Remember an Outcast is near falling, perhaps, but not fallen. So a faction of Outcasts would still be angels, just on the outs with the powers of Heaven (and probably riddled with dissonance and discord). Without going to Outcasts, you could factionalize Heaven by organizing the Archangels into parties and having minority parties and coalitions, etc. In fact, Derek was going to do something like that, in the early design phases of the game; I ran across the drafts somewhere in the SJG Web pages, long ago. There were angelic "parties" of Fortitude, Justice, etc. Building on the current setup, you could have a "Nature" party, consisting of the Archangels who are concerned with natural powers -- Fire, Wind, Stone, Animals, Flowers. Note that, on the moral plane, all of them are pretty indifferent to formal organization and law. They could be a minority Nature party in opposition to the Law party headed by Dominic, Laurence, and other more starchy Archangels. Or you could have the Law party be the minority. Another division could be the Grace party, once more opposed to a Law or Jusice party, but this time led by Blandine, Novalis, Christopher, Zadkiel, and the other more laid-back Archangels. If you want Armageddon looming on the horizon, there could be a War party headed by Michael, Laurence, David, and Gabriel. If you like Outcasts, you can just increase the political tension until the minority party has left en masse, or been exiled, so that there is an Outcast bloc. (Remember blocs with no K?) Hell, of course, should be even more factionalized. One split could be the World (Mammon, Malphas, Baal, Vapula) versus the Flesh (Andrealphus, Haagenti). Or Annihilation (Saminga, Belial) versus Corruption (Andrealphus, Mammon, etc.). Lloyd" Subject: IN> Nouveau PBeM Nouveau PBeM: The New Hello all. I am looking for a few good players. I thought that this might be the right place to look, since the genre IS In Nomine. Unlike most of my games, I hope that this one will be more or less serious. Of course, since the GM (me) is me, things may become either somewhat lighthearted or sardonic. The criteria for joining? Well... here's my gameplan. Expected turn around time will be a post EVERY OTHER DAY per participant. Errr... or as close as we can come. So, maybe every other two days... we'll see. The Roles (so to speak) are limited. We need one soldier. The soldier is a child who has an ability with computers, a penchant for surfing the web, and at least miminal social skills (for MY sanity). We also need one Angel. The Angel has been assigned to watch over and educate... well... I'll brief you if you decide to join up. Ofanim and Malakim aren't preferable. I'd like to see a Seraph, Cherub or Elohite. I'll consider other choirs, certainly. The Angel will be a vassal of either: Destiny -or- Flowers NO Servitors of Eli serving either Destiny or Flowers. (see below for details) This is NOT a campaign about making people bleed, death, destruction and combat. This is NOT a Hackmaster(tm) game. This IS a campaign about introspection, discussing the nature of Good, Evil, God, Lucifer, Falling from Grace, and Redemption. Well, we might see a *little* action, just to keep ourselves in shape and to remind ourselves that there's a war out there... I need TWO players who can keep up a regular posting schedule so that if anyone falls behind, it'll be me. For the most part, I hope that the majority of interaction will be between the players and I'll only need to be called in to resolve actions, represent the local NPCs, and stir in a little plot. Heh, heh, heh... For the most part, I'm looking for active story writers. Not plot wise, just in terms of writing good dialogue with minor NPCs as well as writing excellent descriptions of action and conversation. I'm hoping you'll post *actively* rather than reactively. The Cast: Charybdis Greydragon as * A Fledgling Seraph of Creation Serving Revelation. Her "mother" is an Mercurian on active duty on earth. Her "father" was a seraph who has since fallen and is now working for the Devil. In the vessel of a 12 year old, she is searching for pre-teens who might just be soldier material. Roles OPEN: * One Mundane Child around age twelve or thirteen. (Possessing four forces, one corporeal, two ethereal and one celestial and an corresponding number of points for skills. No artifacts, songs, etc...) Must have a more than healthy interest in computers and/or technological gadgets. Essentially, this will be the child selected to become a soldier. Presumably... * One Angel of Yves/Novalis, Eleven Forces, Vassal of Destiny/Flowers with Seraph of Destiny/Flowers, Malakh of Destiny/Flowers and Divine Destiny / Crown of Flowers Attunements. Patience and understanding a must. Artifacts optional, normal rules for spending points apply. Power-hungry player characters will be flung into the Pit to "entertain" the Habbalah. It is the duty of this Angel to lead, guide, and teach the Fledgling Angel. **** IMPORTANT **** I ask that all those who apply for charactership include (along with their character's stats) a short in-character monologue. I will use the monologue not only to judge writing ability and style, but also as a symbol of dedication to my game, AS well as a useful tool for getting a feel for the character. Also, I ask that you include your own personal reaction to your character, how much you like this character, how much room you feel your character has to grow. What does your character do? For the mundane pre-teen, does s/he believe in Angels? Demons? God? Hell? How would s/he react to being recruited for Heaven? for Hell? What do his/her parents do to earn a living? Is this kid from a single-parent home? What has kept this kid out of gangs? What kind of movies does this child like? Favorite flavor of ice cream? What things does the kid NOT like and/or respect about society? How do they have access to computers? Were they a hacker during their prime years (ages 7 to 9) and if so, have they stopped? Why or why not? For the Angel, how long has he existed? Is Yves/Novalis his original superior? Does he serve Yves/Novalis directly, or a Word under Destiny/Flowers? How does he understand the relationship between Heaven and Hell? God and Lucifer? How sympathetic would he be to trying to redeem a recently fallen angel? Which superiors does he agree with? Disagree with? Does he condone consorting with the Enemy? Why or why not? What good works has this angel been doing for Destiny/Flowers up until he is called up for this change in venue? Is he upset by this change? If so, why? If not, why? Oh, one last note. The setting is Vancouver, British Columbia. :) - -Perry Perry M. For anyone considering including the Fay in their game as PC's, NPC's, or even strong background, I can not recommend enough going out and finding a copy of the Castle Falkenstein supplement, _The Memoirs of Auberon of Faerie_. This book may not be a hundred percent faithful to the real legends, but as a sourcebook for gaming the Fay, I have never seen anything halfway as good. The flavor that they manage to give the Faerie works well with In Nomine, and doesn't make them into Angels without attunements, which is a hole I see looming in front of us as we try to describe everything _other_ than Celestials.
