They all began to dig dirt from their gardens to bring up to the top of Ffynnon Garw, to create a mound of earth 20 feet high, giving Ffynnon Garw the extra size it needed to be a Mountain. They also delayed the surveyors the whole time, until they were done, and Ffynnon Garw was classified a Mountain at 1002 feet of height. Sometimes, this makes Jean wonder what an X-ray of Lilith's head would reveal. Or, for preference, her cleaned and dried skull on an examination table, of course... Jean does not concern himself much with Lilith directly. Clearly, he must spend the plurality of his moral energy in countering Vapula, and most of the rest in equipping the Host, guiding human technological progress, and so on. But he spares some time to think about Lilith. "Lightning" is not a perfect translation of his Word, you see; it's more like "forces of nature" - -- force contrasted with matter, including electromagnetic force but not limited to it. And his Word centers on (or he *makes* it center on) the role of those forces in shaping the raw chaos of mass/energy. It's all about control, you see. And that's what Lilith flouts. But about her skull: Modern humans were not very numerous or widespread back in the days of the Eden experiment. It didn't take long after Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden for every human on the planet to carry some of their genes. (In fact, it took a remarkably short time, which Jean takes to indicate meddling by someone ... or Someone.) And ever since then, all human faces have borne more or less resemblance to those two faces -- faces handcrafted by God. It's nothing big, nothing mortal paleontologists could notice at their level of expertise. But Jean can see it; besides, he can just *remember* what pre-Adamite faces looked like; he doesn't have to reconstruct them. Not to mention Adam's face, and Eve's. So every one of us has some resemblance to Father Adam or Mother Eve haunting our faces. But not Auntie Lilith. If you ever saw her face to face -- and in her proper *body*, not in a *vessel* -- you could see it. Well, you could see it if you were Jean, or Jordi, or one of the other few and ancient celestials who take an interest in the fine points of anatomy. Otherwise, you'd just see that Lilith's face is exotically beautiful, which is just what you'd expect. But her face, too, was handcrafted by God. And it's unique. She has no children of her body, only the "daughters" she sings up out of the Forces she cadges. She hates childbirth; she punishes it. But, for some time now, there have been other ways Lilith's genes could enter the world. Surrogate motherhood. Human cloning. And more tricks on the horizon. (No, Jean *won't* tell you what those might be.) What would such a child be? It wouldn't be a Grigori Child or a Nephal, because Lilith is human. A unique human, uniquely made by God, uniquely Worded by Lucifer. The child would be unprecedented. Or children. And it (or they) would certainly be part of an Infernal Plot(tm). Jean does not know of any likely plot. But he realizes the possibility. It doesn't occupy a lot of his time, but he does not forget about it either. People stare at lightning in fear, or awe, or surprise, or delight. Sometimes, the lightning is looking back. Studying their faces. I came up with the idea last night that- although the celestial realms are wonderful and whatnot, they still need maintainence, and, for Hell especially, the ones who own the Pricipalities are not the ones to do the job. Thus, I reasoned a Demon Prince who's Word is Hell, and he is the one who takes care of and maintains the celestial stability of Hell and it's inhabitants. He's totally a flavor Superior, to be used for substance or whatever you like in a game. I may also write up Duma, the Cherub Arachangel of Heaven, depending on how this is treated :D enjoy) Tyra, Djinn Demon Prince of Hell "The world is merely a doorway, a gate into the final realm of the Symphony." Tyra is what is described as a "content Djinn". From his creation by Asmodeus shortly after the Fall, Tyra had been a diligent demon, working hard to please his Superior, uphold the name and function of Hell, and kicking the ass of every demon who dared defile his sacred home. Tyra was never one for political games- he strived and did his greatest work while patrolling the streets of Hell, and he got to know the many Principalities of Hell like the back of his paw. He kept things working as best he could for being one demon, and showed and unnaturally balanced interest in his work, never growing overly apathetic or stupidly obsessed. As such, Asmodeus turned to his loyal creation for assistance when the first few bloody wars broke out where each demon and Prince squabbled over who owned what and why. With amazing diplomatic skills and cold reasoning, Tyra settled numerous disputes for the Princes, and prevented more than one whole-scale slaughter from erupting. The turf wars cooled down eventually, but many, Asmodeus especially, saw that they would soon rise again. As such, someone aside from the Game was needed to overlook and take care of these things, for Asmodeus had resources strained enough to simply take care of the numerous rebels that walked the streets in those first dark years before Hell was freed by Lilith. After consulting with Lucifer, Asmodeus summoned Tyra to the Granite Throne, where Lucifer asked the ever-calm Stalker if he would be interested in the Dark Prince's proposition of becoming the caretaker of Hell's realms, under the condition of constant supervision by the Game, and not being allowed to create any demons that was not authorized by Asmodeus himself, for fear of safety and loyalty. Tyra agreed, and it was the first and only time the demon ever smiled. As such, just in time for the Prime Woman to reopen the gates of Hell, Tyra had become the Demon Prince of Hell, working with Asmodeus to ensure that everything on the home front went smoothly and without major crisis. Tyra manages all the important aspects of the infernal part of the celestial realm, from it's borders to it's buildings to it's numerous inhabitants. He has been given a limited but tight reign over many aspects of each Prince's Pricipality, and Lucifer himself, along with Asmodeus, sanction his every decision, and thus few Princes ever disagree for long with what the Djinn decides. Tyra has few Servitors, as only a limited number of each Band of demon is required for smooth maintainence of each realm. Each demon is painfully loyal (indeed, many of them sport a Geas/6 to never disobey under penalty of soul-death), and Tyra has the smallest amount of Renegades ever, with only one successful Redemption to date. Otherwise, being promoted or requested to transfer into the service of the Prince of Hell is considered a great honor, and a good sign that you should cancel any plans for heading to the corporeal realm anytime soon. Tyra's demons -never- go to the corporeal realm- it makes their skin crawl to be away from their home. Tyra himself spends all day at the enterance to Lucifer's throne room, acting as the guardian to the dreaded Lower Hells. He -never- takes corporeal form (some say it's even dissonant for him to do so) and the only form anyone ever sees him in is that of a collosal black dragon, with blood-red horns and two massive wings in which the very fabric and Forces of the infernal realm is reflected. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 18:39:45 -0500 From: "William J.
