Criticism wanted.) Belial, Ofanite Archangel of Fury "The World! The world is infested by the rebels of God, and they shall know his FURY!!!" *Dissonance* To lash out in blind fury. When Belial's angels act, they must think about their actions, and not let their anger dictate what they do. When an angel lashes out with anger alone, they will gain dissonance. Also, if the plans of the angel or his companions are ruined from his anger, he will also gain dissonance. These angels are forbidden from having any discord related to anger. *Choir Attunements* Seraphim: Every time someone lies to these Most Holy, they may opt to make the lie messily explode back upon the liar. If the Seraph knows the person lied through their resonance, then with a successful will roll they may inflict (check digit of resonance) body hits upon the liar. Kobal has smiled sadly many times when some evil person has said "And if what I say is untrue, then may God strike me down!" to a Seraph of Fury. Cherubim: The Guardians of Fury will know automatically if their attuned has been the victim of selfish and unrighteous anger, and will recognize the one who was angry at their attuned with a successful perception roll. Ofanim: Wheels of Fury are immune to flame that is corporeal in nature, and are also immune to damage from anyone who has an anger related discord. Elohim: Very few in number, the Elohim of Fury will always know the exact reason why the target of their resonance is angry, and for how long they have been mad. Also, with a successful perception roll, the Power will be able to predict how long their subjects anger will last if the current situation does not change. Malakim: Malakim of Fury are among some of the most feared angels in all the Symphony. When fighting a demon, the Malakite may spend 2 essence to engulf their bodies in a white flame, which lasts for the (Malakite's celestial forces) rounds. When the Malakite hits the demon, they may add their celestial forces to the damage they do. In addition, if the demon hits the Malakite with a melee attack, they must roll to dodge or take (Malakite's celestial forces) damage. Bright Lilim: These Lilim can automatically sense any Need that relates to the target having been wronged and angered by someone else. Kyriotates: These Dominations can possess any fire that is no bigger than their corporeal forces in yards automatically. It gets pretty horrific when they possess a demon that's on fire. Mercurian: These angels will not suffer from choir dissonance if they kill a hellsworn human that has wronged another of his kind within the last (Mercurian's ethereal forces) hours. Grigori: If a demon causes any disturbance when they are angry, a Watcher of Fury will know automatically, as their ears have become incredibly sensitive to the disturbance of anger. *Servitor Attunements* Wrath of God: Same as Belial's canonical Incendiary attunement. Smoldering Fury: Same as Gabriel's canonical Smite attunement. Infernal Memory: Whenever these angels are affected by their Fallen counterparts resonance, and know about it, they may opt to immediately make a will roll at a penalty of the demons celestial forces to force the resonance back upon the demon. Unlike backlash though, this acts as if the demon had used it upon themselves in the first place. *Distinctions* Vassal of Fury: These angels can inflict the emotion of Fury on humans with a successful will roll, like the Habbalah resonance, but only for beneficial purposes. If the angel inflicts the anger without an appropriate reason in mind, they will incur a note of dissonance. Friend of the Wronged: It is one thing to be angry, and another to act upon that anger. If these angels find a human who is mad because they have been wronged, with a successful will roll they can make the human act upon their fury and do something to better the situations. Abused wives strike their husband down or call the police with no fear, bullied children strike back when harmed, verbally abused people let their thoughts and hurt be known with perfect clarity. If the subject of the angels power is normally pacifistic, they will feel no lasting guilt after they stand up and act upon their anger, they will feel justified. Master of Indignation: With this distinction, the angel may add their celestial forces to ANY damage roll they make when attacking a demon who has caused the angel righteous fury. *Other Distinctions* Seekers of the Lost Flame: These angels are charged with seeking out servitors of Wrath, and showing them the fury of God and Belial for Gabriel's betrayal. With a perception roll, these angels will know if there are any servitors of Wrath within (angels corporeal forces) yards of them. *Relations* Allied: Baal Associated: Valefor, Haagenti, Fufur Neutral: Everyone else Hostile: Andrealphus Enemy: No one *Rites* - -Deliver righteous fury upon someone who has wronged another - -Kill a servitor of Wrath - -Convince someone to stand up for themselves *Chance of Invocation* 2 Belial is busy and very active in the war, and has little time to tend to the needs of his servitors. He expects them to go out and deliver God's fury upon the unrighteous, and kill every single last servitor of Wrath. Although their Words are different, Belial still suffers some friction, as Fury and Wrath are closely tied. *Invocation Modifier* +1- A roaring fireplace +2- Someone filled with righteous fury +3- Someone who has been the victim of unchecked wrath +4- A burning field +5- Someone who died because they stood up for themselves +6- 10,000 people filled with righteous fury _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 11:36:45 -0400 From: "Roger Williby" Subject: Re: IN>Belial, Ofanite Archangel of Fury I would think that Wrath works better as a divine word than Fury. I considered that at first, but wrath has too many negative connotations associated with it, and it is also one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Wrath is Gabriels Word, and fury at her betrayal and Hell is what Belial represents. Wrath is uncontrolled anger, fury is anger with a purpose. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 16:47:44 +0000 From: "Sirea Theyal" Subject: Re: IN>Belial, Ofanite Archangel of Fury >Are these actually the Relations for Gabriel? > >>Belial, Ofanite Archangel of Fury >[snip] >>*Relations* >> >>Allied: Baal >>Associated: Valefor, Haagenti, Fufur >>Neutral: Everyone else >>Hostile: Andrealphus >>Enemy: No one Nope. This is normally unheard-of; people typically have four limbs, and rare is the vertebrate who has more. Most are mutants of one kind or another, and indeed this was what Harold Harvey Hinckermann, Jr., seemed to be. The strangeness arose in the form in which Harold's mutation occurred: stretching from his scapulae were a pair of arms, bent at the elbows and tapering to points, which had skin and muscle stretched in a vane from shoulder to wrist. There were no feathers, which relieved Harold Harvey Hinckermann and Mary Catherine Hinckermann tremendously. It is something of a miracle that the boy was kept a secret for so long. His father bought normal clothing for him, into which his mother cut slits for his spare arms, and schooled him at home - only natural, as the nearest school, public or private, was over 50 miles away - and for the first eighteen years of his life, Harold Harvey Hinckermann, Jr. never left Hinckermann Farm. Then, one fine spring day, a fire caught in the kitchen. Harold was out tending the field with a few of the hired hands when he heard his mother's screams; when he reached the house, it was nothing but a pile of ash, two sets of charred bones, and a pair of gold rings, each on the finger of one of the skeletons, untouched by the fire. On that day, Harold decided to leave Hinckermann Farm, allowing the fields to turn to meadows, and headed for the city. Before he left, he unstrung a bale of hay, and used the twine to make a necklace, hanging his parents' golden rings around his neck. That was last week. Now that the Devil-Man has made his appearance in Mt. Vernon, the rest of the Union, and to an extent the world, has been rather shaken. H.H. Hinckermann, Jr.'s spare arms have grown to an eight-foot wingspan, and he didn't realize how much they'd shock the rest of the world. (He also didn't realize quite how much the Hinckermanns were paying the hired hands to keep quiet.) Every newspaper in the country is scrambling to print stories on H.H. Hinckermann, Jr., and it's inevitable that some celestial forces are going to be called in to investigate. This is, in the grandest of grand traditions and the hoariest of gaming cliches, where the PCs come in. Demonic PCs are, of course, going to be flocking to Devil-Man. Their assignment is to make sure that H.H. Hinckermann, Jr. really does become a force for evil, and their superiors have authorized the team to grant H.H. a number of talismans and relics in order to win him over. (Baal in particular has requested to be summoned as soon as H.H. has come to the Dark Side, so that the War can provide him with an extra Force and an attunement or two.) Now, naturally, just to make things interesting, some of these talismans, relics, and attunements are going to provide things that the PCs can't actually do themselves... Angelic PCs are going to be investigating H.H. and his family, to make sure that he isn't a) demonic, b) angelic, or c) one of the dread Children of the Grigori. But wait - do they know about the Grigori and their children? Better bring in Joseph Kevin Watt, helper to the Hinckermanns all his life, just as his father and grandfather were. He's about H.H.'s age, and has known H.H. all his life (they grew up together, and were both taught by Mary Catherine). He'll be more than happy to talk all about H.H. Hinckermann, Jr., the farm, the family, and anything else the PCs would like to know about, just so long as they're not government agents (to whom he won't say a word). Joe Watt, you see, is one of the Children of the Grigori - and a fairly powerful one at that. He's been around for ages on end: his grandfather was set to watch one of the Hinckermanns' ancestors back before the time of Christ, and the three of them have been cycling through ever since, Corporeal Entropy de-aging them every time someone needs to die and a new keeper needs to be born. H.H. Hinckermann isn't: he's just a normal human being, with a bit of a mix-up in his birth that caused his twin to be melded with his own body. No divine or infernal interventions, no demons or angels (well, no *real* angels, anyway) hanging out to influence the birth: hell, he can't even fly with the things. (Not that the demonic PCs aren't trying to change that...) Of course, once the angelic team and the demonic team mesh, the fur is going to start to fly. Angels and demons are going to start trying to take each other out in as many fun and creative ways as possible - don't blame them, it's just their nature - which is why the first few assassination attempts are probably going to go unnoticed, as strikes in the skirmish between good and evil. Once the teams start realizing that neither side fired the shots, though, and figure out that both sides actually want him alive... ...they're going to run right into three agencies who want to get rid of H.H. Hinckermann, Jr., and all that he represents. The first is the CIA: they're sure that this is some plot or other, and even though they're not technically supposed to be handling this, they've brought it into their bailiwick by declaring it a matter of national security, and are now attempting to eliminate that threat, regardless of what outside nation brought it in, regardless of how innocent H.H. might actually be, and regardless of what it is they're *supposed* to be doing. The second is the Iraqi Ministry of Defense. The Minister is so convinced that this is a special weapon designed to rain terror and injustice upon Iraq and the Middle East that he's willing to infiltrate the United States and have H.H. killed before the United States can tout him as a sign of the Christian God favoring the West. (The fact that he's about to create a martyr - as well as an international incident - has yet to cross his mind.) The third... well, we might as well call this force the Seven John Dillingers On The Overpass for all the good it's going to do us to name him. What the PCs can find out is that he's a human assassin - a very, very good human assassin with seven Forces who nonetheless is not a Soldier, a Saint, or an Undead - in the employ of one of the major Superiors. (I'll give you the GM a hint: it's Kobal.) Even he's not sure why H.H. Hinckermann has to die; he was just given an assignment and $40 million in cash. The objective is, of course, to keep H.H. alive until the PCs can spirit him off somewhere safe (like, say, Antarctica). Bonus points for defeating and/or killing off the would-be assassins; penalties if the other team gets custody and gets him to safety first, or if the other side gets him Soldiered (or worse, Undead or Sainted) first. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 20:51:28 -0700 (PDT) From: "Ong, Harvey" Subject: Re: IN>Belial, Ofanite Archangel of Fury >Wrath is also used in a divine context.
