Servitors of Lust use it as a preliminary towards indulging themselves with a Rite: Pranksters just like to slip a few of them into a Mardi Gras celebration and wait for the fights to start. A recent variant of this artifact instead gives a -1 per two levels to resist the Habbalite resonance, provided that the Punisher is attempting to invoke Fury. A few of these are perfect for starting your stereotypical drunken riot... Jesus is something of an oddity in Heaven, but to tell you the Truth, he doesn't mind. For one thing, he was born on Earth, unlike the other Archangels. Whether he started out as a normal 6-Force Human, or was always something more, is a mystery neither he, nor Gabriel, nor Yves seems to want to talk about, much to Litheroy's dismay. If anyone asks, he's "The Son of Man", and so far no Seraph's even been able to resonnate more out of that statement then "He's the Son of Man", which many of them find simply frustrating. Jesus lived his whole life on Earth, which is pretty much as told in the Gospels, in spite of the slightly divergent retellings (Biographers...). What tends to get ommited are the 30 or so years between his birth (watched over by Gabriel, who both lead the Wisemen and the Shepards to his crip, and kept the demons away), is that he spent his young years learning both about the world and about the Symphony. His first encounter with a Celestial was with Yves when he was ten, and it mostly consisted of the two of them seeing each other and smiling, as if exchanging a private joke. During his teen years, Jesus followed both in the footsteps of his mortal father Joseph, learning the trade of the wood-worker, as well as taking rabbanic classes amongst the Rabbis of Nazareth, who were impressed with the lad's mastery of religion and ethics. Later on, he began work as a Rabbi in his community, but felt himself called to a greater path, which he soon took, taking along his wife, Mary the Magdalena with him (Demonic spin-doctors later condemned her as being a prostitute, but in those days, Rabbis like Jesus weren't taken seriously unless married, and the Magdalena is the only woman mentionned constantly as a part of Jesus' crowd.) When Jesus started his career as a Prophet, Beelzebub's forces were hard at work in the Middle-East. His agents had already long infiltrated the Roman Empire, and were slowly corrupting the priests in the Temple of Jerusalem, allowing the Servitors of Greed to make their places in the Temple courts. By the time he assembled his first entourage and did his first miracles (The clever use of songs), he was more then mentally prepared to confront the Demons and force them out of his people's Temple. He began preaching in the outer territories of Israel, gathering converts by preaching the values of Heaven and Good, of renouncing the physical pleasures of the Earth for the spiritual rewards of Heaven, of promoting virtues like charity and mercy over greed and wrath. He came to the attention of St John the Baptist, a Soldier of God in service to Purity, and in the process came to Uriel's attention. The Archangel of Purity saw this Prophet, who seemed more then a mere Man, and immediatly came to the conclusion that Jesus WAS God incarnated, and immediatly went to the Son of Man to be converted to Christianity, along with many of his Angels (Except for Khalid, who nonetheless considered him a Prophet of God) It was also at this time that Beelzebub came to the new prophet, and attempted to temp him into serving Hell. Not only did Beelzebub fail to corrupt Jesus, but he nearly got Dissonance from the failure, as it spurred Jesus further onward to purging Corruption from the Earth. Jesus, gaining more followers with every step, soon made his way to Jerusalem, where he intended to confront Mammon's servitors. Once in the Temple of Jerusalem, Jesus lost his usual calm and toppled the money-lender's tables in his now famous scene. This got Mammon's attention, and he turned to Beelzebub, demanding action. Beelzebub and Mammon got together and focused on Judas, who was already showing doubts about following Jesus, and bribed him into betraying Jesus, leading to his arrest by Baal and Asmodeus' corrupt agents in the Judean legal system. Jesus, by that time, had become so in tune with the Symphony that he had learned of his Destiny. Though afraid of what was to come, like any mortal man, he gritted his teeth and allowed himself to be arrested and put on trial, after telling his own people not to interfere. And so Jesus, Son of Joseph and Mary, was arrested, tried by the Pharisens, sentanced by the Romans for sedition, and nailed to the cross, where he died. Beelzebub and Mammon were happy, Yves was saddened, Gabriel and Uriel were furious, and that would've been the end of the matter. Except Jesus came back to life three days later, which was a surprise to everyone. Some witnesses even thought they saw Yves blink, but then it could've been just a squint, since he didn't have glasses back then. Even worst, to Beelzebub's eyes: Jesus had come back AS AN ARCHANGEL! Jesus, after recruiting his Disciples as his first Soldiers, later on ascended to Heaven as it's first Human-bord Archangel. But after joining Heaven, Jesus felt the Superior/Servitor system didn't really fit his view of how best to serve God. He didn't tell the others to stop their ways, since the system had worked fine for them for ages, but he nonetheless decided not to take any actual Servitors in his direct service. Over the years, Jesus Christ has worked like an Errant Superior, travelling all over the world to serve the glory of God, the Father, wherever he goes. It is rumored he was the one who went to Uriel and convinced him to stop the Purity Crusade. It is also rumored that he was the one who convinced Eli to leave Heaven and wander the Earth, looking for that elusive something he seeks there. There are rumors that he has found the missing Grigori, and their children, and recruited them as his Servitors somehow. There are even rumors that Jesus and Lillith have met, and while not good friends, both have debated with one another, having shared experiences, but diverging opinions. All in all, there are a lot of rumors about Jesus, but whenever confronted about them, he and Yves just smile inneffably. Nowadays, Jesus still doesn't have any Servitors of his own, but there's an unspoken arrangment between him and the other Superiors: Whenever any angel meets Jesus, they're expected to drop everything and listen to what he has to say, and do whatever he asks you to do. These tasks generally involve nudging often minor details, promoting the ways of Heaven in the process. These may range from asking a Servitor of War to escort an old lady across the street, or to ask a Servitor of Trade to channel millions of dollars in varied funds into saving an old, but very symbolic church. He seldom interferes with the politics of Heaven, preferring to focus on his work in the Corporeal and Ethereal realms, but when he does make his opinion known, it carries a lot of weight. Dissonance: When in service to Jesus, it's dissonant for Angels to do anything which harms the cause of promoting God's ways on Earth, such as harming places of worship, harming a mortal's faith, or repressing someone's rights to pray. Note: Jesus, dispite being the founder of Christianity, favors no one religion over another, but rather judges Mortals based on how closely they follow the precepts of their Faith. A christian who rejects the Christian values of Mercy and Charity rates lower in his eyes then a faithful Buddhist who lives his life following the values of his faith. Attunements and Distinctions: Having no permanent servitors, nor being a regular part of Heaven's hierarchy, Jesus grants neither attunements nor distinctions to those Angels in his temporary service. But he's been known to speak highly of those angels who serve Heaven well to their superiors, which often leads to them getting Attunements and Distinctions. Relations: Allied: Jesus considers all the Archangels his allies, while the only thing that all the Archangels agree with is that Jesus is their Ally. There are some special cases, however: Jesus has spoken with Dominic, and while the later won't agree to stop the Investigations on Eli's activities, he's not pressing Jesus for the Mercurian's whereabouts. Laurence originally had a few problems wrapping his Malakite mind around being a Christian (a faith about peace) and being a soldier, but Jesus conforted him with the knowledge that Chivalry, at it's highest, greatly promotes the ideals of Chivalry. Khalid is actually good friends with Jesus, dispite the fact the Elohite doesn't consider him the actual Son of God, but merely a Human who achieved Great Unity with God. Since Jesus himself will neither confirm nor deny it, his faith in Islam hasn't wavered. In Hell, opinions differ about Jesus, from Aleamon, Vapula and Kronos, who want to know his secrets, to Kobal and Nybbas, who want to corrupt his image, right down to Belial and Haagenti, who couldn't care less, unless the Son of Man actually interferes in their affairs. None of the living Demon Princes have actually met him, however, since there's a noted superstition about Jesus in Hell: Demons who meet him will either be destroyed or redeemed. Beelzebub died soon after he arranged for Jesus' crucifixtion, and it is said that Legion himself ran off in fear when he met this Prince of Peace. Lillith is the only Princess to have met Jesus and live, and she's not talking about it, though whenever the subject gets brought up, she gets a forlorn look in her eyes, almost as if she regretted something... If you stopped the average American on the street and asked them whether or not they worshipped the current President of the United States, you'd get everything from a raspberry to a punch in the face. The idea that an American would worship that idiot (name changes like clockwork, but the designation stays the same) is laughable. In this day and age, Americans are all too aware of the flaws of their chief executive. They don’t believe in them any more. However... they do believe in the President. Not the guy currently in there, of course (even if they voted for him): it's more like they believe in the office of the President, or the idea of the President. When something goes right with the country, it's thanks to the President's statesmanship: when something goes wrong, it's obviously the fault of that idiot in the White House. And, of course, the President knows everything that's going on; he's got the CIA and the FBI and all those other agencies to tell him stuff, and _they've_ obviously got fingers in every pie. There's all that power there, which is scary, but then no holder of the office can stay there for more than eight years, which means that the power is controllable. You can trust the Presidency, even if you can't trust the moron currently holding the office. All of this is really a small part of any citizen's potential belief structure, but it exists in more people than you might think. And there's a _lot_ of American citizens. Mr. President started haunting (his word) the White House some time after it was constructed. He vaguely remembers James Madison - he thinks - but it wasn't until Andrew Jackson's administration that he really started to coalesce. He hasn't left the House since. He hasn't felt the need to. Mr. President usually does not manifest himself. The ethereal much prefers to let the perceptive spot him: it gives him an idea of who's actually on the ball in any given administration. There's always one or two people on the White House staff who know who he is, and they've collectively created and kept up vague ghost stories to explain away any odd occurrences that crop up. The only person guaranteed to know of Mr. President's existence is the head of the President's personal Secret Service detail: they are always carefully briefed by their predecessor about the existence of the ethereal. Note that the corporeal President of the United States may not actually know of Mr. President's existence: the last one that did was Harry S Truman, in point of fact. The ethereal hasn't always been impressed with some of the people who have sat in the Oval Office, and doesn't even want to think about the last two decades. He still protects them, when he can; there's more than one reason why no President has ever been assassinated in the White House. Mr. President also has an encyclopedic knowledge of the laws and policies of the USA, and is more than willing to provide that information to anyone who knows of his existence. Uncle Sam likes to stop by and mine him for information (and a beer or two) from time to time: Mr. President appreciates his visits. The two ethereals understand each other quite well, actually. Personally, Mr. President is very dignified. His corporeal form seems to be very chaotic: so many people have so many different views of the ideal chief of state that he never has the same precise face twice. He usually manifests as an older male, statesmanlike but with a certain homespun charm. He likes to hear himself talk, but he's a very good speaker, so most listeners don't mind. He also has a pretty good sense of humor, and knows every piece of gossip about every corporeal President who's ever lived in the White House (he saw most of it, after all). His position in the War is unusual. His natural tendencies are towards Heaven's side, but they won’t work with him overtly. Mr. President has thus proclaimed the White House neutral ground: no supernatural activities are permitted there without his express permission. Normally, both sides would simply laugh nastily and continue on, but... well, both Heaven and Hell know the risks of meddling. It's not so much taking the power, but keeping it: if one side were to gain the upper hand, the other would see no reason not to retaliate. The horrible example of the French Revolution's Committee of Public Safety is still fresh in everyone's mind: _nobody_ came out ahead from that confrontation. All in all, the idea of a mere ethereal - one that doesn't even pretend to be a god - dictating terms to both sides, while ludicrous, merely reinforces the idea that the area should be handled with kid gloves. Besides, there's always the action in the Capitol building: Mr. President could care less about the legislative branch. Naturally, both sides still keep observers in place, which Mr. President 'reluctantly' permits (not that he can stop them, unless he wants to start a firefight in the Cabinet Room). Of course, no sane Archangel or Prince would assign anyone to this duty who wasn't smart, subtle and politically astute, so there aren't too many problems. Adventure seed Daneil Robertson is the 666th descendant of the most powerful demon summoner that Hell has ever known and the man in question was so evil, so mysterious, so badly lit that few even dare mention his name in the realms. Daniel however is pretty much just an average teenager with some weird parental history. Daniel lives even in *gasp* the suberbs. Well unbeknownst to Daniel until recently he has the potential for sorcery as well and written inside one of his many times removed grandfather's tome is a call for Lucifer himself only supposed to be used for the darkest most obscene rites. Lucifer as one might imagine remembered Daniel's ancestor quite fondly and several of his unpleasant so-evil-they're-in-the-lower-hells ancestors with a similar half-grin. Daniel as expected eventually came across his ancestor's book of all evil that has thankfully remained untranslated by kept by his family as a bad-luck charm in his attic for the past couple of years the ancient evil archaic formulae incomprehensible to all but the most brillant and horrendeous Medival alchemists or your average present day lap top with a free decrypt download program from a conspiracy website. So Daniel on a lark decides to summon Satan.... Lucifer smiles at the ill omened marked boy and decides to step forward and try and help out the young man before bringing forthe through him perhaps some other era of untold apcolypse and horror to make the last Robertson ancestor to summon Lucifer's form's evil look like a walk in the park. Daniel being not a terribly experienced occultist and not really interested in dealing with the Devil also made a few prayer markings around it too... and God decided to intervene on a roll of the great trinity of dice the universe is built on. Lucifer effictively in the transition from Hell to the Earth got stuck somehow and unfortunately the Prince of Darkness in his summoning can't really do Jack about it because he is tied to Daniel's house as long as he refuses to remove the marks which keep him tied....worse all of Lucifer's power is localized in the now AWESOMELY powerful tether to Hell so he can't call for all the demons of Hell to help him.... Not that many of them would... In the meantime Lucifer is mooching off Daniel who is the only one who can banish him back to hell and whom torturing or using his resonance on has for whatever reason proven ineffective (the possibility of the dice which seem to rule this universe hitting an exceptionally large number of 111 is inevitable statistically) and in the meantime Hell is beggining to notice that the Big L's presence is not exactly noticible. Heaven's also got the feeling something is up because of the Symphony's subtle change in tone as well....plus Hell franky is really proving subtly...incompetant lately...or TOO competant for those who believe Lucifer's been holding the guys back for so many years. Daniel himself is not exactly happy having the Prince of Darkness in his house either as he REALLY wants to keep his soul, keep his friends, and frankly not have his bedroom keep opening up to something out of the Hellraiser flicks. It's not like he's not tempted by promises of having Elle Macpherson, Cindy Crawford, Elizabeth Hurley and Sarah Michelle Gellar (he's got odd tastes okay) as his love slaves along with being the next Bill Gates but the whole eternal damnation thing is a real turn off. Frankly Lucifer is getting desperate enough to prepare offering the man a princeship and Beleth (his twisted revenge on Daniel) and Lilith (ditto) as well. For even Celestials who find out...the situation bears note. * Do you want Lucifer in Hell where he can be watched or on Earth where he might somehow prove more dangerous... * Do you want Lucifer imprisoned where demons can't recieve words and interventions...because he's less dangerous and theres a bigger power vacuum in Hell? * Is Daniel being unjustly punished and what effect is the 1 story house with garage 666 force tether to Darkness going to have on the surounding mortals? He can do anything and is pretty damn good at it. Consider all Skills at level/5. Wacae never learnt to fight or shoot a gun so he doesn't have access to these combat skills. Songs: All versions at 3 of Healing, Light, Solace, Harmony and Form. He also knew Banishing(cel/2) and Concealment(cel/2). Attunements: All Grigori Attunements, All Servitor Attunements of Song(is this from GURPS:IN?), The Angel of Guidance, Choir Angel, Synchronicity, Focus. Angel of Guidance: Wacae can automatically use his Resonance (of which I don't know BTW) and he selects the CD he wants. This will override all blocks that Celestials can errect except that of a Superior. Since Wacae is as far removed from the Divine as you get, he has no special power over a Superiors misdirections. Choir Angel: He is connected as a Cherub to all Grigori within the Symphony. With a Perception roll he can locate and analyse any Grigori. If a Grigori is about to violate *the laws of Heaven* then Wacae will know about it. It was this that tore Wacae apart in the end. Focus: Wacae had the ability to attune any mortal to their dream/passion/fire in the belly. This was not unlike Gabriel's Friend of the Divine Spark distinction. Wacae can cause that idea to become the thing that a mortal will persue. Of course this can't *force* anyone to keep obsessing over it, that would be unlike the Grigori. He did however, set things up so that the mortal would have an easier time achieving his goals without sacrificing too much of the hardship. Distinctions: Choir Angel Discord: None Dissonance: None History: Wacae was the last of them. He was created on the outskirts of Heaven just before you get to what is Gabriel's Volcano today. Wacae walking into Heaven saw what had passed during the Fall. He was deeply saddened by what had transpired over Humanity. He quickly met with the other Choir Angels and descended to Earth. His guiding nature was a welcome one, but he constantly felt the conflict in his nature. The other Grigori were becoming *too* human and he felt that it was his job to straighten them out and remind them what their purpose was. This was not met well. Wacae tried and tried to council them the right way but to no avail. When the trail came Wacae didn't even bother to go. He knew what had happened when the first pang of his Choir Angel attunement hit him. Then the second, and the third. Wacae took Celestial form.. for the first time since he left Heaven and disbanded into the Symphony. The Grigori as a Choir felt his passing.... and couldn't care less. Wacae is never, ever, ever spoken about in Heaven. In those cases where their Word would be strengthened by the success of one side or another, or required them to support one side or another, the Superiors supported that side. In those cases where their Word was either unaffected by the success of either side, or where it would be strengthened whichever won, the Superiors were neutral. Obviously this implies that neither the Seraphim Council nor Lucifer issued a policy statement. (Lilith supported the North privately not for fear of Lucifer but because she didn't want to oppose her ally Andrealphus publicly.) Heaven as a whole and Hell as a whole remained neutral. But on both sides, individual Servitors undoubtedly participated as they, their Superiors, and their Words found appropriate. Comments are welcome.
