February 17, 2018: Munchkin Musings: February 2018

Red Pen of Doom

No time for intros when we have the Munchkin Collectible Card Game releasing this month! It has already started shipping to our distributors and should be on store shelves on or around February 21. We are so excited for y'all to get to play this game, and we have to thank Eric Lang and Kevin Wilson for their hard work designing a game that we're planning to build on for years to come. The first expansion, The Desolation of Blarg, will be in stores in May, and we're just about a month from sending the second expansion, Fashion Furious, to print. Both of those expansions are boosters only, so you'll need at least one of our starters to play the game.

We also just released Munchkin Magical Mess and Munchkin Clowns. Magical Mess features the return of Moop, first seen in Moop's Monster Mashup, in another 168-card game full of really dumb jokes and very silly art from Ian McGinty. (The Belugazelle haunts my nightmares.) It's playable on its own, but of course you can combine it with any other Munchkin set for a totally wild game. Ian also illustrated a 30-card expansion that will be out this fall; we'll tell you more about that in a couple of months.

Munchkin Clowns is a 15-card mini-expansion illustrated, VERY creepily, by Len Peralta. It is dedicated to everyone who has ever seen a rogue red balloon or explored your city's sewers. Maybe don't play this one with people who are scared of the circus. Or . . . maybe do.

Looking forward, we've got a whole bunch of reprints coming out in June, along with the debut of Munchkin Cheats, a 30-card expansion that gives you new ways to cheat in a Munchkin game and new ways to mess with other players who cheat. That set has art by Lar deSouza.

We haven't forgotten about John Kovalic, either; he illustrated a 15-card expansion that will be coming out later this summer (you might say we wrote it with him in mind) and is working hard on Munchkin 9, which will be out this fall. John is also working on several secret projects that we aren't ready to announce quiiiiiiiite yet.

Speaking of announcements, we have some really cool things that we'll be announcing at New York Toy Fair, starting today, or the GAMA Trade Show, in mid-March. As always, the best way to keep up with our news is to read the Daily Illuminator and follow us on social media (if it's a social-media site, we're probably on it). We're setting out to make 2018 just as awesome as we can, with your help. [Late addition: IDW Games has announced that they're partnering with us and with Nickelodeon on Munchkin Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is exactly as exciting as you would think it is. Here's the announcement . . . and make sure you put the March 7 Kickstarter launch on your calendar today!]
