It's the Perseid showers - they're making people do weird things (such as not post to the INML). If you're ever curious whether or not you're still s u b scribed to the list, send a message to majordomo@lists.io.com, no subject, with the following body (subtract the spaces from the first word): w h i c h Majordomo will respond with a list of the mailing lists to which you are s u b scribed. If, for some reason, you're not s u b scribed to in_nomine-l or in_nomine-digest, you'll need to res u b scribe. You will *always* get an email back from majordomo, though, unless lists.io.com is down for some reason (in which case you should get a bounce). - -EDG ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Aug 2002 19:54:54 -0700 (PDT) From: W S Subject: IN> New Bizare Ideas Gathering! Booya! Alright, fine. Since ya'll clearly need to be poked with a sharp stick, here's an idea- Come up with ten to twelve new Superior Words for each side, for to replace the current crop. The group of Words needs to, between them, be able to fill in roughly the same positions as currently exist- although functions may be redived up. One to one coralations should be avoided (No turning Novalis in the Archangel of Peace :) Themes are a bonus :) Angelic (body themed) - - Mind (Eholite) Heart (Cherub) Soul (Seraph) Eyes (Eholite) Hands (Malakite) Feet (Ofanite) Blood (Kyriotate) Tears (Mercurian) Sweat (Cherub) Bone (Malakite) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Booya! W S said: > Alright, fine. Since ya'll clearly need to be poked > with a sharp stick, here's an idea- Interesting idea, but: 1) We really, truly don't need a contest every thirty seconds. While coming up with neat stuff is a big part of this list, so are "What if?" posting and discussion of existing issues - and frankly, the latter two seem to garner more responses than the former. Just make sure you're not beating a dead horse when you start one of those threads. 2) Contests, especially ones as specific as this one, tend to stifle creativity rather than encouraging it: people do their best work when they don't have such tight constraints. I, for one, would love to see another Iron Rev go through; it's been long enough since the last one, IIRC, that people might be willing to give it another shot. 3) It's not indicative of disinterest that people aren't posting; I may well have tracked all of them down and sucked their brains out with a straw. (That, by the way, is yet another ritual for making a Zombie. Like Saminga gets all the secrets.) Which is another way of saying: there are other reasons why people might not be posting. Consider that it's con season. Many listmembers likely went to Gen*Con this past weekend, and are either just getting back or are recovering. Oh, and... > Mind (Eholite) > Eyes (Eholite) 5) Elohite. Elohite, damn it. - -EDG ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 00:23:04 -0400 (EDT) From: "Christopher Anthony" Subject: IN> Logo Logo: Corporeal Discord This Discord takes the form of a tattoo on a part of the body that is easily obscured by clothing; the tattoo takes the form of an association with which the afflicted celestial is (or was lately) affiliated, even if that involves the sigil of a Choir, Band, Archangel, or Prince. Which association's logo the Discord uses is entirely up to the GM. The trouble comes in that the tattoo will transfer itself, in full color, through clothing, in the form of a patch, iron-on transfer, or inked design. This happens to any item of clothing that the celestial wears that covers the tattoo, although the sigil disappears as soon as the clothing is removed. It will even display through multiple layers of clothing, going as far as it needs to in order to display on the outermost layer. The level of the Discord determines how distinct the logo is: 1: The logo is muddy and barely visible, requiring a Perception roll at -4 to see clearly what it actually looks like.2: The logo is indistinct and faint, requiring a Perception roll at -2 to see clearly what it actually looks like.3: The logo is fuzzy and lightly drawn, requiring a Perception roll to see clearly what it actually looks like.4: The logo is of standard tattoo quality, and can be seen automatically. 5: The logo is of superior tattoo quality, and draws the attention of anyone looking at the afflicted character.6: The logo is crystal-clear, and allows anyone who sees it to make an Intelligence roll (at a penalty equal to the afflicted celestial's Corporeal Forces) to determine what organization it belongs to; this roll succeeds automatically if the organization is an Earthly one that is publically known (such as the Soviet Union's hammer and sickle, Dell Corporation's slanted E, or a medieval prince's crest). ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 00:45:12 -0400 From: "Eric Bertish" Subject: Re: IN> Logo > This Discord takes the form of a tattoo on a part of the body that is > easily obscured by clothing; the tattoo takes the form of an > association with which the afflicted celestial is (or was lately) > affiliated, even if that involves the sigil of a Choir, Band, Gee, Chris, I wonder what gave you this idea? *looks at right arm* Nah, can't be it. - -- Casca, who is really an angel. Booya! Hm. Fair enough. :) Still, I've noticed (even in mine relativly brief time on the list) that there tends to be a sharp decrease in the posts whenever there isn't a topic at hand, and that most of the topics-at-hand tend to be introduced almost arbitrarily. Hence, trying some shock therapy. And anyways, I'm at level 5, I /have/ to poke people with a sharp stick :) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? But some day, and that day may never come, I will ask >>you to repay this favor. And you will agree, _now_, to repay me.) An item with a cost of 1 CP doesn't support an in-game cost of three level-6 geases. Owing someone three favors that can *each* be easily used to make the debtor sacrifice his life for what is essentially a padlock isn't by any means a fair trade. It's not exactly an unduplicatable feat to make one of these devices, and someone's going to be undercutting MacNorma very, very quickly. According to Liber Reliquarum, a MacNorma's Doorman would have a creation time of about 15 months - not even enough to support two geases at level 6. A bottom-line creator could get away with charging a single geas/6, rationalizing that it would be about a year's worth of effort for the buyer. In addition, you seem to be charging character points *in addition to* the multiple geases. A character point typically represents time or resources expended, and the geases are a manifestation of the same thing. Why force the character to pay twice for a single item? - -EDG ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 19:25:50 +0000 From: "Sirea Theyal" Subject: IN>ARGH!
