James Bond strides into an office that is clearly M's: the swivel chair at the window spins to reveal Michael, who is sitting there with his battleaxe across his knees. Michael : "I have a mission for you, 007." Narrator : It could end in the jaws of Hell. Belial, against a vast shadowy background, in a bruiser vessel, with arcs of fire dancing about him. Narrator : Internal affairs. Jean, standing in the middle of a room filled with computer screens, watches them scroll faster and faster with different predictions of disaster, then go blank. Lightning flickers around him. Gabriel, brooding on the edge of her volcano in a female form and a fetching black leather jacket and trousers, stares into the lava, and murmurs, "We are betrayed..." A Malakite staggers away from a spreading cloud of gas, in the Groves, and collapses to one knee, still clutching his sword: he coughs, spitting blood onto the ground, as the gas spreads behind him. Narrator : So they called for the best. Bond, impeccably dressed, at the door of a brilliantly-lit club. He says to the winged-lion Cherubim who crouch by the entrance, "The name is Bond. James Bond." A buzzing Casino, filled with blessed souls and angels. Bond is standing by the baccarat table, as Marc steps into view. Marc : "Perhaps I should be the dealer for this game, Mr Bond." Bond : "I wouldn't want to cramp your style." A vivid explosion takes out one of the Council Spires, filmed close up. Narrator : It's an enemy he's never had to face before. An elegant Lilim in a business suit is standing on a deserted stage, the footlights catching her in a flat remorseless light. Lilim, to someone sitting in the auditorium : "It was a Deal." The crack of a pistol rings out, and she falls, face surprised for a moment, a red stain spreading across the breast of her suit. Bond embraces Gabriel, and she folds her arms round him, the two of them silhouetted by the burning magma of the volcano. Dominic and Michael face each other, both in Seraphic form, in the Council. Dominic : "He goes too far." Michael : "Are you afraid of what he may find out, brother?" Narrator : Allies he never suspected. Jean offers Bond something small with exotic flashing lights. They're in a concrete-walled building. Bond : "Warehouse 23?" Jean : "It is my objective opinion that we are running out of options." Lilith lounges against the stone arches of a bridge, and chews her lower lip. Bond stands in the opposite arch, hands in the pockets of his dinner jacket. Lilith : "I have the information you need, James." Bond : "The truth your Daughter died for?" Lilith : "She was a fool." Laurence, wings obsidian and gleaming in the dawn light, paces down a marble hall. Bond walks beside him. Laurence : "I cannot order you to do this." Narrator : And secrets that Heaven doesn't want to know. Belial snarls, picks up Bond by the front of his jacket, and throws him across the room. "Too late!" Gabriel screams, throwing her head back, and begins to shift into a figure of pure fire: around her, the wood of Yves' Library crackles and smokes in the rising heat, and little flames catch at the shelves and books. Bond stands in a well-kept study, gun drawn, as a pale-winged Marc steps out of the shadows. Bond : "You're selling *what*?" Marc : "It's the ultimate business deal." Bond : "And what do you propose to do with the other Archangels?" Marc, shrugging : ""Everything must go?"" Narrator : He's the last line of defence between Heaven and Hell. Belial drags a screaming Novalis through long book-lined corridors that change from the soothing light of Yves' Library to the shadows of Kronos' Archives. A gunshot rings off a metal fitting above their heads. Lilith smiles at Bond, and turns a flickering globe of light between her fingers. "Do you know how easy it would be to crush this?" Bond abseils down one of the Council Spires, by starlight, and edges to peer into a window. Laurence looks out over the walls of Heaven, Michael beside him. They both have fresh blood on their drawn weapons. Belial laughs, the sound insane, and raises a flamethrower. Narrator : God help him - because nobody else will. Marc and Bond by the card-table, in the Casino. Bond reaches across to turn a hand of four Aces and a Joker. Marc, smiling : "All Aces, Mr Bond." Bond : "Aces count high." Marc : "Low, I'm afraid. House rule." Bond's mouth curls : "I'm changing the rules." Screen goes black. The sound of a gunshot. I usually do a little of both, but I lean more toward the soundtrack method. It's a little work, but not too bad, especially if you just take music you are familiar with as a pool to draw from. What's nice about a tight gaming group is you can sometimes play off of inside jokes, etc. I've never done this with In Nomine, mind you, but I ran one (short) VtM chronicle and a few Feng Shui games that way, and it seemed to work out well. I like the ambiance it created, and I tend to look at it as a mood enhancer. Also, more times than I care to admit to, I'll be listening to a new CD or something and think "Wow, this would be a great song to have a scene about," and I'll write a scene that fits the music. Scoff if you will, but it has lead to great plot threads that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. :) What _can_ be annoying about the soundtrack method is keeping the game (or the action) flowing while you get the music ready. I used to pre-record tapes with music in the order I was going to use it, but Unexpected Player Behavior screws that approach once in a while. I think I need one of those monster CD changers of doom or something. - Stavro ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Apr 1998 17:09:56 -0500 (EST) From: Sheep Boy Subject: Re: IN> Movie Trailer Robert Knop [rknop@crl.com] wrote: > Now, everybody, be honest: in your mind, did you see Connery, Moore, > Brosnan, or Other as Bond while reading that? Nothing wrong with that; "Living Daylights" was one of my favorite bond flicks. (Gotta love the cello case chase scene.) Myself, I saw Connery. (Odd, because I grew up with Moore in the theatres, but there you have it.) What was funny was that while Bond, in my mental image reading the piece, looked like one of his "normal" incarnations, all the other characters looked quite different. That would place the Fall IYC at about 65 million years ago would it not? Something along these lines: In the book that I am currently reading; "The Bible Code", by Michael Drosnin, he suggests that the impact of the meteor and the destruction of the dinosaurs was a metaphor for God's slaying of Rahab - the primordial dragon (often equated with Leviathan). >(Of course, Eden wasn't really a place; it was more like a state of being. >Before the Apple, humanity was pure and innocent; it was in Eden. I personally like the idea that Eden was something like an ancient 'Area 51'. It existed somewhere on Earth (Middle East - possibly Kurdistan due to something I read once) and was inaccessible to the remainder of primitive humans and animal life that co-existed at the time. Until Adam's fall that is. (And then I haven't thought too much about what became of it.) There could well be a mythologized Eden in the Marches IMC, and it would be similar to (idyllic), yet not quite the same as, the original. - -- Julian ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Apr 1998 01:42:37 +0100 From: Julian Breen Subject: Re: IN> Re: Fall, dinosaurs, and Eden. >nice image to think about.
