Well, it is an age where sorcery and pagan gods/ethereals rule. An age where God leaves creation alone and takes an inactive role. An age where angels and demons walk the earth. Angels and demons have to co-exist with many different and powerful ethereals. Conan could be a Soldier of God serving Michael. Heck, with his battle axe Conan _is_ Michael. As he is fighting the forces of Evil in the person of the serpent-mage Thoth-Amon you could rule that Thoth-Amon is an avatar of Lucifer. Maybe it would be best to make it an all-Soldier campaign fighting Ethereals and leave angels and demons in the background. I know that there is/was GURPS Conan which might be useful. You mean like a demon only, um, good or something?... Don't forget Conan's two conversations with the spirit of the prophet Epimetreus, who spoke for Mithra and the Gods of Light. Let us also not forget the Mithran priest/sorceror in "Conan The Liberator" who counters the evil powers of Thulundra Thuu, or the White Druids of Pictland who show up in "Conan Of Aquilonia". (And while the last two are from L. Sprague De Camp's Conan, IIRC Epimetreus is from the original Robert E. Howard.) Even the Conan universe acknowledges that there are heavenly powers opposed to the evil powers, and that said powers (very occasionally!) sponsor mortal champions and provide them with guidance and a bit of a handy boost. So while angels would most definitely not be as free in their operations in the Hyperborean Age as they would be in other milieus, there could still be a place for them. (Not to mention, of course, angels taking deep-cover Roles as mighty champions, sidekicks who always seem to be getting the hero into things at just the right/wrong place and time, "good sorcerors", wise men, etc.) - -- Chuckg _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 Feb 2002 21:37:05 From: "Charles Glasgow" Subject: Re: IN> Conan the King! >From: "Donato Ranzato" >Reply-To: in_nomine-l@lists.io.com >To: >Subject: Re: IN> Conan the King! >Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2002 22:21:17 +0100 >Conan could be a Soldier of God serving Michael. Yes. Definitely got the spirit. >Heck, with his battle axe Conan _is_ Michael. I dunno. There are a few (OK, *not* so few) spots on Conan's career... Dominic -- "Lust, Pride, Wrath, Envy, Lust, Pride, Lust, Lust, Lust, Pride..." Michael -- "I was maintaining a Role!" Dominic -- "Look me straight in the eyes and tell me that you weren't enjoying it. *Greatly*." Michael -- *muttermuttermutter* - -- Chuckg _________________________________________________________________ Join the world s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2002 22:55:26 +0100 From: "Donato Ranzato" Subject: Re: IN> Conan the King! Maybe Michael's "role" was the true reason for Dominic's trial against Michael :-) Maybe God intervened because he really enjoyed this age of High Adventure (shhh, don't tell anyone) and Dominic was just jealous of all the bar wenches Michael conquered........ Hmmm, sounds like high school. But in IN terms, that would be the Mythic Age when demons openly walked the Earth. And in Hyborean IN, Sorcerers and Crossbreeds would be more common and Ethereals would be _much_ more powerful. ===== Michael Walton, #9805-068 "In a world without women, what would men become?" Some Archangel descriptions (since canonically, he is an Archangel), but I don't know of any Servitor-level angels of Death. http://www.amadan.org/Innomine/Azrael.htm - -David ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 02 Feb 2002 10:07:29 +0000 From: "cassandra benner" Subject: Re: IN> Angel of Death Azrael can also be found here: http://www.geocities.com/archangel_nine/innomine.html http://www.geocities.com/archangel_nine/azrael.txt Cas *Knowledge is power. I know of none, but there are some good write-ups for an AA of Death. Azrael and Thanatos are in the INC. I believe that there's another version of Azrael on David E.'s website. ===== Michael Walton, #9805-068 "In a world without women, what would men become?" "Scarce, ma'am. Thanks, guys... (The Grigori, among other things could hear tiny disturbances, like *emotional* damage rather than physical, not to mention getting a general bonus flat for sensing Disturbance.) His reasoning might be interesting to go into, if that's the case. William ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #2535 ********************************
