Convention and Trade Show Schedule

This is a schedule of the game conventions that we know about, some of which we plan to attend. We are more than happy to help you promote your convention. If you'd like to add your con to our list, use our handy convention registry form.

We can also provide support to GMs who run SJ Games events at conventions and other types of convention support, such as GMs to run SJ Games events! Send mail to and let us know how we can help.

You can download these posters to publicize your games and help you find new players at conventions (or stores, or schools)!

We also need volunteers to help us at conventions.

Apr. 25-27: Midwest Media Expo – Detroit, MI
Location: Detroit Renaissance Center
The Midwest Media Expo is a popular culture event similar to most Comic Conventions. However, instead of focusing on comic books, M2X is a celebration of all popular media, including: Animation, Television, Movies, Literature, Video Games, Tabletop Gaming, Comics, Internet Culture, and eSports. M2X will bring a unique all-ages blend of interactive events, celebrity guest panels, and live musical performances to Downtown Detroit. An example of our interactive live events is "Live Action Mario Party", an emulation of the video game experience. Players participate in gameshow-like mini-games to help their teams advance and win.

Apr. 25-27: Chaoticon – Green Bay, Wisconsin

We are an annual convention held in Wisconsin on the UW-Green Bay campus, sponsored by the UWGB Gamers Club. For 23 years running Chaoticon has been Green Bay's premier gaming convention, featuring board games, tabletop RPG's, card games, Amtgard, video games, vendors, and lots more! You won't find a better convention value in the state!

TrekTrax Atlanta is an annual sci-fi con dedicated to space opera in general and Star Trek in particular with special emphasis on fan-based events, activities, programming and productions. TXA will present two tracks of programming, one devoted to Star Trek and one devoted to all other space opera; a gaming room for RPG, board and card games; VIP champagne reception; sci-fi costume contest; video programming room; dealers room; con suite; and the 15th annual Miss Klingon Empire Beauty Pageant.

May 2-4: OutlantaCon – Atlanta, GA - Georgia
Location: Marriott Century Center
Outlantacon is an Atlanta-based event for the Queer Geek audience! You'll find all the usual convention fare here—discussion panels, gaming, costuming, special events, etc—the difference is that it all has a queer 'bent' to it. Here you can enjoy all the convention trappings in an atmosphere where you're free to be yourself! We also offer some pretty unique twists as well, like our own versions of Match Game (a staple since 2007), Project Cosplay (introduced in 2010) and Nea's Drag Race (a new addition in 2011).

May 2-4: Penguicon – Southfield, Michigan

Penguicon is a three-day event where we all learn from each other (as well as from our Guests of Honor) about hacking, building sci-fi universes, soldering, painting miniatures, gaming, coding, music, incredible costumes, and more.

May 2-4: LexiCon – Lexington, KY

We are hosting a gaming only convention in beautiful Lexington KY. There will be a variety of games including deck builders, cooperatives, collectible card games, living card games, miniatures, family games, role playing games and dice games. Many games designers are attending and there will be lots of newly released games to play at the convention. We will have a 1, 000 + game library and of course tournaments. There will be a large Magic Tournament and we plan on hosting several others!

Over the weekend, the event will offer many different ways to enjoy playing games with friends, new and old. There will be a mix of open tables, scheduled events and reservable tables open for play. OMNI EXPO is a combination of this generation's craving for the latest and greatest that Technology has to offer and the yearning for a world with infinite possibilities. The 2014 show will be the 8th UK Games Expo, and will be held on the weekend of 30th May to 1st June. On Friday 30th May, there will be open gaming sessions and roleplaying sessions as part of our Friday games day.

May 31-June 1: Terminal City Tabletop Convention – Vancouer, BC
Location: Firefighters’ Banquet & Conference Centre on 6515 Bonsor Ave in Burnaby, BC

CoreCon is a science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and anime convention hosted by the non profit organization called Digital Grail, our proceeds go towards the rape and abuse center in the Fargo-Moorehead area. This year it will be held June 12th-15th, 2014 in the Fargo, ND-Moorhead, MN area. Last year we had about 800 attendees from our local region, the Minneapolis area, as well as visitors from Winnipeg, Canada and our attendance rising.

June 27-29: Animaritime 2014 – Fredericton, New Brunswick

Animaritime is an anime and gaming convention held in the Atlantic Maritimes. This year the convention will be hosting its 10 year anniversary. Proceeds for the convention go towards hosting the next years convention and to the IWK Health Center to fund cancer research for children. Various gaming (both video and board games), anime events and panels will be made available to attendees.

June 27-29: Texicon – Grapevine, TX
Location: Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S Main St., Grapevine, Texas 76051
Texicon is a general table-top gaming convention located in north Texas. Last year, we hosted 146 scheduled events. There were 40 Miniatures events, 46 Role-Play events, and 61 Board Game events. We were also able to raise $1200 dollars for the Art Space charity with the help of DFW Nerd Nights. This does not include all of the unscheduled games, of which there were plenty. They occurred on the open gaming tables. Last year, each game type had 8 tables. This year we are expanding it to be 12 tables. There were also two Texicon sponsored tournaments. Rooster Teeth created RTX, a gaming and internet convention held in Austin, TX which attracts thousands of gamers and Rooster Teeth fans from around the world. ConnectiCon was founded in 2002 by a group of friends at the University of Hartford. After making long treks across the U.S. to fan events, they were looking for a convention closer to home that met their varied interests. The founders decided to start their own convention in Connecticut dedicated to the many genres they enjoy (board games, sci-fi, anime, video games, card games, comics, etc.)

San Diego Comic-Con International is a multigenre convention held annually in San Diego, California. Originally showcasing comic books, science fiction/fantasy and film/television, and related popular arts, the convention now includes a larger range of pop culture elements, such as horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels. According to Forbes, the convention is the "largest convention of its kind in the world". In 2013, it filled the San Diego Convention Center to capacity with more than 130, 000 attendees.

This will be the 2nd annual event for this convention. WaCon's goal is to serve as a venue for all types of tabletop gaming and bringing people together in an interactive and social environment. Oct. 30-Nov. 2: Youmacon – Detroit, MI
Youmacon is a popular culture event similar to most "Comic Cons", however instead of focusing on comic books, Youmacon is a celebration of Japanese popular culture and its influence on our own culture over the past few decades. Common themes throughout the event are Anime (Japanese animation), Video Games, Japanese style artwork and comics, and the rising internet culture influenced by all of the above. Youmacon brings a unique all-ages mix of interactive events, celebrity guest panels, and live musical performances to Downtown Detroit. One of its most popular events, "Live Action Mario Party", emulates the video game experience – often filling the room to fire code capacity.
