in_nomine-digest Monday, January 20 1997 Volume 01 : Number 004 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 18 Jan 1997 01:24:53 -0500 From: Travis Bryant Subject: Hello and stuff Hello all! Just checking in and speaking out. Pardon the replies to older and multiple posts in one letter - I'm getting the digest version. Derek typed: >For example, I was in a local hobby store this morning, and noticed they >had one of the old Chessex Dragonskins for In Nomine (((snip))) > I mean, I've got one, but I didn't really expect >anyone else in the world to have one, Hey, do I get time taken off my stay in Purgatory for having purchased said Dragonskin at GenCon two years ago? (that's a boast - not a jab) John D. Fleming typed: > What else would you recommend for religious-illiterate Gen-Xers such as >myself? The reference book "A Dictionary of Angels (including the fallen angels)" is excellent for names and spheres of influence. Author is Gustav Davidson. Also, Sandman and Hellblazer comics both feature the forces of angelic, infernal, and magical. Some good ideas within to borrow and very genX - plus real easy to find. Okay, speaking of real quick, I didn't exactly lavish time on the page, I admit it. Later, Derek ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Jan 1997 17:42:44 -0500 From: unseelie@warwick.net (...jason schneiderman...) Subject: Greetings, introductions and all that. Hey, folks. As a new entrant to the IN NOMINE list, I thought I'd doff my hat (letting my hair fall in my face) and wave to the crowd a little. My name's Jason (as the name field will tell you) and I'm the assistant editor of INQUEST magazine (a gaming magazine from the people who put out WIZARD). I first saw InNom at a convention about 3 years ago, in playtest. I'd been waiting for it ever since. I got my pre-press review copy around 12/27 and have been busy poring over the thing since. I'm looking forward to getting an actualy bound-n-in-color version soon. :) A few opening words: * From reading the digests (see? I do my homework) it sounds like most of the people on the list haven't yet seen the book. That so? * To the person who wants to do a Toon version: I'd suppose it'd be a mixture of demons'n'angels done manga style; that way they could call it IN ANIME. And so, I drop back to lurker-mode. I'll be posting some more in the next couple of days, but I just wanted to say "hi." yours, - -J ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Jan 1997 20:19:14 EST From: jdye@juno.com (JOHN C DYE) Subject: Greetings Hello, I am new to the In Nomine list, and I am frohing at the mouth for it to come out, as are the rest of you. While I was able to get a few portions of rules off the net, I did not get the playtest information. If anyone has new info (i.e. soldiers of God, etc) please post it to me and only me! No need to burden the list with info everybody else has. :-) Some have expressed info about Gen X info for angels et al (you know, the other kind) Season of the Mists by Neil Gaiman (Graphic Novel, comic in non PC talk) Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (Book) The Bible (nothing like the original source material! Get a good translation, there is more then King James out there. If it has a concordance in the back, you can find the Angel references easier) Jewish Folklore for some background and a different take on things. The Prophesy (Movie) with Christopher Walken This Present Darkness by Peretti (Angels, Demons and God in a Christian novel. A very interesting read) I always liked the movie Switch, for it's characterizations of God and Satan. If I find anything else, I will add it. Give your own suggestions. jdye@juno.com The GM god ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jan 1997 12:03:11 EST From: jdye@juno.com (JOHN C DYE) Subject: A hush ensued A hush ensued over the In Nomine list, as those who have playtest materials wait before speaking, fearing contridiction in the new edition, while those without fear sounding ignorant. All fervently waiting to see if God is going to strike the printer with lightning, wheather SJG gets raided again by the Religious Reich, or the Atheists 'R Us, or perhaps the distributors decide not to distrubute to your personal store. What new disaster looms... :-) jdye@juno.com The GM god ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #4 *****************************
