And if there is an FAQ that answers these, feel free to direct me there. Anyway, I just yesterday completed my first reading of the main rulebook.I liked it, and Most of my questions answered themselves, but I'm a bit confused over Balserath and Djinn resonances: 1) In pure RP terms, how exactly does a Balseraph view himself when he uses his resonance? I don't have the book on hand at this moment, so I can't give exact quotes, but it seemed to indicate that a Balseraph cannot truly "lie" except to himself, by manipulating his own personal vision of reality, and so "lies" to others by enveloping them in a projection of his "view" of things. Does this sound correct? The part about them not being able to truly lie confused me somewhat. 2) On the Djinn - what do they DO with themselves? The "Backrubs" example didn't help me much, since it just said that Djinn don't care about backrubs. But the text also hinted that Djinn DO care, but they just don't like to admit it, or indulge in it. My question - Why would a Djinn choose to attune himself to something in the first place, or more exactly, what motivates a Djinn to use his resonance, since he can't directly attack his "subject" unless he serves the proper Prince? 3) On the whole - it seemed to me that demonic resonances were much less clearly defined than angelic ones. Does anyone else share this feeling? Oops da Ogre, who liked the writeup, but doesn't think the word is really of Archangel status... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Apr 1997 11:19:02 -0600 (CST) From: rogue@ez-net.com (RogueLdr) Subject: IN> Re: in_nomine-digest V1 #104 >if there is no problem (I am trying to summarize, not copy parts of the >text), would anyone else like a copy when I get done? > >matt s. > If it's cool by SJG, please, sign me up for a copy! - -Rogue, He Who Hoards His Rule-Book ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Apr 1997 19:19:24 -0600 From: rbeall@fdldotnet.com (Grim88) Subject: IN> Bright Lilim Attunements Is there an official list anywhere of the the Major Archangels' Attunements granted to Bright Lilim? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Apr 1997 18:51:33 -0500 From: Hatcher Rhanyr Subject: IN> Some More Thoughts Going through the Dictionary of Angels by Davidson I got a few ideas. #1- Romeo and Juliet An Angel and Demon fall in love (how it happened beats the he|| outta me) I was thinking a Mercurian and maybe a Lilim... #2- The Arelim "Valiant Ones" These are Soldiers of Heaven that were following a Servitor of Michael. Because of their devouted service (i.e. stubborn refusal to stop fighting) they were returned back to the Corporeal Realm to continue the good fight. #3- Mammon "Demon of Greed" Haven't thought too much about him but I'll work on him #4- Ezra "The Eternal Scribe" Talking about the Wandering Jew got me thinking about this biblical character....I began thinking about this scribe who has been living for a very long time recording mankind's history. #5- Anauel "Angel of Bankers" This is definitely a devout servant of Marc. Cherubim I would think. Once again I'll work on him later. #6- Servants of Jordi Heres a few Word Bounds from the Dictionary... Manakel - Aquatic Animals Behemiel- Tame Beasts Thegri - Wild Beasts Well that's about it...give me some input if you care to. Scrimshaw" > >Subject: IN> summaries > >I have started to type up brief summaries of each choir's resonance & its >mechanics and started to work on the songs. I tentatively plan to have >one sheet for each Song, one for each superior (summary of servitor >attunements, choir attunements, rel. to other Arches, etc.), and the >one-page choir resonance sheet. Maybe I'm having problems comprehending, but why does a summary of a song take up a whole sheet? More than likely, you'll have the entire description of the song on a sheet, no? This will impact the following questions. >Would SJ Games have a problem with me doing this and giving a sheet to the >players? I want to do this so I can staple my pregens to a sheet that >shows their Choir resonance, one for each of their Songs, and one for >their superior. This would make it easier for them (they'd know what they >can do) and easier for me (having a summary booklet and not needing to >loan the players my book whenever they want to use an ability). You may keep a master compilation for yourself. Under no circumstance may you give a copy of that compilation to another person, regardless of medium. You can give your compilation to someone if you hand over your original book, too, and not keep any copies for yourself. You may give your players copies of only those sheets of songs, attunements, etc... which pertain to their character only. That would be about 7 out of the total 200 (approximately) sheets, no? That's OK, because you're not giving out a complete compilation to any one person -- they're only getting selected excerpts. You may create *true summaries* of the powers in the IN NOMINE book and pass 'em around. A summary does not have the complete text of the ability. For example: Kyriotate of Jean: Possess a (non-living) object. Kyriotate of David: Possess a stone. etc... The above is OK to do. A full description can only be kept for yourself and *never* distributed. Web-publishing is distribution and may warrant legal action. >if there is no problem (I am trying to summarize, not copy parts of the >text), would anyone else like a copy when I get done? Again, only true summaries are OK. Full paraphrases (IOW, it might as well be the full text) are not OK. Another example of a good summary list is Elizabeth McCoy's list of all those powers which might enable one to detect a celestial in human guise which was posted to this list recently and probably has made it to someone's web page by now. Her list did not detail what all the powers did, but it provided a handy guide to the powers available which can ferret out celestials. Strack" Subject: IN> Celestial Population I apologize if I'm opening an old can of worms here, but how many angels and demons are there? This has a pretty major impact on the game, and I'm really not sure what the answer should be. I would assume that there are more angels in Heaven than there are on Earth, and its the number on Earth that I'm interested in. The most striking effect would be how likely it is someone will spot Celestial "noise" from disturbing the Symphony. Celestial population should be big enough to result in interesting role-playing, but small enough to allow for suspension of disbelief (and to avoid the Whitewolf "everybody is a suprenatural being" syndrome). So what are people's opinions?
