Well, it would still work out - with Corruption long gone, it might take awhile for Heaven to twig... and since said Baron would have to be a fairly powerful celestial, most PC-level Outcasts couldn't just plug their ears and shoot to kill, assuming they even knew the Baron was a demon! ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Just posting a story I wrote for my IN PC, Tez. Just to give you a *very* brief run-down, the only background knowledge you need to know is Santha is a cherub of War who was attuned to a Grigori named Tezcatlipoca (in my universe Tez is a celestial rather than an ethereal, but that's irrelevant, all you need to know is his name and he's a Grigori). Tezcatlipoca Fell, Santha (being a cherub, and so loyal to his death) stood by him even then, allowed some questionable acts to be committed, sought out the Inquisition for forgiveness and was then put on trial by the Seraphim Council. That's where the story begins. Tell me what you think, I tried to paint Dominic in a much more merciful light. ******************************************* Dominic scanned the Council Chambers, his perceptive gaze missing no detail, no matter how small. At a table directly in front of Dominic's podium stood the accused- Santha, a Cherub of War who was being accused of treason for aligning himself with a Fallen Grigori. Dominic fixed his gaze upon the Cherub for a few moments, a look of perhaps sadness and even mercy showing in the great Seraphim's eyes. The Most Just paused for a few moments longer before speaking, "For the crimes of treason and consorting with the Watchers, this Council finds the Accused guilty as charged. Such a sentence would normally carry with it the punishment of death, but this Council has decided to reduce this sentence given the circumstances. While it is true you did Fall to darkness and your actions did aid in the death of many humans, you did give yourself over to the Council freely and admitted to your crimes against God. More importantly, while your actions may have been questionable, this Council has seen the Truth in your intentions and your soul and deems them both to be sincere and pure. That you acted the way you did not out of pride or anger, but rather compassion and loyalty to a friend- two qualities we on this Council greatly admire- was the primary factor in your favour. It is simply a shame your friend is a Watcher. It is in this same spirit of mercy and compassion that we have decided to sentence you to five hundred years of solitary confinement. After that time you will be released from your cell and no mark will remain on your record..." In the far corner of the room a small grey-haired man with a bright face, radiating peaceful vitality, arose from his seat. "May I make a request of the Council?" the man asked "Of course," replied Dominic, "as always your counsel is greatly appreciated." The Archangel of Destiny continued, "I propose that Santha not be confined, but rather be placed in my care, so that he may acquire a better understanding of the wishes of the Symphony, and avoid such a situation from happening in future." Dominic rubbed his serpentine chin briefly in contemplation before speaking, "Agreed. Santha is to be placed in your care, to educate him as you will. In addition, to remind him of the crimes he has committed, Santha will be confined to a vessel of the Council's choosing until such time as the Council deems he has atoned for his actions, at which point the bindings will be lifted and he will be free again. These procedings are closed. Off the record, Santha, you have brought to the attention of this Council one Hell of a dilemma. In the eyes of this Council your actions were both right... and also wrong. By collaborating with a Watcheri you acted against the express orders of the Seraphim Council, but in no small part facilitated by the Cherubic bond you shared with Tezcatlipoca. In fact, had you gone against your very nature and betrayed him, that may have been a far greater tragedy and this Council does commend your loyalty. How does one weigh up loyalty to the Seraphim Council with staying true to one's nature, in situations where the two conflict? That, by their very nature, both are appointed by God makes the matter very unclear and it is a dilemma that this Council will be deliberating over long after you leave this room." ******************************************* - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
