Moe Addiction (Dice) (Corporeal) 1pt/level As Corporeal Addictions go, this one is actually pretty mild: the sufferer simply has an unbreakable and uncontrollable urge to regularly go out and purchase various types of dice. A successful Will Roll is necessary to resist purchasing, modified as follows: - - (level of the Discord) - -1 for every week since the last time dice were bought. - -1 if the dice are speckled, metallic, crystal clear, shiny or otherwise barely different than the rest of your dice. - -1 You've just rolled a critical failure with your old dice (obviously, they're jinxed and you need new ones). - -1 You've just rolled a critical success with your old dice (obviously, they're drained and you need new ones). - -1 You're not rolling any criticals with your old dice (obviously, they're useless and you need new ones). - -3 You already have enough dice to choke a horse (by now, it's not an obsession, it's a collection, and collections need to be expanded, right?). +1 You legitimately need dice (It's a guilt thing). - -1000 The dice in question are made out of actual meteoric iron. Really, the only reason this has a point cost at all is because having this addiction is worth -1 reactions/level from Judgement, the Game and all Lilim: the first doesn't like superstitious behavior, the second will provide you with all the dice you need, thank you very much, and the third can think of so many better things to spend your money on than those stupid polyhedrons... ===== Liber Licentiae Moeticae: http://www.stormloader.com/users/moelane/innomine.html Last updated 04/13/02(this is usually way out of date) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Celestain, Lilim Princess of Chaos " The world began in chaos, in chaos it will end. " It's hard to be a Lilim. It's even harder when you're a highly dissonant, fatally discordant one. Even more so when you're insane. Look at Celestain. She's got no concept of organization to the point that she'll hand out a distinction to any demon that asks for it, albeit the distinction carries nothing with it other than the title. No one in Hell is *wiling* to work with her, including most of the Princes. Dissonance: To actually *PLAN* something. The insignificant few that work for the "Mad" Princess gain a point of dissonance for every minute that they spend planning something. She encourages spontaneity, abruptness, freedom to think. They also gain dissonance if they stand by and do nothing in the middle of a chaotic situation, such as a riot, or when an opportunity to spread chaos, such as aiding in a jailbreak, presents itself. For some reason, they also gain dissonance by restricting the freedom of anything other than an angel. She does not only expect her few Servitors ( roughly only a hundred or so, ALL given to her by other Princes ) to be chaotic, but to be as mad and unpredictable as she is. Organization: Simple: random handing out of distinctions to anyone who asks. They don't really count, they're just like titles. She's willing to take anyone into her service, and she lets them do as they will, as long as it's chaotic. She lets them do anything they like. It has become clear that she is *very* much like Lilith in this sense, but any of her Servitors, or any non-Prince demons for that matter, who say this in her presence *WILL* be smited. It's about the only thing sure about her. Band Attunements: Balseraphs ( restricted ): The few Bapseraphs working under her gain 1 Essence whenever they use their Resonance to start a chaotic situation. Djinn: She loathes Asmodues, so she doesn't take Djinn. Calabim ( restricted ): Whenever they use their Resonance to cause confusion, or in a riot or otherwise confusing and violent situation, they gain 2 Essence. Habbalah: They can use their resonance to drive a number of people equal to the Habbalite's total number of Forces to chaotic behavior. Doing so drains 2 Essence per target. Lilim ( restricted ): Using a Perception roll and 2 Essence, her Lilim no longer senses what a person Needs, but rather what would be the most effective way to cause chaos in the target's life. Shedim: Like any Lilim, she loathes Shedim and doesn't take them into her service. Impudites ( restricted ): Any Impudite who is in her service will gain 1 Essence if they Charm someone into doing a random or chaotic act. 2 Essence if the act was violent. Servitor Attunements: She has no Servitor attunements. Distinctions: Randomly given out, they carry no real benefits. Relations: Most of Hell's Princes don't like her. Oddly enough, Baal and Kronos are the closest thing she has to actual allies. She also has an inexplicable attraction to Kronos, whom she worked for once. She also has nothing but hatred for her Mother, whom she believes neglected her all her life and refused to aid her when she was being tortured by Asmodeus. Allies: Kronos* ( Kronos is associated with her ) Associated: Baal, Belial* ( Belial and Vapula are neutral to her ) Neutral: Everyone else, except....* ( other than the ones above, the Princes are *ALL* hostile to her ) Hostile: Saminga, Malphas Enemy: Asmodeus, Lilith* ( Lilith is associated with her. She is STILL her Daughter after all ) Basic Rites: - -disrupt an otherwise organized meeting or event. - -start a jailbreak. - -kill a Shedite or Djinn. ( I'm serious! ) Chance of Invocation: 1 Invocation Modifiers: +1 in the middle of a riot or battle +2 in an angry mob ( provided the mob is against an established group ) +3 in the middle of a jailbreak +4 the burning reckage of a symbol of authority - -1 if in proximity to a Tether to Death, Freedom or Factions - -5 if you're a Lilim working for another Prince - -6 if you work for Death, Factions or the Game History: She's insane. She was relentless in collecting geasa, particularly when she was working for Kronos. She enjoyed having humans, and the occasional angel do random acts of violence or chaos that would inevitably ruin their lives and bring them to their Fates when she collected the geas. She moved on some time after 485 B.C., taking up work in Vapula's service. She enjoyed her work there, ceaslessly working on one device of mass destruction after another, often causing a riot within Tartarus. It was during one of her notorious tests that Lucifer noticed her. He saw the immense, costly damage on Tartarus and the chaos that ensued when they found that the explosion caused aftershocks. She despises angels, especially Servitors of Judgement, who had dragged her into one of their Tethers, hidden away, to be interrogated. She refuses to say why they interrogated her, or what happened to her. Asmodeus grew suspicious of her after she returned, with a mental state similar to what she projects now. After a month of torture in Hades, Lilith finally managed to bail one of her first Daughters out, but Celestain doesn't know this, and thinks Lilith abandoned her. When released, she was erratic, chaotic, disturbed. She spent centuries aimlessly walking around Hell, causing chaos at every opportunity. Eventually, she came upon Lucifer himself near Stygia. She was still sane enough to show respect to the Lightbringer, but her attention drifted when she noticed Lilith leaving Stygia, breaking into a fit of shouting and screaming. Lucifer and Kobal, who was nearby at the time, thought it a most elegant joke to give the Lilim a Word. After a few seconds of thoguht, Kobal gave a most accurate suggestion: Chaos. Lucifer is said to have snickered a little as he heard those words. It fit the "Mad" Lilim quite well. Eventually, she realized being the epitome of Chaos wasn't so bad. In fact, she was starting to enjoy all the random madness she was causing. Personality and Outlook: She projects insanity, but inside, she knows Kronos understands her. She is in love with the Balseraph, and she makes no effort to hide it. Her "love" for Kronos, her hatred for Djinn, Shedim and Lilith, her unusual urge to inflict cruel and unusual punishment upon angels are the only things alone keep her somewhat sane, for the moment. She believes everything is intrinsically chaotic, but Heaven is working to control that inner chaos. She sees humanity as the product of random, chaotic evolution, not a planned project. She thinks it all came from Chaos, and to Chaos it should return. She believes it is the Fate of the Symphony to fall back to that Chaos, and that she must hasten it. Role in the War: She is *very* straightforward in her task: cause Chaos. Her main task, strategically speaking, is to incur Chaos withing the Angelic ranks. While this is done best with Malphas, she prefers to work alone. She also uses Chaos to bring humans to their ultimate Fates, as a sort of twisted gift to Kronos. Appearance: What the others think of her: Andrealphus: I have much more fun with Lilith really, I don't really understand her....... Asmodeus: I admit that Lilim have their uses, but.......what use can you possibly find in a Lilim that is even more insane than Gabriel and Vapula combined? Baal: As long as she spreads Chaos in the ranks of the enemy, I find no trouble in her. Beleth: Her madness sometimes gives *me* chills.......I'm not entirely sure what to think of her. Belial: She often leaves great flames burning wherever she goes. I like her. Though, she reminds me too much of Gabriel. Haagenti: Kobal: She's too insane to be funny. Kronos: She has driven many to their Fates, and is embracing her own. I just wish she'd realize I am not part of it. " He denies his feelings for me. I understand. He *IS* a Balseraph after all, but one day, we *will* bring the Symphony to it's final, Chaotic Fate. Then, we will be together, my dear Kronos....." Lilith: She is my Daughter. I am proud that she has become a Princess. I only wish I could show her I didn't abandon her. Malphas: I don't understand why she can't see that our Words are beneficial to each other. Still, her alienating Lilith from a Lilim, namely herself, is something even *I* would have trouble doing. Nybbas: Ooh....sometimes, her work gets ratings, sometimes not. She's a ratings grabber most often though. If only she was easier to work with... Rath (a Prince I made up): I would rather she were dead, but Lilith insistes I don't slay her. Saminga: She kills many things in her wake, I like her..... Valefor: Loot when she's working. That's about it. Vapula: Clearly too unstable to work with properly. Note: Her main differences to Furfur are a)Furfur is sane. b)She's a Lilim. c)She's far more unpredictable and dangerous. She's the first of two new Princes i've done. The other, Rath, is also done. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Sign up for SBC Yahoo! Why 2? Why not just 1? If you're going to make the Band Attunements Rites, they should be consistent. Which doesn't necessarily mean they should all be worth the same Essence, but they should all offer about the same cost/benefit ratio. What Calabim have to do for their Essence doesn't strike me as any harder than what Liars have to do, so there's no reason for Destroyers to get twice the benefit. > They can also > use their resonance to destroy any symbol > of order or authority. As in they get a bonus to do so? That would be reasonable. > Habbalah: > They can use their resonance to drive a number of > people equal to the Habbalite's total number of > Forces to chaotic behavior. Just being able to get multiple targets simultaneously seems like a cool enough Attunement, but I'd lower the number to just the Forces in one realm (the best arguments can be made for Corporeal and Celestial). > Lilim ( restricted ): > A Lilim gains 1 Essence when they use a geas to have a > person do something chaotic or random. > Using a Perception roll and 2 Essence, her Lilim no > longer senses what a person Needs, but rather > what would be the most effective way to cause chaos in > the target's life. That's a shame -- Shedim are great agents of chaos. How about a bonus to possess someone who is especially orderly or inhibited? And they gain 1 Essence when they make the Host do something chaotic? Or maybe they can make their Hosts perform progressive acts of chaos instead of inflicting the normal corruption. > Impudites ( restricted ): > Any Impudite who is in her service will gain 1 Essence > if they Charm someone into doing a random > or chaotic act. 2 Essence if the act was violent. Hmmm... this seems too close to the Balseraph Attunement. > Servitor Attunements: > She has no Servitor attunements. I suggest changing the order on some of them; burning a symbol of authority is easier to arrange than an angry mob. And I don't know why Tethers should be on that list at all -- why does being near an angelic Tether support Chaos? Even a Tether to the Wind doesn't qualify; while Janus claims randomness and change as part of his Word, he isn't Chaos for its own sake. My biggest beef with this Superior is that she doesn't do anything that Valefor and Aballam don't already do better. ===== Michael Walton, #US2002023848 "Communism doesn't work because people like to own stuff." -- Frank Zappa __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? So, I have split my two insane Superiors into two separate files. I should point out that these two are old ideas, and none of the Minor Princes, save Furfur, have really been taken into account when making them. Rath, Djinn Prince of Dark Writings " God is the original author of creation, but I intend to edit it. " A Prince that is both a Djinn, but still has remnants of his former Cherubim nature. Hidden in the shadows for all the time he spends in Hell, he is the most reclusive Prince Hell has ever known, or will know. To the point that he has taken no Servitors for the past one thousand, eight hundred fifty three years since he was crowned. In fact, few actually know that he *is* a Prince. Dissonance: He has no Servitors and takes no Servitors. If they choose to work for him anyway, they only have the normal Dissonance requirements for their Bands. Organization: No Servitors, no organization. For the few demons who have decided to work for him, they soon realize that he doesn't bother with them. They either turn to other Princes, or end up working off debts, earned by asking where he is, to Lilith. Band Attunements: He doesn't have any. Servitor Attunements: Same thing. Distinctions: Still nothing. Though they're free to make some up. Relations: Despite being the most hidden and reclusive of the Princes, he *is* known by all of them. He writes quite well, thus his Word. He has a special relationship with Lilith, to whom he owes his life. He forwards the Words of the others, as well as his own. He is regarded as helpful to them all, *except* Celestain. He dislikes Malphas, who he sees as a manipulator, someone who exists only for himself, someone who doesn't understand the value of others, someone not to trust. He also has a few gripes with the more destructive Princes, as dead humans can't read. Alied: Lilith ( more like fanatically devoted ) Associated: Beleth, Nybbas, Kronos Neutral: Everybody else, except..... Hostile: Malphas, Saminga Enemy: Celestain Basic Rites: note: The few demons who are stubborn enough to want work for him have found these somehow work, though not all the time. - -read a story with a dark taint ( i.e. horror, tragedies and the like ) - -write a story with a dark taint - -make someone read a horror story Chance of Invocation: 0 Invocation Modifiers: +1 if you have a copy of any good horror story in your hands +2 if you have a copy of one of *his* works in your hands +4 if you are a Lilim not working for Death, Factions or Chaos +9 if you're with Lilith - -4 if you're a Servitor of Death Factions or Chaos History: He is so reclusive, that only Lilith knows where he truly came from. According to legend though, it was in the early days after Lilith allowed Hell to run free on Earth. Lilith had just been crowned Princess, and she found a dying Cherub near Hell's gates. The Cherub, if it still could be called one, was near completely Fallen, but still had some parts of his soul as Angelic. Legends say that Lilith saved the Cherub's life and in the final moments before Rath became a full Djinn, he used his Resonance on Lilith. The effects are still evident to this day, and no one understands how, or why. He is loyal to Lilith more than to himself, or to Hell. He was geased to work for Lilith for a few centuries, which he did. He, however, never left. He stayed on with Lilith, while he discovered he had an odd talent. He was a wirter, a DAMN GOOD one. He left the stories he made with Lilith, who initially didn't read them. As it sometimes does, Destiny or Fate gave him a helping hand. A Lilim hanging out in Lilith's personal archives found a copy of one of his works, which she read. She was unable to put it down for the three days it took to read it, then moved it on, passing it on to other Lilim. Finally, it ended up in the hands of Lilith herself, who, after reading it, went to two people in particular. Nybbas and Lucifer. Nybbas gladly agreed to help in the publishing of the story, which forwarded the Words of four Princes: Freedom, Lust, Nightmares and a little of Dark Humor. It was too intruiging and amazing to be true. Lucifer, who also read it, then summoned Rath to him. Rath went, fearful that his work may have offended the Lightbringer, prepared for the worst. Instead, he found himself Word bound. He still refused to work for anyone else though, and stayed in Lilith's part of Shal-Mari. After a few years, and nearly a hundred more works, he was crowned. He personally gives Lilith the first copy of anything he writes, and another to Nybbas, who prints and advertises it. He has stayed relatively quiet, hardly leaving unless Lilith leaves, and taking absolutely *no* Servitors. Personality and Outlook: Reclusive, he hides in the shadows more than any other Djinn. If he didn't recieve the Word of Dark Writings, he may very well have been a contender for the Word of Shadows. He speaks to hardly any Superior or Demon, other than Nybbas and Lilith. Politically, he is quiet, hardly making a stir in the politics of Hell, but he isn't considered a minor Prince. The other Princes know he can increase the power of the Words of the Archangels just as easily as he can the Princes' Words. He sees everything as something to write or think deeply about. To him, the Symphony isn't really a Symphony, but rather a large story written by God, that he will someday learn to edit or rewrite. He also sees usefullness in a few of the Arhcangels, namely Laurence, Dominic and Gabriel. He enjoys distorting characters based on them to twisted, maniacal, evil versions of their former selves, a mockery of the Archangels in question. Role in the War: His role is simple: promote the Words of the other Princes as well as his own. All he ever does since he got his Word was write, write, write. Appearance: He rarely manifests Celestially, and prefers his form of a roughly forty year old man, with slowly whitening black hiar, empty red eyes hidden behind thick reading glasses, wearing an all black business suit with a quill dipped in human blood in one hand. What the others think of him and what he thinks of them: Andrealphus: He has written many things that have gotten a goodreaction from my Servitors, but I haven't read any of his more Lust-inspired work myself. Asmodeus: I have been inspeting his works to see if any information on Hell can be found, but so far, I haven't found any grounds to imprison him. Baal: Weak, but useful. Beleth: He has done a few things to promote my Word, and I admit, I have my younger Servitors read his more Nightmarish works to help them along. Belial: I don't need his worthless stories to promote my Word! A real fire does the job better than he ever can!! Celestain: Can't he see how blind he is to the fact that Lilith betrayed me and one day, will betray him as well? Haagenti: People who read don't generally eat a lot, but sometimes, reading his work makes me even hungrier than usual. Kobal: He's a really good joker when he tries to be, he just doesn't do it very often. Kronos: He has bought many to the Fates that awaited them, and he keeps writing to bring even more closer to it. Lilith: He stays in my estate, writes, and sometimes stops. He stops when I ask him to, to just talk to him. He, among the Princes, I get along the best with. I try not to mix business with my personal feelings, but around him, I can't help but let my guard down." She is my muse, my inspiration, my goddess. I will follow her where she goes, even if she goes to the Far Marches or Heaven. " Malphas: I can't really understand him. He refuses to speak to me, at all! Nybbas: He's a little hard to work with, but his stories make for good TV. Saminga: The dead do not read. I don't see the point of keeping him around. Valefor: He's got ideas worth stealing.... Vapula: Some of his stories have given me a few ideas to experiment on. Other than that, we leave each other pretty much alone. I didn't spot any Blackwings around Notre Dame, but it did inspire this little piece. Two Cherubim of the Sword stood guard duty inside the main hall of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. They were dressed in the uniforms of caretakers, which was appropriate enough. Naphtali, the younger of the two, moved his weight from one foot to the other and muttered something under his breath. His older companion, Ezra, looked across. Naphtali had only recently been given the honour of this duty. The younger Cherub was proud of his assignent and keen to serve the Sword, but he still had many things to learn. "Is there a problem, Naphtali?" "No. It's nothing. Not really. I'm just disgusted by the lack of respect shown by some of these humans. They visit our greatest Tether and treat it like something we put here for their amusement." Ezra nodded and hid a smile. He had heard this complaint from Naphtali before. Like he said, the young angel had a lot to learn. "Ezra, look! Beside the Baptismal painting - do you see who I see?" Ezra looked for the object of Naphtali's excitement, "Oh, yes. Yes, he comes here quite often." "Should we tell somebody? What could he want here?" The older Cherub hid another smile. Naphtali had to learn sometime and he might never have a better teacher, "Why don't you go and ask him? I'll keep your post." Naphtali walked across to the untidy looking figure leaning over a rail barrier and gazing at the painting hanging beside one of the many stained-glass windows. The Cherub checked that no other people were within earshot then drew himself to attention. "Archangel Eli. I am Naphtali, Cherub Servitor of the Sword. How may I serve you." Eli glanced round, "Relax before you sprain something, soldier. I'm just here to do some sight-seeing." "May I send word of your arrival ...," the Cherub stopped as his brain caught up with his automated sense of duty. "Sight-seeing?" he asked in shock, "Like these tourists?!" The Archangel straightened up and turned to the Cherub with a grin, "What's the matter? Don't you like people admiring the place you're attuned to? Jealousy is a very Djinn-thing, you know." Naphtali's jaw dropped at the thought, "Sir, I have never once experienced Discord with my role in the Symphony! It's just these crowds. They are in Heaven's greatest Tether on earth. Angels and Archangels meet to plan the war against Hell and ways to spread Heaven's protecting influence among men, and not one of these people realise it. They walk around with their cameras and camcorders, stuffing their faces in the square outside and feeding the pigeons. It shows no reverence at all for the work we do for their benefit." Eli nodded, "I do tend to agree with you about the cameras. There are enough pictures of this place in books and television. You would think when somebody is standing two feet away from the real thing they would use the eyes God gave them. As for feeding pigeons, you'll have to take that up with Yves. He attracts most of them - says it gives him somewhere to keep his Kyriotates." He quirked an eyebrow at the Cherub, "I suppose you feel the place would be better off without these people running around?" "Well, yes, I do. I have no problem with them holding religous services and I concede that they are entitled to use the grounds outside. But I am sure our own forces could be much better organised if we had the place to ourselves and those who already believe in our cause." The Archangel gestured around with one hand, "So what do you think it is about this place that makes it so special for Heaven anyway? We have many other Tethers. When it comes down to it surely this is just a big church and there are plenty of those in the world." "But there is such a presence of God here," Naphtali insisted, "His holiness and glory can be felt by those who look for it." "God is everywhere. Those who look can be close to him anywhere they want." "Well, yes, but few other places hold such great, historic paintings, statues and architecture. They give mankind a glimpse of the wonder of Heaven and the glories God offers them." Eli gave a half-smile, "You're getting close, but most would say the Musee d'Orsay and Le Louvre have better exhibits if you're looking for artistic displays. Mind you, I've always felt that when you've seen one lady with a mysterious smile, you've seen them all." Naphtali gave up in exasperation, "All right then, what is so special about Notre Dame? What is it that brings you here?" Eli turned back to the painting and answered quietly, "That the artists made these things for God's glory. That they took their skills and talents and dedicated them to Him. That, from time to time, when one of your tourists see this place they don't think how great the artists were, but how great their love of God must have been to produce such works and how great God must be to inspire such love." "I can't speak for the other Archangels, but for me this is a place of human creation for the benefit of Heaven - not the other way around. Guard it carefully, Cherub, and pray that many more visitors will come, that even one more may see the true attraction of the place."
