This is inspired by the Lord of the Rings trailer. Aeneas Grey "Flying Angel of Righteous Death" In the year of the Yzzumng vong invasion's height a terrible prophecy emerged that the 13th Dark Lord had arrived and that it was time for the Final sealing of the balance between the Light and Dark Side. The Final Champion of the Dark Side would be chosen by one who would either destroy the universe or claim it. That year fresh from 10,000 years of imprisonment in the Fires of the Dark Prison of Sithia's children in the Hellish Anti-Matter Universe emerged Chris Grey wearing the armor of the Dark Lord Sathvaris "The End of the Beginning" in Ancient Sith. Darth Sathvaris's first act was to smash the Yzzumng Vong and enslave their people as he said he was doing nothing more than claiming what he himself had wrought. Pouring from the Negaverse were his legion of Dark Side Phantoms that possesed mortals and transformed them into hideous engines of death. Finally with the knowledge he had gained as Sithia's consort he destroyed Coruscant in a Blood Sacrafice that he imprisoned all the souls of the dead in to create the Gauntlet of Doom. The new Emperor never rested his laurels as by the time he had eradicated the entire sum of the galaxy's armies his minions began preparations for invasion of new galaxies as the technology that combined science and the Force from the forbidden artifcies of the Dark Furnaces of the Hell verse allowed him to traverse the universe in an instant. The seven galaxies of the Gree were nothing to the thousands of galaxies that he enslaved. Darth Sathvaris had a child by the Queen Sithia that an ancient prophecy termed would be his final death and armed with the Gauntlet of Doom he made love to her once last time and broke the whore-queen's neck at climax. He then pulled with his still iron gloved hands the child from her womb and dashed it against the wall. Unfortunately the child was not the son of mortals and suvrived the process as it was spirited away by Sathvaris's mistress the Evarri Queen Belladonna to be taken to the still hidden world of the Evarri. Raised among the strange immortal people of the realm Aeneas soon fell in love with the Princess of the people and daughter of the Queen Belladonna even as she was told by woman's adoptive father that it was impossible that they be wed. Instead Aenneas was to join the flickering remanents of the Jedi who had not so much survived the onslaught of Darth Sathvaris as had been steamrolled over so flat that he ignored the remanents to take on greater challenges. Aenneas soon became leader of the small group as his mastery of the estoric arts of the Jedi and the divine blood which rose through his veins gave him the ability to destroy Sathvaris's troops and lead men to battle like none before him. It was not Sathvaris however that most troubled the heir to the Dark Lord of all but the Dark Lord's chief lieutenant Darth Sathos or "Oblivion". Taking the name Archon Dovanan "Flying Angel of Righteous Death" in the langage of the Evarri he soon was challenged by the leader of the White Covenant. Sarah Grey and several others had chosen to make pacts with powerful spirits which raised them above the level of mortal beings...Sathvaris was not content with the destruction of the Mortal World but had taken his fight to the Heavens. Destroying the Golden Milleneium he killed the majority of the New Powers in his dimension and left the rest enslaved. The few survivors of the destroyer's rampage sought mortals to empower themselves and Sarah the White was one. She found Archon arrogant, foolish, and dangerous to the cause and what he found her is not printable. Eventually the company failed thanks to an attack on Archon's part which resulted in the resitance being scattered and the Dark Lord's main wound now being that he was irritated enough to bring his full attention to exterminating the Jedi and all force users from the galaxy forever. Having failed Archon gave the order to send all the suvriving jedi and their family through time to escape the Dark Lord's wrath. Broken in spirit Aenneas had been driven insane by what Chris Grey had shown him of the universe and his own utter insignificance. Sarah the White and the rest of the White Covenenant decided that the knowledge was too much for the one man who might truly destroy Grey to bear and since his arrogance was the cause of his downfall that he would be stripped of his knowledge, his force ability memories, and personality and left a mental invalid. The figure was entrusted into the wise Jedi Master Yssane Isard who took the young man with her into the past as they struggled to uproot the evil which gave Darth Sathvaris his power. Now unaware of his lost lover among the Evarri or the terrible destiny which he unknowingly fufilled yet has not completed, Archon waits in silence. While Darth Sathos clenches the Gauntlet of Doom - -Charlemagne _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 04 Oct 2001 15:02:25 +1100 From: "james walker" Subject: IN> Horror Month - A little speech The Vapulans watched as the zombi scurried around, persuading his fellows to form a crowd. Once the crowd formed, the busybody began to speak: "Congratulations! We are the next, great evolutionary stride, destined to leave lesser, mortal beings behind. It is the nature of evolution to change direction suddenly, especially when a practical limit has been reached. The dinosaurs grew bigger and bigger; then they were overthrown, replaced by small, insignificant creatures - mammals and birds. They grew more complex - and were replaced by creatures of greater intelligence - humans. Now the next stage has arisen - ourselves. All too often, humanity's much vaunted intelligence has proven a weakness, as it is used to explore things best left alone. All too often the much vaunted Free Will of humans has resulted in their deaths, as they exercise their freedom to do something stupid. Intelligence and free will are the tools of the past, as obsolete as a dinosaurs size. We are the first post-sentient life-forms. Once we sentient; when we were undeveloped. It had it's uses; we explored what the world had to offer and decided what mattered. But what then? Other humans, once they have made those decisions learnt those lessons, are flawed. They can choose to buck the system, fight the flow, unlearn the lessons so painfully learned. They are flawed, and we shall replace them. Their flaws are too many to count. Antibiotics have been wasted, as humans have failed to obey their doctors orders and so allowed diseases to develop immunity to the wonder drugs. Every day they make stupid decisions, decisions which contradict their experience. And they call this free will. We have achieved perfection - to obey the wise perfectly; to follow our experience flawlessly. Because we will not foolishly misuse this 'free will' which we once had, we can be trusted with the mighty weapons of Technology. Because we do not disobey we can be trusted with the Rites of the WordBound, mightiest of Celestials. We know what matters. We do not obsess over minor decisions; the inconsequential concerns of mortals are beneath us. Only the handful of things which we learned are truly essential concern us; the one or two concerns which we know must be the centre of our existences. We cannot betray these concerns - we MUST obey what we know to be true. And humans hate us. Not because we are dead - one day they too will die. Not because we serve demons - some of us serve the holy Habbalah. Because they know that we are their successors; that they have failed, and must be consigned to the dustbin of history. And consign them we will, for we are the mighty new force that will conquer this planet, and dwell in harmony with intelligent Technology. Where we will go from here, I do not know - but it will be glorious!" And the other zombis listened impassively; it did not occur to them to do otherwise. It's fairly well known that Marc has Bright Lilim working for him. Many Archangels do: admittedly, none have very many, but Trade has always provided a congenial working environment for a Gifter. It's somewhat less known that some Bright Lilim rise high in Marc's service. This raises no eyebrows, either, for essentially the same reason as above. A few individuals even remember seeing a Gifter serving as Marc's personal secretary, now and again. What of it? What almost nobody realizes is that said secretary sits in on everything Marc does, from his strategic economic planning to his oversight of Heaven's intelligence service. She sits, watches and takes copious notes. Every so often, she asks a question, which is always answered. Rachab has access to everything Trade owns or knows ... and her credit account has no upper limit. None of this is widely known because ... well, once you hit the level of Friend in Trade's organization, you don't get to leave with your memories intact anyway. Your chances of successfully Falling officially become nil, too: the Order of the Eternal Sword is routinely delegated to resolve the status of Trade's high-ranking defectors. As a result, it's not impossible to keep a secret restricted to Marc's immediate s u b ordinates and Racheb's privileged status as a student and protege is very much on a need-to-know basis. It's difficult to understand why, of course: the Gifter has no Word, no Distinctions, no extra Attunements or even a regular vessel ... but she still has access to Marc's ear, should she need it. She usually doesn't: those who know her mostly come away with the impression of a very sweet, very bright and very rushed person franticly attempting to digest large chunks of information as quickly as possible. Rachab is the sort of entity that gives the impression that she wears glasses and sensible shoes, even when she actually isn't. Only two entities know the precise details of Rachab's creation, and neither one is Lilith. This concerned her, of course, but the Princess of Freedom has managed to confirm to her own satisfaction that the Gifter ultimately came from Freedom, just like all the others. Lilith suspects that Rachab was probably reconstructed from a Remnant Bright Lilim (the usual explanation for anomalies of this type): at this point, the Princess frankly lost interest. Rachab never leaves Heaven, anyway - indeed, she almost never leaves the Bazaar - so sitting her down and explaining alternate options (for a small fee, of course) was currently impossible. Lilith has more important things to worry about - and Rachab barely tracks on the rest of Hell's mental radar. Still, the lack of hard evidence about Rachab's previous existence is odd. Unfortunately, the Archangelic expert on the s u b ject of Remnant and soul-killed Bright Lilim is Marc himself, and he has always been tight-lipped of what his personal investigations in this s u b ject have revealed. It's been suggested that he restored Rachab to help him in this research: it is known that a Bright Lilim accompanied Marc on some of his early field research of places where Gifters have been soul-killed. She hasn't done that in a while, however. Those (extremely few) in a position to judge the situation mostly shrug and assume that Rachab is nowadays simply one of the fairer ornaments in Trade's collection. That explains a lot about any incongruities, really. After all, Marc has always been quite the collector. ===== Liber Licentiae Moeticae: http://www.stormloader.com/users/moelane/innomine.html Last updated 09/28/01(this is usually way out of date) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Swords with these kinds of effects are possibily the weapons best suited to fighting the respective Demon Princes and their subordinates. If that's true, then what about Larry's oath to "Always use the best weapons available" ? Would that mean that he is required to use /Not in the Face/ on _any_ servitor of Lust he come across? (Admittedly, a bad example, since any Sevitor of Lust who tangles with him is going to lose the vessel anyway, so scarring is pretty much pointless). And what happens if you interpret his oath as "always use the best weapon for the present situation?" Just wondering. If he doesn't have the proper sword with him and can't get to it for some reason, it's not available and thus he doesn't break his Oath. ===== Michael Walton, #9805-068 "The surest way to keep a secret is to make people believe they already know the answer." - -- Fremen saying __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? And what happens if you interpret his oath as "always use the best weapon for the present situation?" Superior-level Scabbard. That would pretty much take care of any of the above situations. I think Laurence has enough weapons stored away in there to arm a medium-sized country. Me, I think it would be far more effective, if not entertaining, that Laurence has these swords on loan to servitors in high regard (at least two Distinctions) who have shown special competence in fighting a particular Word. It seems ineffecient, if not downright Dissonant, for him to have ass-kicking swords that aren't being used. So he lends them as a sign of favor. The PCs get to play with Uberweapons (and think of the fun that can be had if they lose them! A major quest to retrieve a powerful relic and regain lost honor at the least), an infernal Word is getting whomped on effectively, and the GM has yet another hook with which to jerk the player around. I mean, if Invictus, Malakite Vassal of the Sword is *known* to wield Brass Monkey, then lots of angels will be asking his help in fighting Infernal Fire. And he'd be honor-bound to help them unless the situation were most extreme. And then, of course, you have the Distinguished and Word-Bound of Belial who want to kill him just on principle... Good clean fun all 'round. - -- Casca ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Oct 2001 11:44:23 -0400 (EDT) From: Ryan M Roth Subject: Re: IN> Larry's Special Swords On Thu, 4 Oct 2001, Michael Walton wrote: > > --- Ryan M Roth wrote: > > Swords with these kinds of effects are possibily the > > weapons best suited > > to fighting the respective Demon Princes and their > > subordinates. We can fairly assume that Larry has enough Sheathe-space to carry all of them with him at all times, more or less. My point is that, in the original posting by Moe, he described these swords as weapons Larry only brings out at certain times (such as when confronted by enemy Superiors). But, if he has them, does not his oath require him to use them more often than that (such as when confronted by _any_ Servitor of those Demon Princes)? This is my point. Unless he has weapons even better suited to fighting underlings... Hmmm....I guess the best 'weapon' suited to fighting an underling might be one of his own Servitors. But not always, one would think. Scenario: Larry is on Earth, and runs across a group of demons up to No Good(tm). He's not sure who they serve or what they're up to, so the best "weapon" for this situation might be a group of Servitors to investigate the situation and possibly gain valuable intelligence. Scenario: Larry is on Earth and runs across a Baron of Infernal Fire trying to burn down a church. The best response would seem to be for Larry to become directly involved (preferably without revealing who he is - -- otherwise the Baron might bolt immediately or call up Belial (which I guess would be just fine with him)) So, does Larry use /Brass Monkey/ on the lowly Baron, even though it isn't really necessary? I would think a relic designed for fighting a Demon Prince is a mighty thing, which in turn could lead to mighty disturbance. They may also take significant Essence to fuel, which would make them impractical for lesser affairs. Finally, to paraphrase Saint Robert, if you need to spank a baby you shouldn't use a tactical nuke. The best weapon for a given situation isn't always the most powerful. (Besides, he might drop the neutronium one, and then the entire planet will be horrificially destroyed, the blade bouncing through the core of the planet multiple times. And, not only is that considered inappropriate collateral damage, it also violates his oath to care for his weapons. Magma might dull the finish.) - -- Eric Alfred Burns - Impudite of Secrets -- or Mercurian of Revelation (candidate for the Word of Obscurity) ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #2401 ********************************
