I think you might be forgetting Lilith's rabid allergy to aggressively patriarchal attitudes. Not that Michael ever came across as particularily sexist... if nothing else, he's far too pragmatic to cut himself off from 50% of the available talent pool to recruit from. It's just that as you point out, Michael is the Ultimate Alpha Male... which means that about the only way that Michael *wouldn't* end up "wearing the pants" in a long-term relationship is if his partner was a master of the "keep giving in until he's exactly where you want him" approach. (1) Which Lilith *isn't*. Oh, she's smart enough to have learned it, and practical enough to do it when she has to... which for the only human Prince in Hellish politics is pretty durn often... but she doesn't *like* it. And picking your dream date is about what kind of social interaction you *want* to have, not about what kind you have to endure. But Laurence is *not* the Ultimate Alpha Male. On matters related to his Word, his Oaths, or his duty, he's unbreakable, unbendable, possessed of indomitable willpower. On matters of the heart... Laurence is, to put it charitably, naive. And by celestial standards, young and impressionable. *g* And even a Bright Lilith, IMO, would want to date a Superior where she was the one -- and the only one -- getting to set the pace and dictate the terms. With Laurence, that's pretty much guaranteed. With Michael, there's no chance. - -- Chuckg _________________________________________________________________ Join the world s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2002 22:08:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Maurice Lane Subject: IN> May 19, 2001 Harp of St. Du n s tan Actually, the Saint did not create (or ever even own) this particular relic, although it's certainly old enough to have been around at the same time that he was. The Harp is made out of faded, slightly pitted wood, with slightly tarnished silver strings and the faint remnants of gilded Celtic inlays. Despite its appearance, it never has to be tuned, never breaks a string and always plays beautifully. The reason why it was named after the Saint is in commemoration of Du n s tan's ability to get people to listen to him; someone playing the harp will be able to accomplish pretty much the same thing - at least, until he or she stops playing. There's been a fairly impressive number of owners of the Harp, over the years, mostly because of the access that it grants to a normally inaccessible Song. Most of its owners have been either angelic or mortal; Hell keeps a cautious distance, for it is said that any demon that plays it will Redeem within the year - and that any demon that smashes it will be soul-killed within the same amount of time. For what it's worth, just about every Seraph that's encountered the Harp will readily agree that the legend's a crock, but since when does a demon believe anything that an angel says, anyway? Talisman/1 (Musical Instrument: harp) (adder) 2 Relic/2 (Corporeal Friendship) 8* Use Enhancement: relic can be used by anyone +2 Accessibility: requires two hands to use -1 Use Restriction: Musical Instrument roll to activate - -1 Celestial Artifact destroyed when corporeal form destroyed -4 Final Cost: 6 *As Friendship is a Choir-specific restricted Song, the cost per level was deemed to be 4. Note that the Use Enhancement will allow anyone to use the relic, although Symphonic Awareness is really necessary to get the most use out of the item. ===== Liber Licentiae Moeticae: http://www.stormloader.com/users/moelane/innomine.html Last updated 04/13/02(this is usually way out of date) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
