Is this right? What happens if you punch someone? >Does it do celestial damage? What if you hose down a ring of fire guy with >a celestial fire extinguisher? IMC, Celestials on the Celestial Plane can manifest themselves as both their Choir form and a pseudo-overlay effect of their vessels (or a human form). remember that on the Celestial Plane Earthly physics to not exist. you don't see anything, you _perceive_ it through your awareness. Celestial forms don't reflect photons, don't obey gravity, or any other physical law unless a Superior of the domain will it. this whole form thing occurred to me before, especially for things like training in the Grove. so, in the end, it's a matter of freeing your mind from physics thought and winging it as you go. as for attacks, any attack on the Celestial Plane is a Celestial attack whether it manifests as physical combat or a psychic blast or what-ever, although I feel that manifestations mimicking physical combat are more common. > >I could be wrong but, one of the dangers of the marches is getting lost. >But, it say's you can just return to heaven then from there return to your >vessel on earth (Corporeal realm). Am I reading that right? the problem is getting lost _within_ the Marches, especially the Far Marches because the Plane itself is rather fluid. > >If you're on earth you can just make a will roll and beam yourself to >heaven. make a Will roll (and spend essence) to assume Celestial Form, then make another Will roll (and spend essence) to Ascend. > >So in effect it is impossible to capture, or strand PC's in any situation, >in the marches or earth (when they can make will rolls to leave). Because >they would just switch realms. Am I getting this right? somewhat. in the Marches you can be trapped within a Dreamscape. and in the Corporeal Plane I make players roll for both assuming Celestial Form and for Ascending in a stressful situation (such as combat). they may not make the first roll and have to wait for the next round to try again, or they fail the second roll and are still Celestial on the Corporeal Plane, causing disturbance and are open to Celestial Attacks. also, when you come back to the Corporeal Plane, you'll manifest in the same spot unless you go down a Tether. and don't forget that when you go to the Marches you vessel remains where it is, you just fall asleep. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Sep 1999 10:37:47 -0700 From: "Jace" Subject: IN> form questions You guys did an awesome job explaining that to me, thank you. 8) Jace ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Sep 1999 13:54:22 -0400 (EDT) From: "R. Sean Borgstrom" Subject: IN> Ofanite Celestial Fire "Actually this is why the sacred theologians frequently describe the transcendent and shapeless Being as fiery. As an image derived from the things that are visible it does reflect, if one may say so, many of the characteristics of the Deity. Visible fire, after all, is, so to speak, in everything. It passes undiluted through everything and yet continues to be completely beyond them. It lights up everything and remains hidden at the same time. In itself it is undetectable and becomes evident only through its own workings on matter. It is unstoppable. It cannot be looked upon. Yet it is master of everything. Wherever it is, it changes things toward its own activity." "It is exalted and never brought low. It is ever on the move, moving itself and others. It extends in all directions and is hemmed in nowhere. It needs no one. It grows unseen and it manifests its greatness wherever it is received. It is dynamic, powerful, invisibly present in everything." -- Dionysius the Areopagite, on fire, from "The Celestial Hierarchy" In this respect, and based on other quotes I don't have on hand, I suspect that the fire of the Ofanim is not something a fire extinguisher, or water, or anything of the like could put out; it is the manifestation as energy of the presence of the sacred. ** R. You can refuse them along with the rites. But still, you'd think that Freedom would be the free-est Word of all. Creation is actually the free-est Word. I have been reading it on a play selection committee for my school and it is interesting from an in nomine viewpoint. It is about angels rebelling against an old and senile god and the effect that has on a modern new york city. I reccomend checking it out, I may well write it up with an In Nomine perspective, tell me if you are interested.
