I NPC'ed Jordan, Seraph of Judgment, in Maya's Fiat Justita game. There was an Elohite of Judgment as a regular PC for rather a while, too. http://homepages.tcp.co.uk/~maya/nomine/fiat.html (Some of the back buttons may not yet work. I haven't tweaked all umpty of the files to point back to their new home on _my_ site yet...) A lot of playing one depends on how your GM views Dominic. "Tough and tricky but fair under it" versus "over-reacting poker-spine." If your GM has the latter view, don't try it if you're going to have a vamp and a Bal in the bunch unless everyone's cool with inter-party character-spats. If your GM has the former view, you might be okay with things. As a note, in the fanfic that Jordan originally appeared in, he eventually got placed in service to Destiny, with the intent to transfer his Heart eventually (give it a century or two, to make sure that he's suited to Destiny; that's not long to Suepriors -- it's practically a sleepover!). He was just too "nice" for the service. Therefore, if you want some of the Judgment background, but the GM doesn't want to go with a long-term undercover agent with, probably, enough wiggle-room in instructions to work on a little 'redemption,' you could be in service to another Word, or actively transfered (probably Destiny; Dominic likes Yves) as an ex-Dominican. - --Beth, arcangel@io.com / archangel@sjgames.com In Nomine Line Editor http://www.io.com/~arcangel/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Jul 2002 17:42:37 -0400 From: Elizabeth McCoy Subject: Re: IN> Animal Crackers At 1:34 PM -0400 7/21/02, Christopher Anthony wrote: >Michael Walton said: >> But what about the prize? In actuality, Asmodeus rarely does anything quite that obvious, and basis his Codewords on various sources, changing every few years. This year, it's diseases and related illnesses. Pity for the servitor who has to be called "Clamedea" for a couple years. Nevertheless, it's very frequent for those -outside- The Game to refer to it's operations and elements using Game-based Nomenclature. It's helped by the fact that while Gamesters never openly use game-based themes in their codewords, their activities -can- be summed up using gaming terms. When The Game picks a suspected Demon, for exemple, it's known as "Taking a Piece", and Heaven calls The Game's occasional replacement of a redemption candidate with a double-agent leaking false information as "Castling". Thus, it comes to no surprise that while the Gamesters refer to themselves using various euphemisms and titles such as "Operative", "Inspector" and "Repressive Agent", those outside the game have classified The Game's operatives using terms based on Chess. The Pawns: Quite obviously, this refers to The Game's average Fledged Servitors. The term is also used to refer to any Agent of The Game, whether willing or unwitting. Pawns are The Game's most expandable "pieces", and are generally only taken into consideration with the question "Who are they setting up?" The Knights: Another obvious connection, this is used to refer to the Knights of Judgement. Knights areThe Game's active Troubleshooters, sent into difficult areas to investigate a situation damaging to Hell and determine the best way to deal with it, whether it be personally, by manipulating other Demons into solving it, or by sending the problem up the ladder for another Gamester to handle. The Rooks: This refers to Captains of Integrity, who are often assigned to deal with "problem individuals" who are Important to the Game, whether to protect them or to "remove" them. The Bishops: This refers generally to Baron of Justice. High-powered Wordbound, and other highly important Servitors of The Game. Bishops are only "put into play" when The Game has very problematic situations, such as dealing with Rebellious Wordbound or jeopardized Tethers. The Queen: This codeword is used to refer to The Game's most dangerous operative, often considered to be Asmodeus' own "Right Hand". The exact identity of this "Queen" is always a matter of speculation, but the most common rumors claim that The Queen is Asmodeus' personal Assassin, a Demon of power levels second only to that of a Prince, answerable only to the Dread Prince of The Game. Note that the use of these Codewords varies from User to User. Some Demons actually use Bishops for the Captains and Rooks for the Barons, depending on which piece they consider more important in the game. Others argue that there are two colors of Pieces used by The Game: one Black, dealing with Demons, and one White, dealing with Angels. And yet Others use Card Game terms instead. When asked about the subject, Gamesters just smile... and have you Interrogated about where you learned the slang terms. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Jul 2002 19:18:31 -0500 From: "Prodigal" Subject: Re: IN>Wounded Earth- Plot Seed From: "Elizabeth McCoy" > > Or, one could ditch Sammy and Kobal, and simply be amused with > Asmodeus (who also visits his Servitors frequently, and wouldn't > you HATE to be the Servitor he was with when this happened?), Dominic, > Eli, and Gabriel. Am I the only one who would have Nybbas earthside when this happened? I mean really, with the majority of other superiors cut off from the corporeal, Media would have nearly unlimited scope for advancement, allowing its prince to gain even more power and influence over the rest of the Hevanly and Hellish power structures. Another interesting possibility this raises is that of the superiors stuck here competing for resources amongts themselves, with angels belonging to superiors stuck in the celestial realms becoming a commodity as (or almost as) greatly desired as soldiers on both sides. How will the superiors of those who switched alliegance react whenever they are once again able to contact those who jumped ship? This also makes the Marches even more important than they already were, since dreamscapes now become the only method of passing messages between the two realms that have been severed from each other. Blandine and Beleth become more important to their respective sides, as their forces are the most experienced both at keeping friendly forces safe, and at detecting the movements of the enemey. And each side would likely increase the overtures they made toward the ethereals, to use as hired help, go-betweens and the like. That's assuming that the same effect which prevents travel between celestial and corporeal extends itself to the ethereal, at least. But I can't see this working otherwise. They could be the ONLY way to get messages to Heaven and Hell, via dreaming and talking to respective agents of Beleth or Blandine. The two Mistresses of the Marches would probably get an EXPLOSION in personal power, as the method of dream messages, and going through the Marches for Heaven and Hell become extremely used and valuable. This also gives all sides a chance for a breather and planning, as no one can really do much but sit around and wait... but who knows what's going on Earth while they're all sitting on their duffs. It's not anything too neat, but it seems to be the only mini-project I've had energy for of late. Please tell me what you think.) Harold gasped for air as he ran through the narrow streets of the seedy part of town. It was just like him to get stuck in a rainstorm, start getting stalked by some lunatic with a freaking SWORD, who had been following him all day, and then end up in the worst part of town. In his hurry to escape from his killer, Harold ran out into a side street and was nearly smashed by a car that swerved at the last second to avoid him. He stopped dead to catch his breath, having been scared still. By the time he recalled he was being chased by a madman, it was too late, as he turned around just in time to be stabbed directly in the gut with said sword by the killer. Harold screamed and collapsed down, wondering why in the world this was happening to him, and felt warm water on his face as he landed in a rain puddle. He looked up into the face of his killer, who was laughing madly as he pulled a gun out to finish him off. Harold closed his eyes and wished he could have told his wife he loved her before the end. But the end didn't come, as all he heard was a choked cry of pain. Opening his eyes, he saw the oddest thing- the killer was dancing about, blood spraying from him, almost as if he was being attacked... but no one else there. Then Harold realized someone WAS there, as three hooded people appeared from thin air! Two of them moved in to finish the killer off, and the third one came over to Harold. Too weak to speak, Harold simply looked into the eyes of his savior, as he felt the life ebbing from him. The figure bent beside him and took it's hood off to reveal the face of an effeminate man, who smiled as he bent down to place his hands on Harold's wound. Before he blacked out, Harold recalled a feeling of intense relaxation, and visions of the man turning into a beautiful giant of watery light. He was shocked to wake up in the hospital bead the next morning with barely a scratch on him, and his wife by his side. Outside, the rain had cleared, and sunlight poured into the little room. Eklizeal, Grigori Archangel of the Rain "The World will be healed by soft rains..." *Dissonance* It is dissonant for Servitors of the Rain to incite anger in someone for any reason, unless it is to help save their life from immediate danger. The dissonance leaves if the angel can directly placate the angry person within the next (total forces) minutes. Angels of the Rain have to be very careful with the words they choose, and tend to keep a low profile, lest they become ash piles of dissonance... *Organization* Eklizeal considers herself the unworthy but still strident successor of Oannes, the Archangel of the Waters. She has a sizeable number of the Waters orphans under her wing, and does an amazing job of being secret for having so many servitors. She concerns herself with fighting the forces of Belial, and trying to gain enough power to kill him where her master failed before. Her second priority, which she sees as being just as important, is to help mankind and try to heal their ever increasing wounds from the terrible War. Eklizeal was touched by God's light and granted her Superiorhood, and she will not fail. With over 1,000+ angels in her service though, it's getting tougher and tougher to be a Grigori. Luckily, so few people still remeber her that it'll be a while before she has to reveal herself to anyone. Even Belial doesn't know she's after him. *Choir Attunements* Seraphim (R): By expending 3 essence, a Seraph of the Rain can see anyone in a vessel for what they truly are, with the vision lasting for check digit minutes. This only works in a natural rainstorm. Cherubim (PR): If the attuned of the Cherub is destroyed, he can get rid of the dissonance by washing their attuned for one hour in natural rainwaters. This must be done within one day of the attuned being destroyed, and only one dissonance can be removed by this method. Ofanim (R): Wheels of the Rain can _ignore_ their choir dissonance conditions if they are in a natural rainstorm, OR they can automatically get the Walk in the Rain attunement. (sidebar) Helpful or Heretical? One would question the nature of Eklizeal's Ofanim attunement- it basically says they can take their sweet time in anything, as long as they're in a natural rainstorm, which seems like madness to many outsider Ofanim, and don't you dare mention this to Dominic... Well, that's the whole point. Eklizeal runs a big operation- and she’s a Grigori. Not a good combination. She has no place, NO place, for people who might rush into things and screw it all up. Her Word does embody the speed and chaos of rain, which appeals to Ofanim, but she more strongly draws into the calm and quiet aspects of her Word, as is required by her Grigori nature... and she just likes it more that way. If the Ofanim is REALLY uncomfortable with the idea, she offers the Walk in the Rain attunement instead- but the Ofanim will be strictly told that it will never be involved in any delicate activity unless they take the choir attunement. You just can't take some risks. (/sidebar) Elohim: These Elohim will know automatically what will calm down an angry person- note though, that sometimes this will be impossible to do for the person, especially if they are a demon or angel. ("You resonate the screaming man, and see to calm him down you would need to kill every Servitor of Michael in a 100 mile radius.") Malakim (PR): For 3 essence, these Malakim can make the next attack that hits do soul damage, regardless of whether the target is in celestial form or not. Bright Lilim: Bright Lilim of the Rain can make any negative Need disappear if they get the target to stay out in the rain for one hour per level of Need while talking to the Lilim about it. The target must have some desire to not want the Need anymore though. Kyriotates: Whomever the Dominations of the Rain possess will be calm and relaxed, no matter how mad they may normally get; they are immune to feeling anger. The host can add the Kyrio's ethereal forces to their resistance rolls for any discord relating to anger. Mercurian: Eklizeal's Mercurian's can sense any Servitor of Belial or Oannes on the spot with a perception roll, and from then on their vessel will glow with either a red (Belial), or blue (Oannes) light. Grigori (R): Grigori of the Rains can become invisible as per the corporeal Song of Invisibility when they are directly in the rain of a natural storm. *Servitor Attunements* Walk in the Rain: For one essence, the angel will know the most direct way (like a 6 on a Ofanim resonance) to the closest natural rainstorm. This attunement is given to all Servitors of the Rain once they are able to prove their worth to Eklizeal as part of her organization. Storm Blade: For one essence, the angel can make the rain damage one target, doing 1 hit per second, lasting for (angels forces) seconds. When used, this makes the rain into small impaling shards, and is intensely painful for anyone who is affected by it. If the target gets out of the rain, they will no longer be affected. Water of Life: Can cast the corporeal Song of Healing for free when in a natural rainstorm. Show me Heaven: For 4 essence, the angel can make all tethers become tinted a certain color when in a natural rainsotrm. The color depends the Word, like reddish-pink for Lust, sickly gray for Technology, vibrant green for Flowers, or whatever the GM feels like. The angel will know if it is an Infernal or Divine tether on a perception role. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 01:01:00 +0000 From: "Sirea Theyal" Subject: IN>Eklizeal, Grigori Archangel of the Rain, part II *Distinctions* Vassal of Heavenly Tears: This distinction allows an angel to clean the dissonance from a willing and repenant celestial, be they angel or demon. First, the angel and the repenant must be outside in a natural rainstorm. Next, the repenant MUST be sorry for the act that gave them the dissonance, if they are not sorry, it will not work. If both requirements are met, then the repenant may begin to confess to the angel why they gained the dissonance, and why they are sorry. One point of dissonance may be removed per hour, and the repenant will shed it by crying it out with dark colored tears. Friend of the Golden Sky: Everywhere the angel goes, people will become calm and serene, and very resistant to negative and angry thoughts. Everyone within sight of the angel is at a +6 to all roles to resist feelings of anger or hatred. Master of the Silent Rains: Eklizeal's Masters can summon a rainstorm at will, and it will be counted as being natural rain for all other attunements. Also, for 4 essence, they can make anyone who is not Symphonically Aware to totally stop and listen to the rain until the storm ends, and they will not notice anything that happens around them, allowing the angel to go unnoticed. (sidebar) Natural Rain When the description of an attunement says that the angel must be in a natural sotrm for it to work, it means that it must be in a naturally occuring rainstorm, not one created or caused by celestials in any way. Wherever Eklizeal goes, there is a constant rainstorm, which is counted as being natural, as is the rain that can be created by a Master of the Silent Rains. (/sidebar) *Other Distinctions* Maiden of the Waters: This is a distinction granted to all the orphans of Oannes who wish to get revenge on Belial. They gain several convential powers- one, they can spot the Servitors of Belial on sight. Two, they can summon Eklizeal at anytime, wich is usually reserved for when the Maidens encounter high ranking Servitors of Fire, or Belial himself. Three, they are assigned to track down the lost Forces of Oannes, in the hope of being able to ressurect it one day. The Maiden's of the Waters are a nasty bunch, and rank up there with the Tsyadim for their intensely focused hatred of a group. If Belial knew these angels existed, he might mobilize a force immediately to destroy them, seeing as how many of the members used to be high ranking memebers of Oannes, with Master level distinctions and all former attunements intact... *Relations* Allied: No one Associated: Eli Likes: No one Neutral: Everyone else Dislikes: Gabriel Hostile: Dominic Enemy: No one Cold Utter Hatred: Belial *Rites* - -Stand in a (natural) rainstorm for it's entire length (minimum 5 minutes) - -Redeem a demon (worth 3 essence) - -Stop an angel from Falling (worth 2 essence) - -Pacify someone who was about to do something dangerous out of anger *Chance of Invocation* 1 (+1 if in a rainstorm of any kind) Eklizeal is busy, and very very tense- she can't afford to be found, and is playing a giant game of stealth and hiding with Heaven and Hell alike. She has a sizeable number of Servitors, and they go about their work with a calm but intense fervor, doing all they can to smash Belail's forces and help mankind, sharing their Grigori Archangel's love for God's greatest creation. *Invocation Modifier* +1- Camia Bay (where she became a Superior) +2- One of Belial's servitors +3- A Redeemable Demon or near-Fallen (but repenting) Angel +4- One of Oannes orphans +5- One of Oannes Forces +6- Belial *History* You thought Gabriel hated Belial? Well, the Fiery Wrath of God(tm) may be a fearsome and powerful thing, but the strength of cold and utterly human hatred mixed with celestial will is enough to make even Superiors break into a cold sweat. Okay, so Belial betrayed Gabriel and tears at her Word. So he drives her to utter madness with his every breath. So he... well, you know the routine. But she's still alive. She can get her revenge. She isn't a servitor who's lover and Superior was murdered in cold blood (or was it hot?), before her very eyes, while she could do nothing, NOT A DAMN THING, to stop it. She doesn't have word friction, but Eklizeal has something just as terrible- an utterly broken heart. Oannes, the being whom she loved with all of her Heart, the one person who she always expected to be with and serve God with- was murdered. What was worse, Oannes had returned that love, and they both together blessed the sweet waters that brought such purity and life to everything they knew, in those hard times after the Fall and before the Outcasting. Then the death of Vephar. Then the rise of Belial. Then the BASTARD, that $%#@ING PEICE OF $*@#, had to do the unspeakable... let Gabriel bitch and moan, all she has to deal with is a cosmic headache. So Eklizeal, the Wordbound Grigori Angel of the Rain in Oannes service, the one who was in love with the Archangel, shed tears. She shed them day and night, sometimes screaming with madness, other times in bitter silence. They rained from her being, the waters of her soul and love, for the most painful loss she ever knew. Then came the Outcasting of her Choir, and it nearly broke her. The sweet temptation of the Pit called to her like a siren, with promise of revenge against everything. But then, on that first night on Earth, cold, wet and alone in the midst of a grief-powered rainstorm, Eklizeal found herself. She had been on the very edge, her celestial nature already twisting into darkness... when God came to her. She was on the ocean shore, ready to descend into blackness when a great wave crashed down, and one of Oannes broken Forces washed up. Then... Eklizeal remembered. There was a War, people who needed her, who needed the Waters still, and the lesser but still powerful cleansing force of the Rain. She picked up the Force and shed the darkness from her heart, and then the stormed ceased. Light broke through the black clouds to shine upon her tear-drenched face, and Eklizeal came into herself, and walked away from the shore the Archangel of the Rains. Belial is now up to his flaming little horns in... well, you get the idea. *Role in the War* It's funny about Eklizeal. She was quite unknown to much of Heaven, even within her own former organization. Now, she is all but a faded memory, and if you mention her name to anyone, you'll usually get "there's an Archangel of the Rain?". Mind you, many of Heavens Superiors knew about her, but few know that she's still alive and fighting, much less a Superior now. Hell knows nothing, but Belial is getting more and more worried about finding his more powerful Servitors having been slaughtered, with the only evidence as to who did it being the fact that each victim was soaked head to toe in rainwater... and their own blood. Eklizeal is like a Corporeal deep agent, serving her cause alone, not caring for Heaven and hating Belial alone in Hell. She loves humans, and wants to help THEM, not some stupid War. So she brings the Rain to mankind when they need it most to heal their already battered souls, and kicks the crap out of Belial when she can. Oh, and if you somehow happen to find one of Oannes Forces floating about, be sure to leave it lying in the next rainstorm your in. If you don't, expect that storm to follow you for every waking moment of your existance until you DO leave it, and God help you if your some punk demon who doesn't know any better... *Personality and Outlook* Eklizeal is an odd one. To begin with, she was the Soldekai of Oannes in a way, and it was a shared love, so when Oannes died... well, it was a shock to some of it's other close Servitors that Eklizeal didn't become a Malakite, or something equally devestating. Then again, she loves peace and quiet, and the gentle aspects of Water, which she believes she represents in her Word and nature. But she must avenge Oannes still, and has a side to her that others describe much like a cross between a hurricane and a tsunami. She can get pretty mad. She still maintains her loving and peaceful side, and regrets that she sometimes forgets her human friends in her battle against Belial, but she makes SURE to always put humans first when she gets too caught up in avenging her dead master. It'll all mean nothing if humans die. Nothing. In celestial form, Eklizeal appears as a misty female giant, with drops of gold colored rain falling from a golden cloud always above her. Her eyes are a watery but powerful blue, and reflect the sad love she has for mankind and the Waters. Wherever she goes, there is a constant rainstorm, with little wind, warm water, and just the right humidity. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 01:03:04 +0000 From: "Sirea Theyal" Subject: IN>Eklizeal, Grigori Archangel of the Rain, part III *Superior Opinions* Michael: "Who? The Rain? Well... I think I remember one angel with that Word. No concern to me however." "War... can't live with it, can't live without it, huh?" Novalis: "Eklizeal was a pleasant girl when she was still with us. Our Words clashed well, and if she is alive as you say, then they still do. Make sure she stays in good health." "I always liked Flowers, but aside from our Word meshing, we have little else in common... excecpt maybe our love of mankind and out desire to protect them." Jean: "The Rain. Rain and Lightning often go together when they occur in nature, but from what I gather, we have very little in common for our goals and ideals." "I never let there be lightning in my rainstorms, for that indicates destruction and wrath, not a part of my Word at all. I could be much worse and clash well with him, but rage too often leads to the Pit... and I already walked that edge once." Janus: "Wind and Rain, goes good together! So where can I find this gal anyway?" "Rain brings life, Wind brings change. He's doing his job well, and I hope he keeps at it. I find it funny the rumors about him being Theft at the same time, but if you think about it, maybe Theft just stole all of Wind's ideas to represent his Word better?" Laurence: "I'm afraid I recall no one with that name or Word. Is she one of the lost Grigori? I should report that to Dominic, contact with that Choir is forbidden." "Ah... he's a cutie, but he needs to loosen up. He's doing pretty well at his job. I'll hate to see the day when he's as jaded and grizzled as Michael is..." Dominic: "What? A Grigori Archangel? Where? I'm afraid I'll have to subject you to immediate Inquisition on this topic, so don't move. We need to hear everything you know. Contact with that Choir is a major offense you realize." "Dominic... *wrinkles her face in disgust* he may be doing his job, but he's letting his Word consume him. He needs to temper it with Justice, which I think would have been a FAR better Word for him. Judgement is easily too evil, Justice has less of a chance for failure, and is more fair." Jordi: "The rain gives the animals water to drink, pure and mostly clean from the pollution of man. It's sad that she is of the human-lovers Choir, or I may have a better opinion of her." "This guy... gal... thing... whatever, he creeps me out. I sometimes wonder what would happen if he Fell, and I get this nasty twisty feeling in my gut. Every Grigori has made an oath to hunt him down if he does Fall, because we all just know his Word would end up being Genocide or Destruction of Man or something like that." Blandine: "I know too little about this supposed Archangel to say anything useful I'm afraid." "You know, I can relate to her. She lost Beleth to Lucifer's damned Lies, and I respect anyone who lost someone they love. I suppose I'm lucky... at least Oannes didn't Fall. Like I amost did..." Eli: "You know, I bet I've talked to more Grigori in my years traveling than any other Choir. They're so close to Man that they may as well be 9-force humans. Give this one my regards, and let her know she has a pal for those daker nights. It helps, I would know." "I consider Eli one of my own Choir, with how close he wants to be with Man. While I have no idea what he's doing down here, I appreciate his kindness and will help him and his own whenever possible. Considering his position, he's gonna need it." David: "Rain will eventually weather stone into sand, but the sand still stays together, even when it becomes one with the sea. There is unity in rain." "While I'm not exactly keen on David's attitude and world views, he's still respectable and kind. I wish to see him return to his Cherub nature when this whole fiasco has finally ended." Gabriel: She dares to insult ME?! (Random spewing of fire and angry prophecy ensues) "Look, I'm not saying see doesn't have it bad, she does. The Seraphim Council does jack-diddly to help her, and Dominic was a jerk for actually prosecuting her. All I'm saying is that she whines too much. Yeah, she has the worst case of Word-friction anyone has ever seen, but God! I wish she would just shut up! At least... she didn't lose anyone she loved with all her heart..." Marc: "Just between the two of us, I have helped some Grigori on earth from tiem to time... and although she isn't high on my agenda, she is a Grigori, and if she really needs something, she'll get it. Well... if the price is right that is." *Winks* "Trade is one of the oldest Words man ever invoked, and goes on stronger still today. I just wish man would not be too consumed with the material world, but such is our... um, their nature. It's not like people such as Mammon or Nybbas help though." Yves: "She avoided a most Dark and untimely Fate, and remembered what it was to be Grigori and an angel of God just in time. Though I do not know her ultimae Destiny as yet, I do see a Bright road for her ahead. She need only remember what she stands for in her Word." "You know what? A lot of people dislike Yves because he's so vauge. Take Michael for example. I on the otherhand, actually like that kind of stuff. I mean, Destiny is Destiny, and while I'm no expert on the Word, I think Heaven should appreciate their little super-scholar more than they do. Think of a world without Yves..." *shudders* (Whew. That's all! I think I need to get a website for this kind of thing... I apologize for it being so disjointed, and hope it didn't go over 10k per post. It said 10k on my mail thing... so I'm assuming it's safe) _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #2713 ********************************
