Also, aren't Renegades prime targets for Redemption, like >Outcasts >are for Falling? You would trust someone even the Other side could not abide? Remember, Dissonence is lack of comfort with one's nature. First from a Heavenly perspective, then from a self perspective. As an example, a person who does not fit into normal society (no, I'm not defining it, the masses determine the norm) must then find satisfaction in himself. If he finds he hates himself too, then he has BIG problems. Keep him away from clock towers and sharp objects. Hell has pretty low standards. I certainly would not expend a lot of effort turning a Renegade. I might milk him for information... >:-) jdye@juno.com Formerly the GM God, evicted from Beleth's Lands for excessive Internet Use Since becoming John whose Word is Undead Hunter, Malakim of Gabrial in the hopes of getting some Flame proofing ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Mar 1997 01:41:39 -0800 From: Bonnie Beyea Subject: Re: IN> Re: Adventure Seeds > > >I am especially fond of your adventure seeds, I apologize for not > >speaking up about it sooner, and infact good sir, they are one of the > >few reasons that I stay on this divergent list. Can someone repost the other seeds, or send them to me? My GM is quite interested. I did a little digging, although my resources on the matter are depressingly limited, and came up with some names of major demons. If anyone out there knows anything about this stuff, it would be nice if they could provide a little info on these guys, to help develop some more Demon Princes, or at least some powerful Word-Bound demons to make life interesting. The names I came up with are Beelzebub, Lord of the Flies (business partner to Doctor Faustus and possibly the most famous demon among laymen); Mephistopholes (I think he had an opera written about him); Choronzon, the Dweller in the Abyss (Crowley supposedly summoned him once, and almost lost control of him); Memnoch and Astaroth. On the topic of Demon Princes, I kinda miss the idea from the earlier playtest version of the Metatron, the giant demon whose carcass contained all of Hell. It seemed to fit with the medeival depictions of souls being herded into the maw of a dragon-like beast, referred to as Leviathan by some. And then there's the scene from 'The Frighteners', when the Tunnel O' Light (tm) turns into the throat of a monster... Yikes. Well, I suppose if I'm running, I can do what I want. :) |\ /| | | |~~~ |\ | "It's a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we've |_\ /_| | | |__ | \| got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, |\ | | \ | | | | it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses." | \ | | \| |___ | | "Hit it." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Mar 1997 00:35:29 GMT From: Molt Subject: IN> Some questions.. Okay, some more generic questions for 'those in the know', and anyone else :) - - If a Soldier uses a song, does this cause the same sort of 'ripples' in the Symphony as if a Celestial does the song? - - In the description of the Seraphim's description if seems possible for a Seraphim to know what the truth of something is even if the person they're asking has no idea whatsoever! Does this mean a Seraphim and another angel hunting a demon can find him just by the Seraphim saying "Okay, where is he?" and the other one replying he has no idea, but the Seraphim getting a check digit of 6 for the lying check and so being able to say "The Truth is he's staying at 23 Charington Rd, London, but you didn't know this!"? - - What would people reckon a humans number of forces NORMALLY are? It says they're 'five or less'.. does this mean only truly exceptional human would have five forces, normal humans having less? - - Does a character instantly get rites, attunements etc. upon becoming Word-bound? And are these paid for by CPs, or given to the character instantly? - - How do people think a Lilim would cope with two people calling in contradictory Love and liver, Molt.. Still seeking that elusive Word of 'Irritating Eeps'.. p.s. Is there really much point discussing whether we personally believe the Bible? After all, does anyone really think people are going to change their beliefs based on what's written on a role-playing mailing list? I don't think sooo.. let's keep it 'game-orientated'? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Mar 1997 01:05:18 -0500 From: khayman@grfn.org (Botanically Challenged) Subject: Re: IN> Some questions.. here are my answers to the questions: Songs are songs and since they are special powers they will register the same for whether they are used by an angel, demon, or other. For the Seraphim i believe that even though they may know the Truth on a successful role with a check digit of 6, the information doesn't need to be very specific but that is a point of view of the GM. Also the example given would probably fall under creative roleplaying. I would assume that five forces is for a normal human, less for a lesser human, and an above normal human would have more skills to make up for the lower characteristics. Any attunements and songs, not taken at character creation, can only be recieved when given by the Archangel. I would assume this to be true as well for new attunements and songs. New Rites relating to the new word would probably have to be created in cooperation with the Archangel A Lilim would cope with two people calling in contradictory favors as best she can. :) Anthony ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #50 ****************************** The material here is (C) 1996 Steve Jackson Games, Incorporated.
