Well, Earth's old ecosystem is still intact, or at least as intact as it could be after Armageddon. And Vapula would see the world as a "fixer-upper." And with this lovely inspiration I'm thinking I might want to look through my GURPS War Against the Chtorr for Vaps new eco-project. So, how many Forces does a shedite need to possess a giant, fuzzy worm? He has divorced himself from > the war after all. But the question is why did he do this? If he thought he could do more for the War by living among the humans and inspiring them then the End of the War would mean his Work was done. If he is just reveling in his Word by immersing himself in Creation then there is a chance he might stay around. The world is just such a cool place, and he did help build it after all. But then again, he probably would go. After all, the War is over and Earth is done. Time to leave and make new things. I've been thinking about the possibility of the Archangels what would motivate one to stay or go from the World. Naturally, I don't want a lot of them around because otherwise it would be to similar to before the War, but two or maybe even three wouldn't hurt. Especially with Heaven locked up. Here's what I came up with for the Archangels. Some were easy to peg, but others are iffier. If anyone out there has a good alternate take on an Archangel I would like to hear it. Bladine: One of the iffier ones. I had her leave because the War's over, all the dreamers that need protecting are going to the Upper Heavens, and the Ethereals can take care of the ones who don't deserve Beleth's attentions. Incidently, when I write up what the remaining angels are up to I'm thinking of having Bladine's tower the place they bounce to when they try to ascend to their Hearts. David: Definitely one of the one's who would leave. One of the militent, he worked to strengthen Humanity to weather the War. Now that the War is over his job is done. The damned who remain are not worth his attention, and those who choose to stay must endure with strength alone. Dominic: He is certainly going to leave. God won, Lucifer Lost. All the angels who go to the Upper Heavens are no longer in danger of Falling. Now that the War is over, those angels that remain are none of his concern. If they remain true to themselves, good. If they Fall, well then, there already where God wants the Fallen to be. He can finally unwind and take a well deserved break. I picture a mellow, relaxed Seraph in the Upper Heavens. Eli: I covered him above. He's one of the tricky ones, but I'm leaning towards him leaving now that the Symphony is in Lucifer's hands. Gabriel: Could really go either way. If she survied she would probably wants another shot at Belial, who's still around. On the other hand, she is directly plugged into God's Mind through her Word, so if it is his will that the War ends this way she'd probably accept it. Janus: Too much is unclear of the Janus/Valefor connection for me to make a guess. I have Valefor missing, presumed dead just to preserve the ambiguity, and am toying with the possibility of turning them both into the Elvis of the "And the Bands Played On", with Janus and Valefor sightings being reported among some of the angels, ethereals, and demons. Jean: The War is over. The World has been ceded to the Infernals, therefore the introduction of Infernal Technology is no longer a concern. Objectively then, the best decision is to leave. Jordi: A strong case can be made for him staying. Even though the souls of animals all go to Heaven, Jordi might want to stick around to look after their welfare on Earth. On the other hand, he might acknowledge the law of the jungle and let the animals fend for themselves, knowing they all go where they need to in the end. If he stayed, he would definitely want to deal with Vapula trying to "improve" the environment. Laurnece: Too easy. He leaves. When God says it's time to go, it's time to go. As commander of Heaven's Armies, remaining would go directly against God, implying that the War still exists when he ended it. He'd order all of his servitors to leave to, meaning any who stay would most likely be Outcasts. Marc: Don't have a good take on him. He's one of the more ignored Superiors. Would probably go, knowing when it's time to count one's profits and cut one's losses. "We've saved all the souls we can. Remaining would not be economically viable." Michael: As the Archangel of War, if he didn't leave the War wouldn't be over. Having killed Baal and particpated in Lucifer's defeat, he'd leave seeing his duty done. Novalis: A strong contender for staying. She is very compassionate and might stay so that those who remained would recieve some relief. Then again, the world that remains would be a very violent place, especially when compared with the peace of the Upper Heavens. It might be better for her to go and leave the war and killing behind. Yves: Everyone who's left has rejected their Destiny, even if they have not yet met their Fate. There's nothing more he can do for them. Is there? He probably leaves, but you can never figure Yves out. Litheroy: The Truth has been revealed. No reason to stay. Christopher: The innocent children are Heaven now. His job is done. Zadkiel: An iffy one again. Might stay to see that the remaining good are protected, but I don't believe that would be a compelling enough reason for her to abandon Heaven. Probably goes. Khalid: Probably leaves. The Faithful have met their reward. All that remain are the Doubters and the Damned. Well, out of 17 Superiors, only three have a strong reason to stay. Gabriel, Jordi, and Novalis. And Gabriel may or may not have died. So, if I have any Superiors remaining Jordi and Novalis are on the top of my list. By the way, I'm curious about the non-cannon Superiors. Any of you creators want to pipe in on whether they'd or go and why? And whether your Demon Princes would have survived Armageddon and what would they be doing now? Ben, Elohite of Eli Angel of Neat Ideas ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jun 1999 23:34:01 EDT From: SdshowTim@aol.com Subject: IN> God's Fate/Destiny Recently I was re-reading heaven and hell, which implies strongly that Yves is a manifestation of God's Destiny and Kronos is a manifestation of God's Fate. By looking at them, and what IN cannon says about the nature of God as the Symphony what the War is about takes on a strange feel. If God has a Destiny (being Yves, who cares about everyone) and a Fate (being Kronos, who cares about no one but serves Lucifer) then the War is not exactly over humanity but over God. But its seems that humanity is very linked to God, as Yves/Kronos both seem to be human in their celestial form and they both are after souls for heaven/hell more than anyother superior (its an inherint part of their Words). This would imply that if there is a victory by swaying humanity then God is also affected, profoundly. If Lucifer manages to win the God that the angels know will be destroyed, or more likely weakened to a point where he might as well be destroyed. The Symphony would then have no sentience, no driving force, it would just be a bunch of stuff that happens and who ever screams the loudest gets what they want. And after all this time I bet Lucifer can scream pretty loud. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jun 1999 10:54:19 +0200 From: Alex van Niel Subject: IN> Fighting IN Nomine Hi ...
