He was so pure that he was about to topple himself with it, and his honor and purity had been used for... less than good. God knew that Uriel, Honorium Demon Prince of Purification, would have ended the War right then and there with his madness. That trial was well called for. [End Sidebar] Version 1: Numinous Potens, Song This song allows the performer to transfer Forces from one realm into another. There are three versions of this song, and each version redistributes the Forces of that realm into the other two, as the performer wishes, up to the CD and without exceeding the six-Forces-per-realm rule. Realms may not be reduced to zero Forces; likewise, realms without Forces may not be enhanced. The redistributed Forces revert to their original condition in CD minutes. Essence Requirement: 3 Degree of Disturbance: CD + Total Forces Version 2: The Halo, innate ability When mortals manage to perceive a celestial form, they see a coruscating nimbus or shimmering field about the angel or demon which they call the halo. In actuality, it is the Force configuation of the celestial rendered in a manner that the human mind can somewhat comprehend. When in their native form, a celestial may re-arrange their configuation of Forces in whatever way they think is optimal for the task at hand. Thus, a Malakite with a concentration of Corporeal Forces may, by assuming Celestial Form and succeeding at a Force Rearrangement check, convert some of those Forces into Celestial to better soul-kill a demon. Such rearrangements are permanent (until the next rearrangement, of course), as this is rather like a human altering her own DNA. Again, the limitations of not exceeding the six Force maximum, and not reducing a realm to zero or increasing from zero, still apply. Skill: Force Rearrangement Operates off of Celestial Forces Defaults to No F*cking Way, You Moron This skill enables the performer to take a Force and put it into a different realm. There are different ways to handle the mechanics, depending on how difficult you want this to be, so here are some options. 1. Require a roll for every Force rearranged. 2. Require a single successful roll, but 1 Essence must be spent for the transfer. 3. Both 1 and 2. A FINAL NOTE Unfavorable Interventions should be exceedingly messy. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2002 20:49:42 -0500 From: "Gregg Forge" Subject: Re: IN>Another one joins the ranks (List = Legion?) > > > > (Sirea, who doesn't know what Choir/Band she is yet) > > > > > > Ah, a Reliever! Oh, Stone had always encouraged humans to come together- even in ways that some other Archangels found disturbing or distasteful. Nontheless, most had believed him as pure and pristine as only his kind could be. And then came the rise of facism. Whatever else may be said about Hitler and his ilk- and much has been said already -they were undeniably Leaders. Men whose personal charisma could overwhelm rivals and objections. They united their people, even though they used that unity for a dark and vile purpose. And when the rest of the Host threw in behind the Allies, David alone stood impartial- secretly suporting the Axis. He grew more reserved from the Host as the war continued on. And one day, he simply vanished. Dominic was the last to see him, and the Archangel of Judgement was badly shaken- he said that David looked entirely different. That he had become clear, and it was as though his heart were the flaming core of the world. There was rejoicing in Hell as David, the Honorium, strode up to the gates he had helped build. He stepped through them, disdainfully looking at the disunited Hoard, and demanded to be shown to Lucifier. The audience was granted- and in the end, David was given his new Word. The Unity of Hell, however, is not like that of Heaven. It is the intentional blinding of oneself to the present evils for a greater good, the sacrafice of one's own free will and choice to that of your superior, and his superior. If there was ever going to be any lasting honor among Hevaen or Hell, then the whole messy concept of 'free will' and 'individuality' would have to be done away with. Naturally, David's new Word haven't seen him go without making a few enemies- but a few allies as well. Asmodeus loves the Prince of Unity, and they work closely together. LIkewise, he and Kronos get on well with one another. David and Malphas, however, would still like nothing better than to tear one another's throats out, and Lilith has sworn that no Daughter will ever work for David. Still, he's only been around for fifty or so years- his relationships can change almost overnight. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Never forget that you asked for this. And yes, I know that it's not proper Hebrew. Sue me. ;) Comments are welcome. - -EDG Shanaim The Changers (Use Eric's vignette, suitably modified, for these guys. I can't do better.) The Shanaim are a secret project of Zadkiel's: so secret, in fact, that most in Heaven have never heard of their existence. (This number includes, for reasons understood, Litheroy.) The development process is known to have involved Michael and possibly Jean; all other bets are off, because a Shanai is unlike anything Heaven's ever seen before. Born with the power to alter their own configurations, the Shanaim are considered by some in the know to be Heaven's ultimate warriors. In fact, a Shanai is a jack-of-all-trades; freed of the need to specialize, he can learn a bit of any skill he wants, confident in his ability to alter his own Forces to be able to use the skill proficiently at a moment's notice. RESONANCE A Shanai's power lies in his ability to change the characteristics of his own Forces; he can shift his form around, becoming more powerful in any given realm at a moment's notice, but at the expense of the other two. The change doesn't last long, but is tremendously effective while it's active. Although the Shanai chooses into what realm the transferred Forces are sent, the check digit of a successful resonance roll determines how many Forces are shifted - as well as the duration of the shift (ten minutes times the check digit). The Shanai may choose to shift fewer Forces, and can never have more than 6 in any realm, but to decrease the number of Forces shifted is to decrease its duration in proportion. The Forces come from the other two realms as equally as possible; although a realm may be left with 0 Forces, to do so carries dire consequences. The resonance of a Shanai activates gradually, with one Force transferred for each round that goes by. As each Force slides into its new configuration, its characteristics move as well, again as equally as possible, though the angel may not be left with a 0 in any characteristic. Since all of the Forces do not move at once, the resonance selects first from Corporeal, then Ethereal, then Celestial Forces, of the two realms that are being deducted, one at a time, until the move is complete. At the end of the duration, however, all of the Forces snap back into their proper positions. Failing a resonance roll, however, is a dangerous proposition for these angels. A Shanai who fails his roll will find himself with the check digit in "unkeyed" Forces - Forces tuned to no particular realm. They still add to his total Forces (for Songs and attunements that require that statistic), but do not contribute to characteristics (which are, again, subtracted equally) or Forces in a particular realm. These unkeyed Forces are spread as equally as possible across the three realms, and remain unkeyed for a number of minutes equal to the check digit. DISSONANCE In times of extreme need, a Shanai may reduce his Forces in one realm to zero in order to increase another realm by that essential Force. Doing so, however, requires a conscious choice (the resonance will not do this on its own), and generates a note of dissonance in the angel. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2002 20:26:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Kanako Otaku Subject: Re: IN>Roleplayer Barren Nope. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jul 2002 09:24:46 -0400 From: "Adams, David" Subject: RE: IN>Roleplayer Barren You have my sympathies. I'm near the largest Naval station in America and all I can find are D20 fanatics myself. DS1 The trick is to hide all the other gaming materials on the boat and ram it down their throats next time your out on the boat. Might I recommend one of the work ups for your next Med cruise. If you are looking for a quicker fix try springing it on them on a particularly slow duty day. Get them interested in the concept and then bust the game out on them. Hell, if I can convert die-hard d20's to try out White Wolf I am sure you can get them try out IN. Another avenue to try is approach them from the GURPS angle of it. Die hard D20's tend to like mechanics and GURPS has that in spades. While Demons of Unity on Earth are given a little more leeway, they are still expected to unthinkingly obey. - --- Band Attunments Balseraphs (Partially Restricted): Liars of Unity are masterful orators, whose speeches can inspire others to fall in line and in step. When using their resonance to rally people around a set of beliefs, they gain a bonus equal to their Celestial Forces, and in order to resist, the target must win as resisted contest, rather than simply succede in a Will check. (Other demons gain a similiar bonus to their Lying and Fast Talk skills). Djinn (Restricted): The Stalkers of Unity hunt down heretics and outsiders, isolating these disruptive elements from the whole. They know the relative degree of popularity those they are attuned to posses to the society they most consider themself a part of. Calabim: The Destroyers of Unity are the enforcers, the kneecapers, the SS police. They frighten the outside elements into conformity, viciously attacking incidents of non-conforming thoughts- and act primarily to create fear of stepping out of line. They may no noise when harming or killing a human, as long as they human was activly resisting a greater authority at the time. Habbalah (Restricted): Punishers of Unity see individuality as a sign of weakness, and can directly rectify this weakness by inflicting a new emotion- Conformance. Someone with feelings of conformity will obey any confident voice while the emotions last- usally the Habbalah's own. Honorium (Restricted): Honor incarnate, the self-righteous Warriors never fail a resonance check when they are looking at a non-conformist. Lilim: David has no Lilim of Prisons, nor will he ever ask for any, nor will Lilith ever grant them. Lilith would sooner destroy one of her Daughters than see them working for Unity. Sheddim (Restricted): The Corrupters of Unity are among the most sedate and quiet of all Hell's Sheddim. Rather than loudly acting as the most monstreous of Bands, they simply fail to question or bring bad news to attention- especially if that bad news doesn't agree with the party line. When possesing someone, rather than directly corrupting them, they may choose to have that person witness an act that stems naturally from the party line- and then completely ignore it. This act must get worse every day- but when they are acting as a witness, the host may not resist. Impudites (restricted): Smooth talkers and party men, the Takers of Unity know a friend when they see one. When they meet someone who conforms to something, anything the Impudite trully supports, they never fail their resonance check. - --- Word Attunments Certified Member: Similiar to Yves' Library Card attunment, a demon with the Certified Member attunement can gain access to any corporeal area restricted by membership. Guards will give them a nod, other members won't raise any eyebrow, and passwords and locks are no bar- they blend in perfectly. Unity of Purpose: By spending an essence, a demon with the Unity of Purpose can cause any definible group to shut up and listen to what they have to say while the demon can continue to fillibuster- ensuring they will always have a voice. Their reaction depends on who's involved and what is said- although most folks become inclined to agree with the demon afterwords. Forgive and Forget: By spending an essence, a demon may cause someone to forget something which would contradict the Party's offical line- and the demon chooses what Party. If the target chooses to resist, they do so with Will; if the demon or the target is a member of that Party, it's at a -4 penelty, and a -8 if they both are! - --- Distinctions Knight of Equality: A Knight of Equality can pool the efforts of those working beneath him, creating a synergy of combined effort. They recieve a +1 bonus for every three people helping them in something, up to twenty people; however, no one helping the Knight may take any independent action, even if attacked. All participants must be helping of their own free will- but they need not know what they are helping to do. Captain of Solidarity: As the Knight (above), but they gain a +1 for every two people instead of three. Baron of Doublethink: Barons of Doublethink can read the heresies in another's secret heart- with a perception check, they can see exactly where an individual breaks with the offical Party line that they profess to believe in. If they are reading a Celestial, they also see how much (though not what type) of dissonance and discord the target has. - --- Rites * Convince an outsider or heretic to join a larger group, friendly with Unity. (+5 for causing an Angel to Fall and join Unity). * Spend four hours prosteltyzing to the public. * Spend eight hours creating and/or reading a friendly group's propoganda. - --- Invocation Base Chance: 0 Whereever two or more gather in My name, however, Unity is present- and every pair of demons of Unity beyond the first gives a +1 bonus. A propoganda leaflet: +1 A zealot: +2 A maximum security prison: +3 A political rally, attended by at least 5000 people: +4 Peace talks between blood rivals: +5 The constitution of a united world government: +6 Allied: Asmodeus, Baal (Asmodeus considers himself Allied to David) Associated: Kronos, Nybass (Baal, Kronos and Nybass consider themselves Associated with David) Neutral: All others but... Hostile: Kobal, Valefor, Lilith (Valefore and Lilith consider themselves Hostile towards David) Enemies: Malphas (Malphas consider himself an Enemy of David) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
