The Archangel combats this, constantly reminding humanity of the few, simply, great truths -- God is one, is creator and ruler, is good and righteous. > "Thou shalt not make unto thyself any graven image": > - Kyriotate Archangel of Mystery > - Habbalite Prince of Idolatry The Prince sends humans to invest their confidence and love in all manner of idols -- not only religious statuary, but superstitions, ideologies, and all manner of means that have eclipsed their ends. The Archangel is the patron of mystics, who seek the ineffable, and constantly reminds humanity to probe beneath appearances to find truth. > "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain": > - Cherub Archangel of Piety > - Impudite Prince of Blasphemy Turning religious names into curses is only a hobby for this Prince. Its main work is making people pretend they have God's authority to act and speak in His name, when in fact they do not. Thus is God's name dragged in the gutter. The Archangel works to keep all done in God's name worthy of Him, and inspires religious folk of all sorts, especially clerics, to be examples of righteousness. > "Thou shalt remember the sabbath and keep it holy": > - Cherub Archangel of the Sacred > - Djinn Prince of the Profane This pair have branched out more than most. But then, the Archangel's word was broader to start with. > "Thou shalt not bear false witness": > - Seraph Archangel of Honesty > - Balseraph Prince of Deceit Both have stayed close to their core Words, which are broad. The Archangel is more than a little like Litheroy, the Prince like Nybbas. > "Thou shalt not covet": > - Ophanite Archangel of Generosity > - Djinn Prince of Avarice The Archangel works closely with the Archangel of Probity, lest the prosperous fall victim to Avarice, who works closely with Theft. > "Thou shalt honor thy father and thy mother": > - Malakite Archangel of Respect > - Lilith, Princess of Contempt Both of these have Words already broad compared to their commandments. ADVENTURE SEED: MacNorma's Momma (Lilith) didn't raise no dummies. She charges what the market will bear. And she's willing to spend the effort to make sure the market will bear what she want's it to. Combat in Hell is Celestial, no blipping back to your Heart if you get killed. In addition, MacNorma is a Kung-Fu Bitch and is great friends with Oggy, BigBig and the GunBunny Boys. All have at least 12 Forces, Fighting/6, and Talismans of Fighting/6. (Talismans for which they _still_ owe MacNorma.) These are the kind of demons who would go to Gehenna for vacation, except they have a job they love so every day's a holiday. The players (you thought I forgot them) get mixed up in a scheme to undercut someone else's prices. Guess who's coming for them? Do the players get stuck holding the bag? Is some newly Fallen Creationer naive enough to believe that there is a free market in Hell? (For added spice the Creationer _isn't_ fallen, he's trying to redeem a Fallen friend, who is in turn trying to make him Fall. And is that a Triad of Judgement lurking in the shadows?) What ever the situation, MacNorma & Co. are coming to shut down the operation. It's time for Celestial Deathmatch - Shal-Mari Style! ===== Brian C. If this happened to be Lilith herself, then the Discord would take the form of Lilith's sigil. If she had worked for a Demon Prince recently, it would take the form of that Prince's sigil. If she had worked for an Earthly organization, it would take the Earthly organization's logo. If she left two or more organizations at the same time and had not been associated with an organization since, the logo would be randomly selected from among the last organizations. >And would a Lilim's Geases show up? Yes, it includes mortals. Average human Intelligence is 4; average celestial Corporeal Forces is 3, which means the average human requires an Intervention to succeed. Particularly intelligent humans (those with 3 Ethereal Forces, or who have very low Precision scores) have a better chance than this, it's true, but then they'll also probably have noticed that there's something rotten in Denmark anyway. In other words, the decision to include mortals was deliberate. - -EDG ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 19:19:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Michael Walton Subject: Re: IN> New Bizare Ideas Gathering! I always wanted to see a DP of Corruption, and was going to use one in my campaign one day, so I wanted to get feedback/corrections/etc. I know it's not original, or in line with any current contests or anything... but here his is anyway, my take on the old DP of C, Mr.B ^_^) Beelzebub, Djinn Demon Prince of Corruption "The World is to be tainted... made into a rotting husk..." *Dissonance* Demons of Corruption gained dissonance whenever they did not try to corrupt something that was pure at least once a day. If they filled their "quota" they needed not try to corrupt anything else, but this was never the case for many of these demons... they LOVED their work. *Choir Attunements* Balseraphim: For every level of discord/disadvantage that the target of the Balseraphs resonance has, they will have a -1 to the roll to resist the resonance. Djinn: Whoever Djinn of Corruption attune to, they will slowly become corrupt as if they were being ridden by a Shedite! Treat the attuned as being possessed by a Shedite as long as the Djinn is attuned to the target. If the Djinn breaks the attunement early, then all of the corruption will go away. Calabim: These Calabim can cause insidious and lasting damage. If they so choose, the damage they do with their resonance can be double what the check digit was, but the damage will come at one point per hour to the subject, and can only be healed with the corporeal Song of Healing. Habbalah: For every successful use of their resonance, the Habbalah's target will find it harder and harder to resist their own emotions. Treat this as any emotional discord or disadvantage the target has as being effectively one higher for every time the Habbalah succeeds at their resonance on the target. If the target succumbs to the discord/disadvantage in a way that further corrupts themselves or someone else, the "extra levels" disappear. These Habbalah were a nightmare to Elohim. Honorium: Although no Honorium served Beelzebub (in Canon anyway) if they did, they could engulf their bodies in a hellish yellow and black flame whenever they fought in celestial form. For every successful hit they landed, their targets Will would go down by one, recovering at the rate of 1 every 2 rounds. Lilim: These Lilim would automatically know the Needs of any corrupted individual. Treat this as being able to sense the individuals level of Need based of the highest Discord or Disadvantage they had. So if an angel had Anger/4, the Lilim would be able to see up to his Needs/4. Shedim: A terrifying precursor to Legion, these Shedim automatically succeeded in possessing anyone, and could selectively corrupt their host. They could choose to degrade morals, health, the mind, the soul, anything they chose. Impudite: For every successive use of their resonance, their target had a -1 to resist the Impudite the next time, often snowballing into people who could never tell the Impudite no. If the Impudite fails a roll at any time, or the target resisted, the penalty was lost. Skulker: These Fallen Grigori would automatically succeed in masking disturbance caused by an act of corruption. *Servitor Attunements* The Black Hand: Whatever these demons touched would be subtly corrupted, softening them for the more heavy things. For 4 essence, whenever the demon touched a human, they would do something in the next 24 hours that was totally out of their moral realm. A priest might speak a heavy blasphemy, a pacifist raise their hand in anger, or a fasting monk gorge themselves on food. If the demon touched an object, it had the effect of the Calabim resonance, with an automatic success, and a slower effect of one damage point per minute. Heart of Darkness: These demons could spend 1 essence and know which of the seven sins their target could be most easily corrupted by. While this always showed the Truth, it never meant that the actual corruption would be easy... Degradation: These demons could impose their own discords on someone else, for substantial essence cost. For essence equal to the level of discord the demon has, they can place it upon any other being within their line of sight. The Discord will stay with the target for 24 hours, after which it returned to the original owner. The demon could extend the duration past 24 hours for 1 essence for each additional hour. Unfortunately, the demon would still register as having the Discord to any demons of the Game, and were not safe from any sudden investigations. As Above, So Below: Upon touching their target, these demons could see in their mind the absolute lowest depths that the target could go. This was not the same as seeing the persons Fate- while the vision they received could certainly be part of the persons Fate, it only showed the potential depths that the targets soul could reach. *Distinctions* Knight of the Yellow Eye: These demons are partly what made Uriel so frothing with rage. Knights of Corruption could spend 2 essence and use the Malakim resonance with an automatic check digit of 2, and only to see the most ignoble thing the target had done in the last week. Captain of the Rotted Heart: These twisted demons could force the dissonance an angel or demon had to double in value, by spending essence equal to the new amount of dissonance the target would have, and only if the target failed a Will roll. For example, if the demon targeted an angel with 3 notes of dissonance, they would have to spend 6 essence and the angel fail a Will roll for the angel to then have 6 notes of dissonance. Baron of the Infinite Fall: These dark masters had a powerful ability... they could force an angel to Fall. For 8 essence, plus whatever the demon had left over, they could force an angel that had at least one level of discord and 2 notes of dissonance to Fall, and only then if they failed a Will roll, modified by how many notes of dissonance and levels of Discord the angel had. *Other Distinctions* The Fallen: This was a unique distinction that Beelzebub gave out to a large number of his valued servitors. This distinction supposedly stopped anyone who had served Corruption to ever Redeem, much like how Uriels angels could never Fall. While this seems redundant, it had a valued effect. First, if the demon refused, they obviously had thoughts of Redemption in mind, and were destroyed by the Game. If they accepted, then no matter how selfless they became, this permanent mark would never let the demon become an angel, they would always die horribly in the process. Novalis had been heard weeping more than once after the horrid cries of an attempted Redemption of one of these demons... *Relations* Allied: No one Associated: Andrealphus, Mammon, Saminga, Magog, Makatiel, Meserach Neutral: Everyone else Hostile: No one Enemy: Asmodeus, Genubath *Rites* - -Permanently corrupt something that was once pure - -Sit in a pool of waste or filth for 6 hours - -Eat the flesh of a decomposed and decaying corpse - -Kill a servitor of Purity (+2 essence) - -Make an angel Fall (+3 essence) *Chance of Invocation* 2 (Insert reasons for having a 2 on invocation roll here) ^_^ *Invocation Modifier* +1- A rotting garbage heap +2- An angel of purity +3- A field of untouched snow completely defiled +4- A totally uprooted graveyard +5- An angel that fell because of corruption +6- The city of Rome (or maybe Sodom/Gomorah?) (History, role in war, etc coming later when I finish it) _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #2741 ********************************
