July 9, 2010: Origins Report

The Origins crew -- Randy, Ryan, and Will -- returned safely and gave me their reports. Sounds like it was, as usual, a decent show.

Our MIBs rocked and rolled -- rolled the dice from Zombie Dice and Cthulhu Dice, specifically. In fact, as further evidence that "demos sell games," Adventure Retail sold completely out of both our dice games. Will managed to slip a couple sneak-peek games of The Palace (the first expansion for Revolution!) into the mix, and a ton of The Stars Are Right were played.

Speaking of TSAR, we didn't win the Origins Award, but some very cool games did. (If you didn't see a ballot online, that's because only attendees were eligible to vote. Sorry.) The Columbus Area Boardgaming Society area was packed with gamers for most of the weekend, and it sounds like Mayfair's brew house experiement was well-attended.

I didn't get to go to Origins this year -- there are too many major shows crammed into this little space we call "con season" -- but if I was in the Ohio area, it'd be a no-brainer each year.

Now: on to Protospiel!
