Im a long time fan of the game, who has finally decided to subsribe to a mailing list. I had fears of doing this after some fiends of mine joined a vampire one and get 200 messages a day. But I digress, Ive been a fan of the game since i first laid eyes on the covor, and someone said "that games about angels". No for vampire for me sir. Ive run 3 good length campaigns, (the current one has been going for about 7 months), and I must say its the best RPG ive brought. I myself am from New Zealand, in the south pacific. So if anyone of you comes by this way im sure i can get you into a game. I have recently finished 6 years of university, and now have my Masters Degree in International relations. I wish to become a diplomat, so if I end up in the US. Expect me to come over for a game. Game wise, I have a decided preference for the angelic. I also have a bit of an Uriel and tsyadim fixation, but I try not to bring it into my games too much. "Asides from that bit in the fourth trumpet". I also purchased every single damm book. And our exchange rate is not favourable to the US. $1 = 40c US. Superiors 4 cost me about $70, which is roughly an 8 hour day at a fast food joint. Anyway. Ive never subsribed to a list, so I know this may be incorrect protocol. So please dont flame me. Ok, later. The demon makes an Emote roll to achieve the desired effect. The target resists with a Will roll at a penalty equal to the demon's Celestial Forces. Conform may only be used to enforce the norms of a group that both the demon and the target belong to (infiltrating counts as belonging for this purpose). Celestials and Ethereals add their Ethereal Forces to their resistance rolls. Elohim add their Celestial Forces as well. David makes liberal use of this Attunement when reprimanding his Servitors. One of Us The demon must know the Celestial Song of Form in order to benefit from this Attunement. The demon can play the Song at no Essence cost when altering her Vessel to fit in with a group (i.e. switching gender for a night out with the boys or changing ethnicity to visit Chinatown). The effect lasts for up to (CD of the Song roll) hours; the demon can cancel it at any time. Ringer When David needs a group infiltrated he sends one of his Ringers. Each of these demons has a pool of 10 CP with which to purchase a temporary Role with appropriate skills (this can increase existing skills) and Status. Once the assignment is over the Role fades away and the demon forgets any skills that he gained from it. The demon may purchase this Attunement multiple times to increase the size of the CP pool. Well of Wisdom David's Word also includes the ability to assimilate information. A demon with this Attunement learns skills at an accelerated rate. The number of time parts is equal to 7 - the demon's Ethereal Forces. The size of the time parts varies according to how many Celestial Forces the demon has: 1-2 = hours, 3-4 = minutes, 5-6 = seconds. Within that time the demon can learn as many levels of the skill as he has CP to pay for. DISTINCTIONS Knight of Conformity David's Knights can use the Conform Attunement on as many people as are within a radius of (Corporeal Forces x 5) yards. This is cumulative with the Balseraph of Assimilation Attunement. Captain of Combination An Assimilator must first have the Dark Grigori of Assimilation Attunement before gaining this Distinction. Collective Captains can combine items as per David's Skulker Attunement except that they can do it instantly. The Essence cost is 1 + the total number of items in the final meld. Baron of Unity David only has a handful of Barons. They are all Word-bound demons of great personal power and charisma. A Baron of Unity automatically becomes the dominant party in the merger when he plays the Celestial Song of Unity, thus eliminating any penalties from indecisiveness. The Baron clearly remembers everything that transpires during the Song's effect. The Distinction grants the demon free levels of the Song equal to his Celestial Forces if he doesn't already know it. HIGHER DISTINCTIONS The only Higher Distinction that David offers is that of General. Generals have no added powers; the office carries greater responsibility and authority within the Collective. Each General is also granted a unique Rite upon gaining the office. The most important fringe benefit is that no other Assimilator can command the demon or countermand his orders save for David himself. David's five Generals are all Word-bound Songmasters who have earned all three of his lesser Distinctions and multiple Band Attunements. RITES - -- Convince someone to join a group - -- Reveal a traitor - -- Spend an hour speaking in support of a cause RELATIONS David isn't truly hostile to any other Prince; that would be contrary to Hell's solidarity and thus his Word. He does have strong opinions about who serves Hell best, however. He appreciates how Khalid's fanatics would lay down their lives for a cause. David also admires Zadkiel's skill at enmeshing Humans in tight relationships. David realizes the importance of negotiation and exchange and therefore acknowledges Marc's place in the War. He doesn't think much of the self-reliance that Novalis encourages or of Litheroy and his chaotic band of conspiracy busters. The Unifier sees Condemnation as divisive while Dominic resents the fact that David is in charge of monitoring loyalty within the Horde. David reserves his strongest disapproval for Blandine's efforts to isolate Humans within their own minds. Allied: Khalid, Zadkiel (Khalid is Allied to David; Zadkiel considers him an Associate) Associated: Marc Neutral: Everyone else except... Hostile: Dominic, Litheroy, Novalis (Dominic and Litheroy are Hostile to David; Novalis is Neutral) Enemy: Blandine CHANCE OF INVOCATION: 3 It's relatively easy to get David's attention. Wanting it is another matter. Any Servitor who wastes the Unifier's time risks being assimilated into David's personal Forces. INVOCATION MODIFIERS +1: a clearly-defined group of five or more Mortals +2: a living colonial organism (a coral, a beehive, etc.) +3: within earshot of passionate oratory +4: a crowd (or mob) united in common cause +5: a book or document detailing a philosophy that unified a nation +6: a relic of the first army =====

Has anyone done anything as far as the spirits of Voudoun? I figure they would be moderately powerful ethereals, especially as the religion is still practiced.

I was just asking as Baron Samedi in particular has interested me lately.

I've been working on this this evening, and thought I'd share it. C&C always welcome - this is a bit of a first draft, and I'm not sure how to revise it. ^_~ Oh, and... um, cussing at the end. Harukami *** Mirror, Mirror This was my day: Dawn Essence, as usual, a leaf in the wind, but it felt good has always felt good, and I spun up into the air and showed myself over the Groves and they shouted and cheered and we played tag across the length of Heaven, and though I could outrun them all, I'd sometimes let them tag a ring, because they wanted it. Someone needed me on earth and so there I was and they all fell down like houses in a fairy tale - straw, sticks, none of my children's enemies were brick, and after I went and rode the subway with the kids for a while, faces plastered to glass: Child, child, child, archangel, child. They and I could see in the dark, see the bricks whipping past, read the graffiti that was written on the bricks in the hidden dark walls and Seth, a Friend, leaned up and whispered, pointing at something long since past, "I wrote that." And then back up up in a flurry, took on a Vessel of some average looking man and crept through the Bazaar, pockets bulging, walked into Marc's place as if it was mine and, weighed down but not heavy with most things I passed and then made it to his office where he sighed and handed me an inventory form and I grinned and filled it out and he smiled, reluctantly, and held up a bottle of wine. And breezed in late to some meeting or other in the Spires, listened for a while and breezed out again, dashed through the Groves down lower and knocked down a row of Michaelites, so sure of themselves, span off elsewhere into the city and lost myself and came back and lost myself and met someone who didn't recognize the Vessel, and we ended up in some room in some still-staffed Creationer bar, rolling around, and after I went to the mirror and the Vessel was red-faced from exertion, red-faced and he was watching me in the mirror, he was watching me, he never stopped. For a moment, the urge to break, and then I sped off, ducked my head to kiss the girl, and was off, away, away, away, moving. *** This was my day: I sat for a while in my armchair, reclining, wrapped in my favourite dressing gown. Mr. Jones, my butler, was waiting attendance. We had work to do; there was property out there belonging to other people, a situation that needed altering. The chair was starting to look a little threadbare; that was the third one this week needing replacement. Finally I rose and dressed, idly moving the painting to get at my good boots before putting it back where it belonged, out of the eyes of others, and went out to face my people. I sent some to do a run on Tartarus; one could always find interesting things there. I sent some to do a run on the Bordello - a different form of interesting, but still amusing. I sent some to do a run on the Louvre - it was traditional. And then I sat and waited. I had no specific goal in mind for the day and would not waste my talents on the unimportant. I waited. I am patient. I felt myself being Invoked by some of my Servitors. After a moment of debate I showed; the Malakite decorated the walls in a lovely splash of red, as, shortly thereafter, did the Vessels of my Servitors in question. They knew better than to call me over something so petty. The Thieves I'd sent earlier returned with their goods. I examined them - junk, mostly, the occassional jewel in the rough; not too poor for a day with no direction. And then I headed to my elabourate bathroom to change back into my favourite dressing gown and he was watching me in the mirror, and I turned, pressed my hand to it - I could nearly feel him through the glass. I leaned, and the reflection's eyes widened. The question arose: Do I run? Do I stay? I want to run. I want to push through the glass and be there. Move away, move towards. My heart pounded faster and the glass shattered, each seperate piece flying apart under my hand, wisking him away, and he was gone again, he'd sped off again, he'd moved away again and fuck him, fuck him, fuck him. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Nov 2002 22:39:33 -0600 From: "Prodigal" Subject: Re: IN> [fiction] "Mirror Mirror" From: "Harukami" > > C&C always welcome - this is a bit of a first draft, and I'm not sure how > to revise it. ^_~ Nice work. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Nov 2002 00:17:17 -0500 From: "Josh Moger" Subject: Re: IN> [fiction] "Mirror Mirror" .... They are powerful indeed; canon has them as the second most powerful Pantheon after the Hindu gods. I used to have a Loa PC in an IN LARP in Austin. The GM and I agreed that the Loa have a Pantheon Attunement which is basically the Shedite Resonance without the need for corruption. I also have a write-up somewhere of a Pagan Soldier IST Erzulie. =====

Maybe the police will put the pieces together, while investigating the disappearance of young girls. Possibly a curious journalist will stumble over the story while wondering why three aircraft are hired every year, heading out at the same time to Mt Erebus, Nyiragongo & Mauna Loa. Or possibly Heaven will notice. The young Shedite responsible for the scam would prefer it if Heaven didn't notice first; they might work out that he's *not* sacrificing maidens to the volcanoes. It's quite simple, really. All three open mouthed volcanoes are open mouthed, and all are Tethers to Divine Fire. Most humans have heard tales of sacrificing maidens to appease volcanoes; if they 'discover' that the practice is being continued, the public outcry should cripple all three Tethers, and start the process of twisting them towards Demonic Fire. Of course, since each volcano has a powerful Seneschal, actually sacrificing maidens would be instantly stopped. Instead, the Shedite has been recruiting kooky individuals who were in the vicinity of young girls when they disappeared, and once recruited, the kooks take a privately funded flight to one of the three mountains each year. Careful use of his resonance to corrupt the memories of the kooks means that several of them believe that they *have* participated in sacrifices to the volcanoes, and the paperwork for the trips shows that the kooks went on their first trip the year the girl disappeared. Sooner or later, someone is going to 'discover' that a secret cult has been sacrificing maidens, and The Media will have a field day. At that point, the Shedite plans to explain what he has been doing to Belial, and ask for three volunteers to load up their Vessels with water barrels. The kooks will insist at their trials that unless the sacrifices continue, the volcanoes will erupt; on the day the kooks name for the ceremony, the three volunteers will go Celestial, and materialise *under* the volcanoes; instantly boiled, the water & Vessels will explode, triggering all three volcanoes simultaneously. As all three volcanoes are frequently active, the triple eruption could just be coincidence.... By this point, the Shedite will be riding already suicidal girls and pushing them to jump into the volcanoes - "be a heroine, and save the day". He figures that between the Word shift caused, and having to deal with Triads determined to punish the Gabrielites who have been allowing human sacrifice, the Seneschals won't be able to prevent the suicides. If it works, Belial gains three new Tethers; perhaps the volunteers for Vessel explosion would be interested in becoming Seneschals? As for the Shedite, well, the Demon of Sacrifices to Volcanoes has such a nice ring to it. Unless he's stopped, of course. What are the PCs doing? And no, they don't even have the Shedite's name - just a suspicious character or three, who belong to the same organisation and all of whom where near a girl who disappeared in suspicious circumstances... But since the EPG is more about building ethereals in general than the ones of any specific "pantheon," the Marches and the Game Master's Guide (which has a snippet about them in the Divine Religions section, I seem to recall) will be fine for 'em. - --Beth, arcangel@io.com / archangel@sjgames.com In Nomine Line Editor http://www.io.com/~arcangel/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 Nov 2002 14:48:00 -0700 From: sirea@softhome.net Subject: Re: IN> Balseraph of War Attunement > The scenario keeps running through my head, of Michael looking over a peace > treaty, kinda nodding his head a bit, and then saying: > > "Looks alright, but I'd like my legal dept. to go over it before we sign > it." > > And then rolling up the treaty and handing it off to a team of grinning > Balseraphs. *laughs* that's pretty much what I had in mind at some points also ^_^ Well! I'm happy a lot of people contributed to this o.o so far for proposed attunements we have- Serpents of Michael on a sucessful resonance roll are able to make allies appear as the enemy and vice versa to the target. Duration euqual to CD minutes. The canon Seraph choir attunement for War is that their strikes tend to hit home. The INverse of this could be that the strikes of the opponents of Michael's Balseraphs tend *not* to hit. Balseraphs of War/Hubris/Darkness feint *very* well. Use of their resonance in combat allows them to "lie" to their opponents, adding penalties to the opposition's rolls to hit. Balseraphs of War can convince others that their weapons are more powerful than they actually are. For each Essence the Balseraph spends, he may increase the Power of a single weapon which he is touching. This bonus lasts until the end of combat or until the Balseraph lets go of the weapon, and can only be used once per combat on any given weapon. The apparent form of the weapon can also be changed, although only to a form which is appropriate to the skill used with the original weapon: a small stick could be transformed into a dagger or a sap, a piece of rebar into a sword or quarterstaff, and a pistol into a rifle or a Desert Eagle, but the Balseraph cannot change a stick into a gun. Take the existing Seraph of War attunement and run it through the Mirror Dimension. Sure, it's nowhere near as cool or impressive or powerful as an original, but it still gets the job done. Just so you know, I'm on record as liking the original (War/Darkness/Self Song levels) attunement better than any of the proposed replacements -- not that they aren't good, but the original just /clicked/. And lastly my own... Balseraphim: Serpents of War are the ones who spread misinformation throughout the Symphony. The Balseraph may use his resonance to alter written documents to say what he wishes, up to 1000 x the Balseraph's total Forces in words at a time. This altercation will last for the Balseraph's Ethereal Forces in hours. Also, anything that the Balseraph resonates will not be detected as a lie by a Seraphic resonance! Instead, the Seraph will simply get a jarred note from the Symphony, as if his resonance had not worked.
