The reason you can't find a reference for this is because, IIRC, it can't happen. Superiors can remove ("strip") Forces from a Servitor or other celestial, although it's frowned upon for a Superior to Force-strip a celestial who is not a direct Servitor (unless, of course, that celestial belongs to the Other Side). This is inherent in their ability to move and manipulate Forces; see the Game Master's Guide for details. Some Ethereals can perform a similar-but-not-identical function; see the upcoming Ethereal Player's Guide for details. (http://www.sjgames.com/in-nomine/ethereal/ - due out in February.) However, a normal celestial simply can't do what you suggest. Sorry. If it's your campaign, of course, you can play kick-the-canon all you like; goodness knows my GMs do so all the time.* If you want to grant your celestials the ability to strip Forces and increase their own power thereby, here's a suggested mechanic: Force-Stripping: A celestial can remove Forces from another being and add them to his own soul, thereby increasing his power. He cannot do this to any being in a body or vessel, however, or to any being whose Forces outnumber his own. The celestial must roll his Will, at a penalty equal to the victim's current total Forces; the target may resist with his own Will, at a bonus equal to his own total Forces. (This is not a contest; if the target succeeds at his Will roll, the attempt fails.) If the attempt is successful, the celestial draws a single Force from the subject and adds it to his own; the nature of the Force (Corporeal, Ethereal, or Celestial) is determined at random from the available types. A Superior using this ability may be resisted, but the victim gains no bonus to his roll, and his Will is reduced by half. Again, I wish to reiterate that the above paragraph is NOT CANON. - -EDG * Moe runs a canon game. This means, of course, that there is not actually a Mayan temple under New York, the minor Choir that he introduced last session is a mass hallucination on the part of the PCs, and that any rumors that we're really using the IN: Anime rules right now are completely and utterly baseless. Really. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Jan 2003 16:22:45 +1100 From: "james walker" Subject: IN> The Horses of Hell > I *have* sometimes thought > that Saminga might sell souls in horse form to DPs and demons who wanted > mounts. Baal's cavalry comes to mind, as do the four horses of the Four > Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Less useful nowadays than formerly, of course. Don't bet. The scarcity of Celestial artifacts (and the likelyhood of their theft) make soul horses an attractive option - it's a lot easier to put together a brigade of cavalry than a panzer division. > On the other hand, you can't take real horses into Hell or use them on the > Ethereal Plane. Not true. It's difficult to get them to Hell, true, but possible - Valefor has done it. Try CelProjection on the horses at an Infernal tether and then kill them - this is rumoured to work on humans (GIN p166) so might work. And of course, horses sleep, and animals also have dreamscapes; terrorising sleeping animals would be way down Beleth's list of priorities, but if her Servitors decide to train warhorses, she's not likely to object. Besides - suppose you've been ordered to give a nightmare to an ex-demon with Fear(rabbits). Wouldn't it be more fun to enter a rabbits dream and then use Ethereal Projection to insert the real rabbit into her dream? That way it's a nightmare for everybody. So if you've ever had to terrorise a mortal with Fear(horses) you'd pick up a horse Servant fairly quickly. Cheers, James. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Jan 2003 19:34:37 -0800 (PST) From: Maurice Lane Subject: Re: IN> [3 Souls] End of Days - --- Neel Krishnaswami wrote: > > A demonic campaign seed....
