I would no more allow a Balseraph to self-resonate itself into violence for this than for the various Songs of Harmony, or into believing that because it's not _really_ a demon (e.g., Balakites) it can withstand the Light of Heaven, or that the Master of the Armies of God didn't _really_ say "NO" and end the conversation, or that the Servitor of Lust didn't _really_ hit the Bal with Dark Desire for picklejars. Stick with snipers and Calabim (at range) to take care of those pesky Seraphim of Novalis. Or deathtraps. If they don't see the tripwire and get the anvil on their heads, hey, that's cool. I haven't had too many IN characters, just two: a Seraph of Flowers and a Balseraph Captain of Theft. I'd say my cleverst use of an attunement came from the Balseraph of Theft. She has a role as a police officer and uses it to convince young gangsters and robbers that stealing is O.K. She uses her attunement to convince them that the possessions they steal are theirs by right of being smart enough to take them, and she does the same with the crooked cops she's got buying and selling the stolen property after its' confiscated. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Clarity of Purpose Beezelbub was a Demon prince who believed whole heartedly in the cause of Lucifer and was his chief disciple and speaker in the Cathedral of Light before the Fall. It was only right that Beezelbub be given the Princedom of the ultimate statement of Lucifer's lie upon reality, Corruption. Beezelbub however knew that the maddening emptiness of Hell was lacking the drug like qualities of Heaven and that all too many wished to return to the light of the Father...this could not be and he trusted not Asmodeus for to destroy every one who had doubts would merely deplete their ranks. A select few of his servitors and the servitors of others he thus gave the clarity of Purpose. This attunement once bestowed gives all demons a reknewed vigor and connection to the war where they cannot escape the confines of their own selfish symphony which lovingly beats down them and all the singers of the Symphony of the Father about it. The screaching power of dissonance was never true threat as nothing could intrude on the powerful strength bestowed by beezlebub....in truth as long as Beezlebub ruled his Principality not a single one of his followers ever redeemed. Only after his death did a few survivors discover to have their clarity removed and thus be allowed back into the grace of God...and even they were never as perfect an angel as they could be... Cursed with memories of it. System: Clarity of Purpose is basically a method for Beezlebub to keep demons from racking up enough dissonance to become a redemption canidate by creating a poor substitute for the Malakim incorruptibility. Malakim by their very nature are imprinted with singing loyalty to God and Clarity of Purpose cannot unfortunately replicate this...however it can "maneuver" thoughts of selflessness and the effects of it's symphony to another place without leaving permanent effects on their Symphony. In other words...no demon can get more than three dissonance with this attunement no matter how hard he tries and Beezlebub has done his best to foster the belief that they are indeed incorruptible. It also leads to certain lacks of doubt as demons are able to perform selfless actions for their infiltration...even if the selfless acts are to their Prince. The Discord Engine Lvl ??? artifact In truth Beezelbub had a method beyond merely immediately removing discord in all his servitors in a massive waste of energy. Beezelbub as a Seraph of Light was gifted with great abilities of innovation an insight into the inner workings of God's creation and not far into his time in Hell he crafted the Discord Engine with a very special purpose in mind. Irony. During the War in Heaven a young Olfanim was blessed by God with a new word which had not existed until Lucifer made the necessity for it....Redemption. Attempting to try and approach his former Archangel with hope of returning to the grace of God Lucifer nearly destroyed him before Beezlebub intervened and suggested a more...unpleasant punishment. The Discord Engine thus works by suspending the trapped Olfanim inside the device and allowing dissonant chords of selflessness to travel directly to the Angel of Redemption who lies suspended in the hideous torture device. Unpleasant business. Whenever the Angel gets too strong the Discord Engine inflicts him with hideous Discord (hence the name) which hopefully will someday corrupt or destroy the being....or at least keep from growing too strong with the good thoughts of so many of his servitors. Yes unpleasant business indeed. The Engine lies in the Lower Hells and only Kobal (whose word benifits from the discord engine) knows indeed about it as he routinly goes to taunt the still faithful being in his prison despite Beezlebub and his sucessor having long since fallen to dust. - -Charlemagne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Dec 2000 14:21:07 -0800 (PST) From: Michael Walton Subject: Re: IN> Applied Psychology - --- Janet Anderson wrote: > I am under the impression that Savoir-Faire lets people know how to > behave > in social situations, e.g. what fork to use, what to call the > Ambassador's wife, what to wear and when. Savior-faire also includes the rules of etiquette -- that's personal interaction. Now, use of the high-falutin' French term implies familiarity with the manners of high society, but an appropriate etiquette skill is just as useful when dealing with gang-bangers or Yakuza kobuns. If you know the rules by which a given group of people operates, you have a better chance of getting a positive reaction from them. ===== Michael Walton, #9805-068 "...faith is only pure when it does not negate the faith of another." -- Eli Weisel __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
