May 21, 2010: New Munchkin Rules!
I guess that title is confusing. It could be read as "the newest Munchkin games is the coolest ever, and therefore rules over all other games." And while that would be (subjectively) true, that's not what I was going for.
Last week we mentioned some rules changes in the newest printings of the Munchkin line. And although Andrew has chatted about them, nothing compares to . . . well, comparing. You've already got the old rules, over there on your shelf of games. And now you can get the new Munchkin rules, right here in PDF. That page also has the rules for Munchkin Fu, Super Munchkin, Munchkin Cthulhu, and Munchkin Booty. Don't worry, we haven't forgotten Munchkin Impossible, Star Munchkin, or The Good, the Bad, and the Munchkin. Those rules seem to have an excess of [FNORD] in the [FNORD], so we're taking some extra time to sanitize them before release.
As you'll see, the rules changes are minor. Most were just rewordings of the existing rules to make their intent more clear. A few are genuinely new rules designed to speed up the game. But none of them touch the fundamental "fun" of Munchkin: kill the monsters, steal the treasure, and stab your buddy.
After all, if it ain't broke, why fix it?
