December 12, 2010: A Little Of This, A Little Of That

GURPS Low-Tech Companion 2: Weapons and Warriors Space Gamer #51 This week, e23 hit us with the triple-barreled shotgun of releases . . . let's see what's new!

First up, we have GURPS Low-Tech Companion 2: Weapons and Warriors. Sure, GURPS Low-Tech covers weapons from TL0-4, but Weapons and Warriors expands on that information with a discussion of warfare as armies advanced from simple wooden spears to artfully forged rapiers, optional armor building rules, and a look at fortifications from "pile of dirt" to great walls.

If your fighter is a simple barbarian who hits people, you don't need Weapons and Warriors. If you'd like a bit more depth -- a character who thinks about how and why he battles -- pick up Low-Tech Companion 2. You'll be glad you did.

Next, Space Gamer #51 hits the virtual store shelves. With support for Champions, The Fantasy Trip, Star Patrol, and Car Wars, this magazine is stuffed with goodness from 1982. Add in all the news and reviews, and Space Gamer is a heck of a deal for $2.99.

Mini Car Wars Finally, you can get a little Car Wars . . . specifically, Mini Car Wars, a promotional product from 1987 that contained rules, counters, and road sections. Now, for just a buck, you can download a complete Car Wars game.

The PDF contains a scan of the original product, just as it was. However, the original printing was not on standard-sized paper, so we've included a couple extra scans of important counter sheets, reorientated to make printing easier.

It's the perfect (virtual) stocking stuffer for the autodueling affciando on your list!
