Limbo dancers keep bend over backward and pass under the Stick without knocking it down. The Stick is lowered slightly with each pass, making each pass more difficult. Cost: None. Activation: None. Knowledge of these Songs Is Strictly FORBIDDEN! Any Celestial demonstrating AWARENESS of the existence of these Songs will be Force Stripped without Trial! THIS MEANS YOU! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Song of Vessels Corporeal (or Send in the Clones) - May be used to split a level 2 or greater Vessel into a number of physically identical level 1 Vessels. This Song will only create Vessel/1. The newly created vessels immediately disappear, to be called by the owner of the original Vessel as per the rules of changing Vessels. This Song is resisted automatically by an unwilling subject. Example: A Vessel/6 will become 6 Vessel/1. It will not create 3 Vessel/2, 2 Vessel/3 or any combination there of. Essence cost is figured from the original Vessel. Ethereal (Do it yourself Kyrio!) - The user may summon up and inhabit any of his currently unused Vessels. The user may have as many Vessel levels as Song level + Ethereal Forces, up to the number of spare Vessels the user has available. The Song will last for a number of minutes equal to the CD. Example: Singer has 4 Ethereal Forces and Ethereal Song of Vessels at 2. Singer could sustain 6 levels, 6 Vessel/1 or 2 Vessel/3 or mix to taste. If Singer only summons 2 Vessel/1 the duration will be increased by 4 hours. Essence cost: the total of All Vessels summoned. (The original doesn't count, it was already there.) Celestial (Swap Meat) - The user may give or take a Vessel from another Vessel using entity. Range: 0 / Self / 0 Duration: Permanent / Special / Permanent. Essence: 3 x Vessel Level. Disturbance: Essence spent x TotF of all Celestials involved (Yes, it's very loud. Why do you think it's not very well known? Better find a Really Good hiding place to do it, and another for yourself until the heat is off.) Opposition: Others must be willing or the song fails. Bonus: Trade, Lilim =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Superiors take a very dim view of these Songs. While Archangels may not Force Strip you, they will strip the Songs, take away your Vessels and stick you somewhere you won't cause them anymore trouble. AFTER finding out where you learned them, or who used them on you. Demons should be so lucky. The only Superior who might let you get away with it is Eli. Don't think Lilith would let you slide, she is too jealous of her prerogatives as a Demon Princess. She won't turn you over to Asmodeus, but she will bend her efforts toward Geasing you until you look like a Celestial escapee from Andrealphus' slave pits. Or maybe She would turn you over to Asmodeus. Nobody wants another Legion. Example: You trade an anonymous Vessel to a Malakite who's only Vessel is wanted by the FBI. The next time the Malakite reports to her Superior she is asked about this. Next thing she knows she is standing guard inside a bricked up closet in Heaven and that Superior is looking for you. I just assumed that Novalis figured that one bad experience with a Prince would be enough to smarten them the hell up. Sorry for the late response. Since my GURPS In Nomine game is no longer runnng, and I've discovered a reason to use the normal IN mechanics (kinda), I've redone the page eliminating the GURPS references (though I still have my old GURPS mechanics tucked away if anyone wants them). I'm using the Eden Project (name?) idea of ascension only through Tethers. I've also included an changed body hit system that should work (though is untested, I would love for someone to test it for me as I don't have the time right now) - combat is MUCH deadlier now, should be therefore faster and more important. I've also included /social stats/ and brief guidelines on how to use them - any and all comments and constructive criticism is welcome, as well as suggested alternative names for them, since at the moment they smack of White Wolf. What else? Dissonance perversion ... Essence as Experience points (haven't quite finished that bit, but here's a start) ... different Falling rules ... Anyway, please take the time to check it out. This page isn't as art-heavy as the others on the site, but nice enough for me. http://www.geocities.com/perrylloyd/tabletop/ideal.html If there's something else that you feel needs to be fixed in In Nomine, please let know so I can consider it for my ideal In Nomine. Combat in any RPG tends to slow down the game. I once played in a session where it took two hours to resolve a combat that took 70 seconds of game time (seven 10-second turns). The biggest problems (and some possible solutions): 1) Little damage vs. big hit points -- the problem you mentioned; characters who can take more than anyone can dish out. This situation guarantees that combats will take a long time to resolve if nobody flees. Solution: either reduce the number of hit points or increase the damage of attacks. Either has drawbacks, but they're the only options in this case. 2) Multiple actions -- any time that even one character can take multiple actions in one turn it bogs down combat. Solution: either prohibit multiple actions or make them hard to come by. IN actually does a good job with this. 3) Player/GM ignorance -- this really shows in combat systems; one of my biggest beefs with the combat system of Mind's Eye Theatre is that it was apparently designed by people whose RL combat experience consists of having been beaten up on the playground. One of the most common mistakes is underestimating the deadliness of firearms -- one of the reasons that we don't use swords anymore is that you can kill a lot faster with a .357 Magnum. It also doesn't help that players can be indecisive when it come to the combat actions of their PC's ("Should I play the Song of Shattering or just use the Flaming Sword?"). The solution to the knowledge problem: research. Find out how stuff works and adjust the mechanics of your campaign accordingly. The player indecision thing? Give them limited time to decide (as in, "If you don't declare one in 10 seconds, you don't play the Song or use the sword."). Even with this stuff (and better solutions that you might come up with on your own), combat will still slow down the game. All you can do is minimize that. ===== Michael Walton, #US2002023848 If your principles don't inconvenience you from time to time, you don't really have any. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tho I could make an argument for what ever Choir the Malk was before he became a Virtue if he's old enough to predate the Fall. In fact, I almost feel it should be that way anyways. Malakim should either be angels who have chosen to be such, or designed by their superior to be a Malakim. It should never be by accident. Just an opinion and I can see debates against it, but it is how I feel. OTOH, consider the implications to the War if somebody finally tries this... and it *works*. Consider the reactions of Superiors on both sides, and the resulting fallout.
