However, should a Superior really have the ability to use the resonance of a minor choir or band that is wholly under another Superior's control? I'm leaning against it myself, mostly on the principle that a Superior that has virtually no contact with the choir and cannot create it, should not be able to use that choir's resonance. Also on this principle, I wouldn't let any Superior other than Lilith use the lilim resonance. They can't create one, so why should they be able to use it? I'd continue this by not allowing Yves' distinction (don't remember the name of it right now, but it's the one that allows an angel to use another choir's resonance) or Kronos' balseraph attunement to grant the bright lilim resonance. After all, if it could, there would be no Lilith monopoly on lilim in Hell. Kronos could just make "bal-lilim" instead. Any thoughts on this? As the resident expert on Fate's favorate sons*, I'd suggest you both hunt around the Digests for what happened when _I_ asked this question (I think it's called 'Stupid Balseraph tricks', but I -could- be wrong). Officially, the answer is FNORD**. };;;> Unofficialy, you can do whatever you want in your own campaign. Myself, if I ever _did_ let it happen, the poor Balseraphs that tried it would probably go even more insane than their Bal-Seraphim bretheren. In otherwords, it hasn't happened -- isn't likely -to- happen -- and if it has happened the resulting mess quickly exploded shortly afterwards. Only Lilith can make Lilim (including Brights). As for the Grigori? No Angelic Superiors have fallen since the creation of the Grigori, so Hell simply does not possess the knowledge. Archangels don't create them, because they either a) have learned their lesson and aren't about to defy God (Dominic/Yves), or b) can't create them because only God can create them -- and did so in the first place (and this explains why Demon Princes _can't_ create them). How's that, Beth? John? Beauler? Beauler? (* Said with all the snideness that is a Balseraph's hallmark. };;;>) (** Okay, that isn't the exact answer I got, but is likely to be the answer _now_. I really need Attunements for an Archangel of Zeal, and so far I >haven't come >up with anything that isn't a modified copy of something else. Help! Alright, howz about some of these. Seraphim Lead by example, they can inspire all those they are genuinely leading to go the distance and put their heart and soul into it. Cherubim Take a more one-on-one approach. They are the personal trainers of Heaven. Anyone they are Attuned to can shrug off the effects of being tired or physically exhausted. With a Will roll plus Cherubs Celestial forces can resist any attempt to be made to stop what they are doing. Ofanim Are the most Zealous beings in Creation, following the lead of their Archangel. Their Resonance is such a part of their nature that it may be used automatically with a Check equal to their Corporeal Forces. This can only be used at base Resonance level. Advanced uses must still be rolled for. Elohim The stoic Elohim are far to stable to exhibit Zeal in the manner of thier fellow Angels. They can therefore speak to any group of emotionally charged beings and be understood and comprehended on all levels. No one thing will be misunderstood when the Angel speaks despite the fervour of the crowd. Malakim Of course they scourge evil with great Zeal, once they have identified the evil they MUST act. Their drive and determination means that nothing will deter them from achiving their goal. They become immune to all Resonances/Attunements that would disuade them from purging the evil. This means things like Balseraph and Habbalah Resonance or things like Now THAT'S a punch line! Songs are resisted at a bonus equal to the Malakite's Celestial Forces. Kyriotates Instil the lust for life in their human hosts. Any human who is experiencing a negative emotion forgets that emotion and is infused with great positivity and optimisim. This negates the Habbalah resonance and automatically forces a Shedite out of a host without a Contest. Mercurians Are the crowd surfers who make sure that Zeal is kept on a level that promotes growth and action rather than violence and intollerance. When Resonanting a person or group the Mercurian will pick up if that person has any bias or prejudice that will be amplified by experiencing Zeal in both Angelic or Mortal terms. They can work to remove these people from areas of tension. In cases such as a KKK meeting where the members are very zealous but for a misguided cause the Mercurian will not generate Dissonance if protecting a subject from the misguided behaviour leads to a fight. Servitor Attunements Zeal The Angel can make a subject (including himself) pumped up and ready to go. This means that the person is physically and mentally acute. It temporarily boosts all Skill rolls by the amount of Essence put into the Attunement. This Attunements lasts for (Essence Spent) Hours. Warm Down After every good blowout or day of hardcore (heh) involvement you need to come down from the high and just chill. This Attunement amplifies the benefits of the warm down. It Heals damage to the body equal to the Total Forces of the subject, it stops hyperventalation and averts Asthma attacks, it purges Endorphin levels from the body but still keeps the chemical effect and with one glass of water completely rehydrates and balances electrolyte levels.... in one minute! After this time the person feels fantastic and is ready to rock and roll again. This Attunement may only be used once per day per person and costs Essence equal to the number of people affected. What do you think? Distinctions are always a bitch so I will think about that, as will the other members of the list I am sure. Help :] Ok, I've been playing In Nomine for almost 3 months now (I'm an old timer, eh? :)), and now I'm going to be trying my hand at GMing the game. I currently am running with a smallish group of two players. I was "inspired" for a strange campaign idea by a TV show on USA called "the War Next Door". if you haven't seen the show or commercials for it, imagine a Live Action Spy Vs. Spy. The game concept became thus: Small town (1200 people or so) that is, for whatever reason, free of Celestial Influence, heavenly or infernal. Both the angels and demons take an interest in this town, as rumors of the "other side" getting involved reach the superiors, so they decide to send in agents, the PC's. The town is basically a barely modern small town, with a very 1950's TV Land town feel to it, so the various superiors (In this case, because of the PC's, Yves and Kobal, working with Kronos) decide to send in a single agent covertly to push the people inthe town toward their destinies or fates. The PC's I have are a Mecurian of Yves and a Balseraph of Kobal (unknowningly working for Kronos). And yes, they live next door to eachh other, and are under strict orders to NOT blow their cover, though I've already decided their superiors are willing to replace vessels as necessary, in case the PC's decide to kill each other off. This is a "light" game, with a bit of humor (though it's not a total silly game), and I've already introduced one minor bit of conflict in the form of Loki, who has a small group of local high school students (a whole 4 of them) "worshipping" him. It's fairly harmless, and Loki is powerful enough to hold his own against two starting level Celestials, even if they team up. I've already run into a few snags though, as I'm just not sure where to go with the game. It's a neat premise, but unfortunately that's all I have so far, a premise. So I figured I'd see if anyone on the list could give me a hand with this, in the form of a few ideas. At this point, I just don't really know the game well enough to "wing" stuff, and I just don't have a fleshed out game in my head yet (Though the players love the concept as well). Well, it wouldn't be too hard to transplant a lot of the characters and even the situation from the Austin setting in "Night Music" into your game. Though the adventure is hit-or-miss as far as whether people like it, and there's been some criticism (including from me) over whether Austin really makes sense as a published city setting, the characters ARE very interesting and fun to interact with, and with just a few changes they could easily be relocated elsewhere. - -David ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Aug 2000 10:55:21 -0400 From: "Galen G. What you really need to do is flesh out the people in the town. In Nomine works *really* well for a soap opera type campaign, and the Merc of Destiny attunement just *begs* to be used on random individuals in the character's life. Remember the Dark Humor dissonance condition, too - That balseraph needs to be doing a joke or prank *every* *single* *day*, or turn into a puddle of discord. Also, consider the roles that your players have chosen, and think about how that would work into the lives of the community. There are other tricks, but I'd need to know more about the players.
