February 10, 2019: Munchkin Musings: February 2019

Munchkin is for lovers!Welcome back to a special Valentine's edition of Munchkin Musings, where we'll be talking about backstabbing, duplicity, greed, and all the other foundations of a successful relationship! Let's get started!

Kickstarter Down the Door

We've had several Munchkin projects on Kickstarter over the last couple of years and have more planned in 2019. Right now, you can jump on Munchkin Dungeon, a new Munchkin boardgame from our compadres at CMON. To answer the most common question: this is a new game, not a reskin of Munchkin or Munchkin Quest or a version of Arcadia Quest with a Munchkin theme. Go check it out; they've unlocked a bunch of stretch goals and it only has a few days left!

Looking at our own projects, Munchkin Unicorns and Friends has been shipped to all domestic backers and many overseas backers. We ran into a serious snag with our overseas fulfillment plans (Phil explained more about this in his 2019 Kickstarter report) and are looking at how to proceed for future projects. If you missed the Kickstarter, Unicorns and Friends is in distribution now; ask for it at your friendly local game store!

Munchkin Steampunk: Girl Genius is about to go on a boat for the trip across the Pacific. We'll start shipping this to backers as soon as the games arrive at our fulfillment warehouse (probably next month). If you missed the preorder window, ask your FLGS to set one aside for you in a few months when this goes into distribution.

We have several Munchkin projects lined up for Kickstarter in 2019. Follow Steve Jackson Games and Warehouse 23 on Kickstarter to make sure you don't miss any of them!

40,000 Reasons 2019 Is Going To Rule

Munchkin Warhammer 40,000 and its expansions, Faith and Firepower and Savagery and Sorcery, are all on track to release on time this year. We've already seen advance copies of Munchkin Warhammer 40,000 (check out Gloryhoundd's unboxing video!) and it will ship to stores next month. The expansions will follow in the summer. We're looking forward to showing this off at Gen Con, Origins, and FnordCon.

FnordCon? What's That?

You haven't heard about FnordCon? Well, lucky you, because there are still tickets available. This is your chance to meet the people who create your favorite games and actually play those games with them. I'll be there all weekend, playing Munchkin Warhammer 40,000 and some other games (some of which we haven't announced yet), and we'll have tables set up for Ogre, Car Wars Sixth Edition, The Fantasy Trip, Super Kitty Bug Slap, and plenty of other games, too. We're limiting attendance to 250 people this year since it's our first time out, so don't wait too long!

That's enough for this short month . . . the next Munchkin Musings will be out in March, by which time I maaaaay be able to talk about a few more things I've been working on. In the meantime, if you want to chat about what we might be up to next, come over to the forums and weigh in!
