I remember seeing something about it a long time ago, and would like to read it... and I think it should be more fleshed out also. I like it a lot ^_^ Also, did you guys do something called "Opposite Side Superiors" in the list at some point...? I'd like to read that too. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jul 2002 12:13:07 -0600 From: "Steven E. Hopefully, there's something for >everyone here. How about a relic? Literally, a halo... Use the mechanics of the "Numinous Potens" Song, but without a Song roll required, or Essence. It lasts for "Forces Moved" minutes, and cannot be activated again for "Original Forces in Realm" hours. (Or minutes, or seconds, depending...) This relic is celestial only -- er, _celestial only_ (been working with Quark markup...) -- it does not have a corporeal manifestation, and cannot be used without first going celestial! In celestial form, it is obvious as, basically, a halo -- a glowing nimbus around the owner's head. (For Kyriotates, the "head" is generally the upper third of their masses. For Ofanim, the halo manifests as a separate ring, not quite connected to the other(s) that make up the Ofanite's body, that hovers "above" the angel. For Mercurians, their original halo gets more glowly and SFXy.) It can be targeted in celestial combat -- but only when not in use. When it is in use, it merges with the angel's celestial form. Demons have attempted to seize halos, or replicate them for their own use, but such attempts have proven mostly futile. Mostly. Prince Andrealphus (what, you thought Vapula? Asmodeus? Kobal?) acquired a halo'ed angel and made a study of the thing for some time. (Halos do not survive the angel's Fall, either, it turns out.) While it seems to require some sort of messy Divinity nature to work, one _can_ take a demon, cut away bits, bind up other bits, and essentially reduce it down to a Horn. Each Horn contains the Forces of the demon who was used to make it, and is theoretically a kind of living artifact. Or maybe an undead one, since no Horn has ever been "unpacked" again, and the doner demons can't be contacted. Upon winning a Contest of the user's Will vs. the doner-demon's Will, the demon may draw out the Horn's Forces in a given realm and add it to his own in that realm. The duration, duration between uses, and requirements to use are the same as for the Halo. Celestially, the Horn manifests as a horn, slighty bigger than the standard Impudite or Lilim horn. Demons with heads wear it upon their foreheads; Shedim tend to have it slightly off-center somewhere in their largest mass. It does not vanish and may be targeted specifically in celestial combat. It is not a good "striker" weapon, though, being highly sensitive. Hitting it against something is approximately as bad as being hit in human, ah, "dangly bits." (Of course, a good "horn job" is just as good as.... (This _IS_ something Andrealphus cooked up, of course!)) Halos are general items that Archangels may bestow upon Servitors; Horns required Andrealphus' agreement for some time before he was pressured into granting one to a Servitor of Technology. (Vapulan Horns may have other... side effects.) The secret of their production has since spread, slowly. Nybbas knows how to make them, but it's up to the GM to determine who else has managed to disassemble a Horn'ed Servitor and reverse-engineer the things. - --Beth, arcangel@io.com / archangel@sjgames.com In Nomine Line Editor http://www.io.com/~arcangel/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jul 2002 17:01:24 -0400 From: Elizabeth McCoy Subject: Re: IN>Wounded Earth- Plot Seed At 3:49 PM +0000 7/19/02, Sirea Theyal wrote: [...] >also... throw a Superior or two in the mix to make it more interesting. William ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jul 2002 00:58:10 -0400 (EDT) From: "Christopher Anthony" Subject: IN> Animal Crackers It's not true that servitors of Animals and servitors of Lightning universally don't get along. In point of fact, some of the most successful pairings in the history of Heaven have been made between angels in Jordi's service and those in Jean's. These teams have often been wildly successful, fusing animal instinct with technological know-how to create vast innovations in biotechnology, nanotechnology, and disease research. Sadly, one bad apple will spoil the bunch. One particular pairing - their names are lost to history, possibly deliberately - decided that there were simply too many benefits to animal forms, and that the best way to work in Earth's environment was to develop a creature who implemented the most effective features found in animals across the Earth. Although ornithorhynchus anatinus, their final creation, was a hit with servitors of Laughter (and later Dark Humor), it just wasn't what the angels wanted, and discouraged, they headed back to the lab and the drawing board. The pair have not been seen since - although odd noises have been heard on occasion to come from the office they shared - but one of the relics of their research has become a lasting phenomenon among servitors of Lightning and Animals: Animal Crackers. Animal Crackers are essentially one-shot relics with built-in Numinodes Corpus. Oddly, they've recently become explainable as a nanotechnological retrovirus designed to give the user a single characteristic of a single animal for a short duration; still more oddly, this is essentially what they do. The Numinous Corpus is simply the Symphony's way of expressing that. The eater of an Animal Cracker may basically choose any single feature (horns, wings, venom) that the animal whose shape the Cracker bears posseses. (For instance, a cracker in the shape of an elephant could grant tusks, armored skin, or a prehensile nose, among other features.) The feature must be chosen as the cracker is eaten (else, the relic is destroyed but has no effect), and lasts as long as a Numinous Corpus at a level equal to the artifact's level. The effects are also the same as the closest equivalent Numinous Corpus (see Liber Canticorum for expanded Numinodes Corpus). Because of their inexpensiveness and their utility, Animal Crackers often come in boxes (containing 15-30 of the relics). Eating a second Animal Cracker overrides the first: the benefit of the second appears immediately, and the benefit of the first disappears at the same time. Animal Crackers Song (Numinous Corpus): 3/level One use: total / 5 Total: 1 CP (level 1), 2 CP (levels 2-3), 3 CP (levels 4-5), 4 CP (level 6) Box of Crackers (30 level 1 Crackers): 18 CP Box of Crackers (15 level 5 Crackers): 45 CP ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jul 2002 18:41:46 +0000 From: "Sirea Theyal" Subject: Re: IN>Wounded Earth- Plot Seed > >At 3:49 PM +0000 7/19/02, Sirea Theyal wrote: >[...] > >also... throw a Superior or two in the mix to make it more interesting. > >Say, Gabriel, Eli, Saminga, Kobal...?
