Breif History: In the year 2061 the UN celebrated the launch of the Unity the first intersteller straship to colonize the Alpha Centauri star system. Un fourtunatly the ship was damaged near the end f the 40 year jurney, and a large part of the crew was prematurly awakend to repair the ship. They succeded, barely. Before the landing the colonist began squabling and by the time it came for the ship to crash the senior officers had split the crew into seven distict factions each vieing for control of Planet's resources. (for a more detailed history check out www.alphacentauri.com look under story.) The Factions (dosen't this whole senerio make Malphaus happy?): The University of Planet - the Scientists - led by Dr. Prokhor Zakharov Unity Science Officer - they persue an agenda of technological advancement occasionally lacking in ethics - favored Faction of Jean and Valpaua The Gaia's Stepdaughters - the Greens - led by Deirdre Skye, Unity Xenobiologist - they persue an agenda of an enviormentaly friendly democracy - the only faction Jordi tollerates The Human Hive - the Despots - led by Sheng-Ji Yang, Unity Executive Officer - persuing an agenda of an Atheist Police State - Well liked by Asmodeous and David (for diffrent reasons) Morgan Industries - the Moguls - led by CEO Nwabudike Morgan, Nambian Diamond Tycoon - persues a free market, pro-industry agenda - Marc and Lilith would love these guys (they know the power of *free* *trade*) The Spartan Federation - the Survivalists -led by Col. Corazon Santiago, Unity Security Chief - persues a survivalist agenda - Michael and Baal would understand this group The Lord's Belivers - the Fundamentalists - led by Sister Miriam Godwinson, Unity Psych Chaplain - persuing the agenda "Life of Religious Worship" - Laurance. Dominic as well. The Peacekeeping Forces - the Humanitarian - led by Commissioner Pravin Lal Unity Ship's Surgeon - pesuing an agenda of humanitarian idals and democracy - This group would be favoured by Novalis The rest of the superiors would be present in all the factions to an extent. (Janus would absolutly abor the Hive) Of Earth: No word ever reaches Alpha Cenauri of Earht's fate so the GM can have fun with this i like the idea of an Armageddon with either Etheral Victory or Total Annilation. Planet: Planet is alive and hostile. Mind worms bring a devistating psionc asault on the human bases while the Isle's of the Deep patrol the seas and Locut Swarms soar in the air. And on top of that Plant is also self aware. The entiraty of the native life form a single nural net aware of it's new friends. If Marcutions are the Friends of Man then Kryos are the Friends of Planet. And naturally Jordi is not happy to have messy humans trampling over her special project. What do you guys think? Comments? The student gives all the standard answers...and they are all wrong. The lead character then realizes he is under the tutorage of no ordinary teacher and must apply himself in a quest for knowledge. WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE IMMORTAL My God man, you are one heaven sent story teller.... I just finished the Book. Whew... BT Just wanted to drop you a short note to tell you that I just got THE IMMORTAL and could not put it down. It is a fantastic book. I feel almost a sense of loss having finished it... CC I have finished reading Book 2, and I am totally amazed by the claims you make; I am fully aware that such high levels of information could never be invented or brought up by the human brain for a fictional story. WL I've recently finished reading The Immortal - Thank You! I've already told dozens and dozens of people, "If you read only one book this year, consider having it be The Immortal." And everyone that I've spoken with has had as enthusiastic response as Diane This is the best esoteric novel - by someone still living - I've come across so far. I've been working for a long while on a crossover DS9-InNominee story called the "War of Destinies", mainly centered on the conflict between the Hosts and the Prophets (a rather special Choir) over one Benjamin Sisko. The Angels of Destiny first got notice of Sisko in the 21st century when a human under special watch one William Bell met an untimely death before he could fulfill his destiny. The Cherub who had been watching over Bell was the first to notice that instead of the normal Nemesis attunement that would form in such case, he had reattuned to Sisko and realised that Sisko was Bell's reincarnation, drawn to fulfill Bell's aborted Destiny. The other surprise was that Sisko, a human was disturbing the Symphony on the scale quite larger than the average celestial. The celestials in the area became involved largely in neutralising each other while Sisko completed his part in the Bell Riots and returned to his time. In the Beginning, God chose to give human (and celestial)kind the gift of free will, or at least the convincing illusion of same. He did this by closing himself off from His memories of the future. Those memories were given in trust to a special Choir whom in normal circumstances are banned from the corporeal plane and by necessity have sealed themselves in a realm secret to the Hells and the Lower Heaven. They set up one Tether in a solar system of especially enlightened and pious corporeals, the Bajorans. Since that time, the Prophets have walked a careful tightrope between the protection of their Tether and the non-interference ban imposed on the Choir. (For reasons that should be apparant, assigning game statistics to this Choir, and their Fallen counterparts is a meaningless activity.) Among the memories kept from the other celestials, including Yvves and Kronos are those that pertain to the existence of this isolated group. - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | _ | | We are dreamers, shapers, singers and makers. /_\ | | We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, // \\ | | Crystal and scanner, holographic demons, \\ //___\\ | | And invocations of equations. \\ // \\ | | \\__// \\ | | These are the tools we employ.
