Where >did that milk/dirty container reference come from? I'm afraid I can't shed any more light on the quote's origin (other than, as Walter said, it's probably from some comedy-Western), but I can try to clarify the intent, if you like: The "dirty glass" bit is the desperate effort of someone who's so moral and strait-laced as to order MILK in a bar to make it sound tough and disreputable (and thus, himself not so much of a square). As for whether that fits Lawrence, I dunno. Crusaders drank as much as anyone else... - -------------- Kelly St.Clair kellys@efn.org ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 May 1999 00:53:05 +0300 From: "Tick Tock" Subject: Re: IN> Superior Drinks - -----Original Message----- From: Walter Milliken >At 0:43 -0400 5/2/99, Sean McCarthy wrote: >>I simply must know! Where did that milk/dirty container reference come from?<<< It's from an old comedy-western, starring (I think, but could be wrong) Bob Hope. There's a scene where he walks into a rough bar filled with tough outlaw-types who are guzzling scotch, bourbon, whiskey, etc. In a timid voice, he orders milk -- and the whole bar falls silent and everyone turns and stares at him. So he adds, in a growl "But serve it in a dirty glass!" - -David ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 May 1999 22:20:11 -0500 (CDT) From: paranial@creighton.edu Subject: IN> A Demon We All Know Please Excuse but the Following was inevitable: B'Harni: Imputite Baron of the Media Forces: 11 Coporeal Forces:2 Stength:6 Agility:2 Ethereal Forces:3 Intelligence:9 Percision:3 Celestial Forces:6 Will:12 Preception:12 Vessel: (Purple Dinosaur/3) Charisma (Sickeningly Cute +3 with toddlers -3 for everyone else) Role/6 (You Should know who) Status/6 Body Hits:30+18 Mind Hits:27 Soul Hits:72 Skills: Artistry(Singing)/2, Emote/6 Songs: Charm (Ethereal/4, Celestial/4), Harmony(Ethereal/3) Dreams(All/4) Attunmenmts: Imputite of the Media, Balseraph of the Media, Lilim of the Media, Sublimnial, Baron of the Fourth Estate Comments Welcome Bradley Paranial (Well, it was only a matter of time) ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #1215 ******************************** The material here is (C) 1999 Steve Jackson Games, Incorporated.
