Probably not spoilers but I'll leave space anyway... There doesn't seem to be any angels where Chris (Robin Williams' character) ends up, just deceased mortal souls. This seems to indicate that he's in the Higher Heavens where angels don't go. Also, Albert (Cuba Goodings' character) appears to be a saint. He comes back to Earth to help those who have died (and maybe do other jobs. They did mention that he also works with "lost" souls). The Tracker also seems to be a Saint, who goes and does things outside of Heaven (like Hell). While the Hell in the movie doesn't seem like anything from In Nomine, it does give me an idea on another reason why saints are considered a valuable resource in the War. They can sneak into Hell and not be noticed, while an Angel would set off a huge disturbance. If a Superior desperately needed information on what was going on in Hell, having a saint or two sneak in to spy might be the only way he could get it. The saints would be able to pose as damned souls, and songs and attunements might give them the suprise edge in coping with the dangers of Hell and escaping intact. Lets see YOU convert Spawn. While, I'm not David, I wouldn't mind taking a crack at it. I'm not incredibly well versed in the comic and series, but have watched it, and have seen the movie. I think I can capture him fairly well... A note: Al Simmons made a deal with the devil upon his death. The devil is a bad person to make a deal with. Humans cannot become demons, but the human's forces CAN be torn apart and bound back together into a demonic form; this is what happened to Al. His personality survived from his sheer will to exist, but his mind has been twisted and scarred as badly as his body...he hates being a demon, but can no longer be human. Another note: This is rough, all off the top of my head, with no book, from memory. Forgive me. :) Spawn, Calabite of Baal COR 6 (Str 12, Ag 12) ETH 4 (Int 6, Pre 11) CEL 4 (Will 10, Per 7) Vessel: Human Male/6 Attunements: Calabite of Baal, Habbalah of Baal, Djinn of Baal, Balseraph of Baal, Calabite of Belial, Art of Combat Skills: All combat skills/6, Any skill a soldier should know/4, Almost any other skill/1 or /2. He *is* WELL trained. Songs: Form (Cor/6, Eth/4), Healing (Cor/6), Motion (Cor/4, Cel/5), NC: Cloak (as Wings)/6, NC: Chains (as Tail, see below)/6, and a few others from Liber Canticorum that I wish I could mention. :) Artifacts: Spawn Armor (see below) Discords: Angry/4, Berserk/2, Murderous/4, Bound/6, Ugly/3 Spawn Armor: Spawn's armor features several chains in addition to its protective abilities. The most interesting thing about the chains is that they function as an extension of Spawn's natural resonance. As long as he wears the armor, his resonance can ONLY manifest as chains whipping out of the armor to attack people - this means that a victim can elect to Dodge the attack instead of making a Strength roll to resist; on the upshot, the range of his resonance is doubled. In addition, Spawn can use the NC:Tail on his chains to gain extra attacks and an extra manipulator, instead of physically growing a tail. The armor has other features, of course. (1) Natural protection of 4. (2) Fully concealable (has the Summonable feature at no essence cost). (3) A built in Reliquary/6. (4) Spawn can cast the Song of Healing on the armor itself, even if unhurt - the suit then stores these potential hits healed until Spawn is hurt, at which time it releases just enough of the Song back into Spawn to heal him, automatically. This can be repeated once the armor has used up all the 'hits healed'. (NOTE: This is the only way I can think of to cover his 'automatic regeneration'...he heals almost instantly from any damage, without effort.) Whew. I'd like to think that this version is not munchkinish...just incredibly, incredibly tough and dangerous. Spawn IS, of course. He was supposed to be the LEADER of hell's army for armegeddon...this guy should wipe the floor with any PC, easily. For the record, his chains/resonance will do the check digit plus 24 in damage, per hit. Very dangerous, and he always has his NCs and Corp Form active. Did I miss anything? - -- Rev. Ethereal Discord: Dual Personality The sufferer is stained with a discord which makes it very difficult for him to cope with his essential celestial nature when in a corporeal vessel. To cope with this, he has subconsciously created a 'cover' personality (which believes that it truly is its role) to deal with the day to day difficulties of mortal life. The false personality will be in control for a number of hours per day equal to the level of the discord (if not more); in addition, when the celestial is under stress related to his true nature, he must make a will roll or else revert to the mortal personality for a number of hours given by the CD. The mortal personality suppresses its knowledge of celestial matters, and will not be able to spend essence or use songs, unless some bright companion pretends to have recruited it as a soldier and 'teaches' it how to do so. It will be able to detect disturbances and use resonances normally, but will attempt to make up a plausible mundane explanation for these phenomena, even if this means the celestial admits himself to a mental institution to be cured of the voices and noises in his head, or touts itself as a psychic. It also instinctively avoids dissonant actions. If the celestial has more than one vessel, each vessel has its own 'mortal personality' but they never overlap (he will genuinely believe that he is different people, so any knowledge carried over from one vessel to the next must simply be a sign of a strange mystical connection or mental bond). Those last statistics are approached, but I must remind you that the uniform of Spawn needs him as much as he needs it, a demon (very weak, but with a resistance out of the common, and possible an Ethereal song of Tongues). I already placed Spawn in my adventures of In Nomine with success, as well as some villains of the DC comics, that are opposing of Batman. And I intend to place Batman later on. I base on some adventures of Batman to do my campaign, and given to the Dark Knight eternal conflict, it is even easy to place a campaign of demons and angels. Well, the players love the adventures up to now, and wait until I begin to use others adventures like the one I used with the villan Ra's Al Ghul. (Who reads histories in Batman's comics will remember Ra's Al Ghul, that, translated from the Arabic is, demon's Head) : -) Well, here it is my humble opinion. Well, if you check the archives of this list, somewhere around the beginning of last year, you'll find some notes I made about translating the Batman characters into IN. They're just rough - no stats or game notes, since I generally feel that it's best that individual GMs tailor power levels to fit their own campaigns (I would have done Spawn far weaker than either version shown so far, for instance). As I recall (hey, it's been over a year!) I figured Ra's Al Ghul (one of my favourite Bat-villains) as a child of the Grigori, rather than a pure celestial. Gives him more of a connection to mortals while making him even less comprehensible to both humans and celestials. Recently I've had vague thoughts about posting some notes on an IN-JLA conversion, but nothing solid. Maybe I'll do those some day. - -- Patrick O'Duffy, Brisbane, Australia Las Vegas is a society of armed masturbators / gambling is the kick here / sex is extra / weird trip for high rollers... house-whores for winners, hand jobs for the bad luck crowd.
