In either There's already a Song that does this; the Corporeal Song of Banishing will force a celestial to assume celestial form (pg. 61, LC). It's a secret Song, but I can see Superiors having the thing even if not listed as having it in the description (they just don't share with their servants normally in that case). The Song of Seals mentioned previously would take care of the target leaving for the celestial plane, although I imagine most Superiors could flay the Forces from the target in a round without it (and in the case of Archangels, if they're really pissed off they might follow the demon to Hell to finish the job anyway). - -- Mike Bruner-- bruner@delaware.infi.net "But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? Well, the Song of Banishing mentioned earlier does let the TARGET make a Will check to resist, so even if blasted by a Superior the celestial has a chance to avoid the effects. Of course, a Superior can wail on them with the Song of Charm to reduce Will to "Duuuuh, OK, whatever you tell me to do" levels if they're dumb enough to hang around, but it does make instantaneous death-by-Superior merely semi-instantaneous. - -- Mike Bruner-- bruner@delaware.infi.net "But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? Beth already pointed out how an application of existing Songs can make any celestial assume Celestial form standing right in front of you -- most celestials don't do very well when their Will is temporarily reduced to zero. Ahrimane The Archangel of Wrath "God is not love, God is hate for everything that profanes his Symphony and I am it" The Archangel of Wrath is very rarely mentioned in Heaven and it is by quiet agreement among the Host that Ahrimane never be mentioned again and hopefully that the Malakim can be forgotten in a way that Uriel never shall be. The Kyriotate Archangel of Wrath before the fall was a beutiful creature which had been given the task of destroying all things ugly, hideous, and monstrous before the Lord. A lesser Archangel for such things were uncommon in that time of greatness and purity Ahrimane still simmered with god's anger as he came to despise the softness in humanity and their selfishness, proving to be among the few Archangels among Baal and Beleth who supported Jordi in his desire to see humanity destroyed. Those few who defend his actions and abeit many so grudgingly admit that Ahrimane was blessed with a love of God and not a selfish desire in his body, he solely wished to please his master and each spring of anger the Creator felt Ahrimane wished to eradicate the source of and did so with pious abandon. No angel had fallen before Lucifer but Ahrimane was God's executioner for many outcasts whom were dissonant under him for perfection was required and when the Dinosaurs died it was Ahrimane who was their slaughterer, viewing the creatures as boring and useless before the Master. The Kyriotate of course transformed during the Fall into a Malakim and did his best to murder as many of the rebels both real and fleeing as he could before God left. The massacre of those angels who refused to fight for either side (forcing many to flee to Lucifer) is an unfortunate part of the Rebellion but Ahrimane was at the forefront along with David and Uriel and the Malakim left thousands dead personally. It was after the fall that many began to look askance at Ahrimane's murderous ways and he burned underneath Michael's commands to stem his wrath against the sinners of the Corporeal Symphony which caused him unspeakable dissonance. Records of him supporting the Flood to wipe out all of humanity are some of the few traces of him in the Seraphim Council Archives and Dominic's personal notes include that Ahrimane was suspected of hunting down and massacring in large numbers members of the Grigori choir and their children. Finally Ahrimane went too far for even the Heavenly Host to forgive as Dominic pried the truth from his servitors secret standing orders for him to murder among the Host the repentant damned....whom he viewed as forever tainted. A trial was immediately called by Dominic and to the horror of the Host he stood unrepentant before destroying his cathedral and fleeing Heaven, leaving his servitors behind as Michael, Uriel, and Gabriel trailing behind... In a secret place Ahrimane turned on his fellow angels as he slaughtered every sinner in the land around him from the smallest blasphemies to the deserving of death. Tracking him down as his essence was nearly spent Uriel stayed Michael's battleax from the killing blow and Ahrimane was bound in terrible chains before he was sealed beneath the earth of his resting place to never rise again. To this day Ahrimane remains only a remembered name of a great evil but the first of the Dark Malakim is a threat that does not die easily and a time will come when he breaks his bonds and rides across the Earth anew, bringing judgement to all and leaving no one whom incurs the anger of the Lord anything but ashes. After imprisonment for a number of thousand years and many more actually that Magog he'll be fairly weak when he awakens but he will grow stronger as he kills more and more. Ahrimane appears to be a breathtakingly beutiful human male with long flowing golden hair, glowing eyes that burn like two hideous suns, black wings that drip blood along with hands that perpetually do the same. He may wear regal robes and finery of a ancient god but there is something about his presence which causes them to tatter and melt at his presence. His hands are very rarely without a flamming sword and his other hand is usually armed with crackling lightning, fire, claws, or just holding some unfortunate's organ. Dissonance Ahrimane's servitors were either destroyed, outcast, or fallen with their Lord's demise and only a rare number truly abandoned their Lord to the wolves of the Archangels that he called family, Ahrimane had trained them to be too fanatical in his service and had destroyed all who had shown signs of not being so. Those that did serve him however were required to never show mercy to a sinner for their crimes and though a "reasonable" ammount of latitude was given to be what was appropriate punishment was (nothing less than eye for an eye) any servitor of Ahrimane who aquired a note of dissonance was slain the next time they were seen by their Archangel unless they sought service with another and even them most were killed by Ahrimane for their betrayal in secret or not so secret when his insanity was made public. Note Ahrimane was less strict with Choir Dissonance and Malakim, Seraphim, Ofanim, Kyriotates, Cherubs, Mercurians, and Elohim who broke oaths, lied, didn't move to stay and savor torment, deliberatey hurt their hosts, out and out harmed their attuned, killed humans, and got emotional satisfaction from "Justice" were usually given dischord to further their merciless nature and gratefully relieved of their dissonance which while taxing on Ahrimane led very few servants to Fall until his defeat; if one is already acting like a demon, why bother stopping? Servitor Attunements It is unknown if any servitors of Ahrimane still exist in the world or whether Malakim seeking to expunge the stain on their honor (Ahrimane was an oathbreaker who made an oath before Michael to show mercy to the redeemed fallen and penitant good and broke it repeatably; encouraging his servants to do the same), Grigori seeking to avenge the countless murders he commited on them, or even Demons fearing the merciless monsters but sensing a moment of weakness have killed them all off. If they still exist they would be extremely rare Outcasts and probably seeking their lord's return. Seraphim Seraphim of Wrath can add their corporeal forces to their resonance when hearing lies during interrogations about subjects whom they believe to be hiding terrible sins. Cherubim Cherubim of Wrath know well the sins of their attuned and can recite them verbatim. Early on Ahrimane encouraged Cherubs to serve as guides for them to seeking out redemption (usually through slaughtering sinners) but eventually his Cherubs "punishers" for them as he wiped away their dissonance. Elohim Elohim of Wrath are completely without concience in performing their actions for the Archangel of Wrath and are given the most cold blooded of tasks. They have the offensive resonance of being able to cause emotions that have caused one to sin to "burn" inside someone in the form of pain until they are volentarily shed...usually at the Elohim's "gentle guidence". Ofanim Ofanim of Wrath can track down the nearest way to someone deserving of punishment without much difficulty and while usually they used his "Eyes of the Lord" attunement to judge them eventually most simply trusted the Lord had led them to do the most horrible thing they could to them before leaving. Kyriotates Kyriotates of Wrath have the unique ability to keep their hosts concience and aware and fully capable of remembering their actions when they possess them (though they can make will rolls to resist certain horrid actions) which they usually used when possesing sinners to slaughter their companions and reign judgement but also allowed them to forgo dissonance to themselves and gain extra essence (the hosts) if the subject was willing. Mercurians Mercurians of Wrath can instantlly tell at a glance what the best sort of punishment for a mortal and his crime is. While they usually have "backup" to help administer this punishment in the form of Malakim or soldiery Ahrimane eventually distorted what was proper punishment with this attunement and to be scanned by a Mercurian of Wrath became unto a death sentence. Bright Lilim Ahrimane would have killed any Lilim in his service the first chance he could get. Servitor Attunements Eyes of God This attunement allows a servitor of Ahrimane to be able to tell just what a human's worst action has been in the past week for free, past year for one essence, a decade for two, and his entire life for three essence. A resonance roll is then rolled to see how much extra information regarding it is given with a two or higher telling the servitor whether he is remorseful and a three or higher telling whether or not they have made actions to correct it. Servitors of Wrath were not above using this ability on their fellow angels as well which made many as uncomfortable around them as Dominic, they would have been even more uncomfortable had they known that Ahrimane was not as forgiving as Dominic or as constrained towards fairness. Three Times over A Wiccan belief that has some basis in reality was that three times over one will be punished for one's actions and Ahrimane's ability allowed this indeed to be true as an Angel that knows a specific sin of a subject can inflict that punishment on the guilty party by making eye contact with them and spending essence equal to the punishment (1 for hitting somebody and bruising them, 2 for broken bones, three for maiming or incredible tortorous pain, 4 for permnant loss of a sense or the feeling of violation and torment from rape, 5 for vessel death, and 6 for soul-death). It actually will kill a demon or angel in a vessel if unprovoked (not self defense) has soul killed....and he will suffer three times over during it as fitting Ahrimane's belief the guilty should suffer more than those they abuse. Vassal of Anger By concentrating a angel of wrath can make something loathsome and inspiring of rage to whoever looks upon it. Some call this the mark of abel which is the reverse of the Mark of Caine. Friend of Vengence Friends of Vengence can enter a bezerk rage (though many seem perfectly calm) where they feel nothing but absolute hatred and can do nothing but attack. They feel no pain, concience, and for the duration can take up to twice their normal ammount of corporeal and soul hits even past death (at which the end nature will take it's course and they will perish). Master of Murder This rather horrofic ability allows a Angel of Wrath to shoot out living death (appears as shadows, spirit, holy fire, whatever the angel desires) that will affect a number of people equal to the angels forces and inflict damage per the smite attunement all at once. Rites * Kill a sinner worthy of death * Torture a sinner or sinners who deserve less than death for three hours * Leave unforgettable evidence of God's divine wrath Relations Ahrimane was not a popular angel in Heaven with most viewing him as a few cans short of a six pack and dominated thourghly by his devotion to his word. His angels being for the most part serial killers wuth distinctive MOs and all the associated quirks of them were not exactly high on the social party lists of most of Heaven either. A number of Saints actually did find service with Ahrimane though they were among the most rare to enter Heaven in the form of the Selfless and Psychotic. Ahrimane did however have his supporters in Heaven who viewed him much as how many view Gabriel today; an insane loose cannon but our insane loose cannon. Several Archangels today actually do not even know Ahrimane has ever existed and only a selected few among Hell (all Pre-Fall save Kronos) know of him and are deeply glad he's gone; having someone fitting all of your lies about Heaven does not make one comfortable. Allied: Uriel (Uriel was allied to him) Associated: Michael, Gabriel, Dominic (Gabriel and Dominic were associated with him) Hostile: David, Novalis,Marc, Jordi, Blandine and eventually all of Heaven (Novalis, Blandine, Eli, and Marc were all hostile to him) Enemy: Song (Novalis while not violent was actively opposed to Ahrimane before his outcasting) - -Charlemagne ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Mar 2001 23:19:25 -0500 From: "Charles Phipps" Subject: IN> Story hooks for Ahrimane tied in with my Archangel above * Ahrimane was buried in the sands alright but in a place that few people would ever dream would become some place important...specifically the place that has become Austin, TX. Since re-locating the city or the Archangel of Wrath is rather impossible Heaven has made tactite agreement to keep the War more or less cold over the region in order to make sure the word of wrath is not fed enough that Ahrimane might be awoken. Unfortunately one of his few remaining servitors after so many thousands of years has managed to track down his old master and is going to arrange sufficent bloodshed that the bonds will weaken to the point it will be unforgetable the slaughter that follows. * The Habbalah have a cult devoted in Hell to Ahrimane which roughly states that he is the Evil which will break forth it's bonds on Judgement day and reign fire and wrath on the world. Then all Habbalah will abandon their service to other Princes and begin a righteous slaughter of mankind and punishment which will last a thousand years of glory. The cult is headed by one of his Elohim former followers in the service of Saminga who thinks it would have been kinduv cool to meet Ahrimane. The cult is always on the look out to increase the war on humanity to more violent and hateful means. * The reason that Uriel went insane and Gabriel has slowly followed is because that they are bearing the brunt of Ahrimane's work load and the wrath of God is so powerful unless it is released; Gabriel will go insane much like Uriel did releasing God's anger in horrofic and terrifying ways. Only unfettered by rules, regulations, and given full acess to the power of God to wield it as he sees fit will the Wrath of God become pure again and Archangels like Uriel and Gabriel to be sane again. Otherwise it will move from Gabriel once he has been recalled to Michael, Laurence, David, and others until none remain... - -Charlemagne ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Mar 2001 23:24:04 -0500 From: "William J. Keith" Subject: IN> Pentecost It just *hit* me. All our talk about Gabriel as the bringer of inspiration, and the flame of the Pentecost isn't an event she can deliver? Granted, maybe it's a power of God alone. But it just seems so... *right*. Now, perhaps it isn't granted these days, as Belial twists the Word of Fire; maybe the Word is now just impure enough that Pentecost can't occur while the Word is in this state. If that's the case, Lucifer may have been even more effective with this than a mere stalemating of one of God's finest Archangel's, but actually cut off one of God's ways to speak to humanity. But then, maybe it will happen tomorrow -- you decide. Pentecost Servitor Attunement (Fire) Cost: 1 Essence per speaker targeted Additional Disturbance: 1 note per minute of effect per speaker targeted Note: not granted in over a thousand years To use this Attunement, there must be at least two humans nearby, some of which are speaking and the rest of the group listening to them. Furthermore, the speakers must be speaking the Truth as they believe it. The angel focuses on the speakers and expends 1 Essence per speaker. The *targets* make Perception rolls; if successful, they have perceived intimately what they wish to say, and can say it very well. In fact, they can say it in Angelic. The effect of the Attunement lasts for a number of minutes equal to the lowest degree of success among those speakers making their Perception rolls. While it is in effect, the speakers gain the ability to communicate in Angelic. It's difficult to say whether it is a verbal effect or some particularly audible form of spiritual communication, or something else entirely, for the head of each speaker receiving the Pentecost is surrounded with an intense white glow having the aspect of flame, which makes seeing them nearly impossible. The listeners can see the halo, and hear the words. Regardless of the listeners' own language, and regardless of their inability to identify the tongue being spoken, they can understand the Angelic as instinctively fluently as anyone can when perceiving it in the more usual fashion. A person who is passionate about his beliefs and is speaking under the influence of this Attunement can be extremely persuasive, and the crowd, for all practicaly purposes, often is convinced that they've seen direct evidence of God. Not only was the Pentecost Attunement only given to high-ranking Servitors of Fire, use of the Attunement was strictly regulated... sort of. "Wait for the right time to use it," Gabriel would say, and when the Bringer of Inspiration told you to wait for the right time, you either used it on strict orders or were prepared to swear that you *really* felt God had called you to. Gabriel, to be honest, used it more than any of his servants. However, though everyone assumes it was Gabriel, nobody can seem to find anyone who'll claim to know for sure that the Archangel of Fire was behind the best-known Biblical occurrence.... This Attunement might make for an adventure seed. A traveling revivalist preacher suddenly develops a reputation for "speaking in tongues," "radiating the Holy Spirit," and other such characteristics -- images and sounds that mechanical devices just can't seem to capture with any reliability, despite supposedly unbiased reporters' claims that the events occurred. At the same time, an old Servitor of Fire, a Servitor with the Attunement, has gone solid. The PCs' job is to get into the traveling tent revival, possibly as spectators, possibly as workers. Find out if the obvious is what's actually happening, and, if possible, deal with it. (Possibilities: Yes, it is. The Servitor claims God is calling him to use it -- and who can claim he's wrong? -- but something seems off... perhaps he's under external influence. Or, no it isn't -- the speaker is a smooth fraud (or an unwitting dupe), aided (manipulated) by a Balseraph of Infernal Fire, and the morals being preached are slowly moving from hellfire and salvation to hellfire and bookburning, to hellfire and (hey, even Balseraphim can dream) community-pariah-burning. The old Servitor is acting under Gabriel's orders to find the demon and put a stop to his perverted little schemes, and, if he feels the true need, to show a crowd what a real Tongue of Flame is like. The PCs get co-opted into the plan -- if they succeed in their part, they might just get to enjoy some Fire like it was in the Good Olde Days.) Angel of Superheroes - As the Angel of Superheroes, Kalel can sense with a successful Perception roll the circumstances which could serve as a potential "origin" for an indvidual, and what the result of such an "origin" might be. This ability only detects the most imminent set of "origin" conditions and results in a person's life at the time used. This ability also allows one to detect the powers of a being who already had his "origin" with a successful Perception roll. Example: Kalel assenses scientist Bruce David with this ability, and learns that exposure to radiation will turn him into the Mighty Brute, a dumb being with super strength and toughness. He would not, however, learn of Bruce David's potential to become Avian, the Winged Avenger, by being bitten by a genetically engineered eagle, due to the fact that the Brute origin is closer to the present. Heroic Role: This allows an angel to mask the disturbance caused by the use of Songs and Attunements with a Role, as long as the abilities used all correspond to a power motiff which the Role is known for. For example, Kalel's Role of Professor Mentalis is a known psionicist with telepathic and telekinetic powers. The Forgetful Words Attunement and all his Songs marked with an * are abilities which would fall under the psionic power motiff, and thus can be masked with a successful Role roll. The version of this attunement which can be granted to other angels is limited compared to the benefits Kalel enjoys from holding his Word. Another angel possessing the Heroic Role attunement can only link a number of Songs or Attunements equal to their Role Level plus Corporeal Forces to a particular Role. Whether a Song or Attunement fits the power motiff of a Role is left up to the discretion of the GM. It shouldn't be hard to determine. A good rule of thumb is that the powers masked by a Role must all fall under a certain theme. For example, Aniel, an Ofanite of Gabriel, has a Role as Flame, Mistress of Fire. She could choose any of Gabriel's attunements and any Songs which are associated with creating or manipulating Fire to link to her Role, but not her Songs of Healing. Artifacts: Kalel possesses many artifacts, all with a superhero gadet motiff. Rites: All of Destiny's - - Help a superhero train in the use of his powers - - Convince a superhuman to use his powers for good +2 - - Convince a supervillain to reform and use his powers for good +3 It all began when superhumans first started emerging in the world. No one was sure what caused it, but all knew that the state of the Symphony had changed. Individual humans were developing unique powers which caused no disturbance in the Symphony. Perhaps it was the result of meddling by the other side. Maybe it was the ethereals somehow messing with things. Or maybe, just maybe, for some reason God decided to let humans realize more of their unique potential. Whatever the cause, one thing was certain. The possibility for humans to become such powerful beings had the potential to impact greatly on human society, and thus The War. The actions of such beings and the feelings they inspired had the potential to lead many souls to their Destiny or Fate. This was not lost on Yves. He sponsored Kalel, a high ranking Elohite of his, for the Word of Superheroes, so that someone would be able to utilize this new change in the human condition for the purposes of Destiny. It was a close race between Kalel and canidates put forth by Bladine, Laurence, and Michael, but in the end, Kalel prevailed, and became the Angel of Superheroes. As the Angel of Superheroes, Kalel is concerned how superpowers can affect the Destiny of humans in general. He helps arrange for those whose Destiny is bound up with becoming a superhero to realize their potential, and when he can, steer a potential supervillain away from his origin. He also tries to manipulate superhumans so that they save others from Fate, and inspire them toward Destiny. Kalel has found his Elohite objectivity to be a distinct advantage in his duties, since sometimes giving someone the life of a superhero can lead to great tragedy for the hero and his loved ones. No one said the road to Destiny was always easy. Kalel has been greatly involved in the superhuman scene. He has engineered the origins of several superheroes and the formation of superhero teams. In his Role of Jamie West, he has the friendship of many superheroes, and is in a postion to steer them in the right direction with words of encouragement and advice at just the right times. As Professor Mentalis, Kalel serves as a mentor to a young group of heroes, giving them aid and guidance as they seek to protect humanity from those who would use their gifts selfishly. And by using his granted Kyriotate Attunement, he has protected various bystanders from supervillain rampages by possessing and empowering them. Ben, Elohite of Eli Angel of Neat Ideas P.S. I'd like to thank Moe for taking a look at my first draft and giving suggestions on how to tweak him. If you like this, he deserves some credit. If you don't, the blame is all mine. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Mar 2001 01:25:36 -0500 (EST) From: "Rev. Pee Kitty" Subject: IN> March 20, 2001 (PK) Humanity v2.0beta... Or Maybe Not Vapula is on an old kick of his - trying to figure out new ways to improve humanity. Evolution CAN be taken to the next level, if he can only kick start it a bit... and he's finally figured out just the Song to do it - THIS time, for SURE! The new Song (Corporeal, tentatively named the Song of Evolution, Mark LII - - like we said, it's an old kick) actually demonstrates some patience on Vapula's part. It has no long-term effects on its human subjects; instead, it causes any children conceived by affected humans to be...different. How different? Vapula isn't 100% sure, and since alpha testing would take nine months and a decent sampling of test subjects, he's going straight to beta test. Song of Evolution, Mark LII (Corporeal) This Song affects a number of humans equal to the performer's Celestial Forces, all of whom must be within (Total Forces) yards. It lasts for the check digit, times twice the Essence spent, in minutes. It has no direct effect on the subjects, but any children conceived while under the effects of this Song will be... different. Note that this Song does nothing to encourage amorous feelings in the subjects, or to increase their fertility. Essence Cost: 1 (no maximum) Degree of Disturbance: The check digit plus the performer's Celestial Forces. The obvious problem is the short duration and the lack of a guarantee that the subjects will successfully impregnate each other. Vapula, however, has a plan to get around both problems (without resorting to the Song of Fruition, which seemed to interfere with SEMLII during experimentation). He needs an orgy. A large, controlled orgy. This is where the Andrealphites come in. Vapula has called in favors to requisition some Servitors of Lust, for the express purpose of creating an orgy. These will be mixed with his own Servitors, bearing SEMLII relics and a few reliquaries as well. Together, they are to head to a high-class hotel in a nearby major city (no sleazy, cheap motels here - Vapula wants high-grade test subjects), get people together in a room somewhere, get them copulating (unprotected) en masse, and then begin judicious use of SEMLII to keep everyone "ready" at all times. The chances of any one couple conceiving are slim, but Vapula figures that 15-20 couples have a pretty good chance of producing at least one offspring. Djinn will be ready with their palmtops to track every female there until the status of their womb is known, of course. This is the way it's supposed to work. Unfortunately, Malphas has found out about this, and is putting his specialists on it. From the moment the groups get together, elite Servitors of Factions will be shadowing them, using every trick in their book to divide the two factions against each other. In this case, they'll be encouraging solidarity between the Vapulans and between the Lusties, and major hostility between the two sides. By the time they get to the hotel, the two sides should be ready to throw grenades at each other. They'll still work together enough on the surface, but all it'll take is one little excuse to set off the powderkeg... and the Malphites specialize in providing such excuses. This adventure seed can be played a few ways. Servitors of Andrealphus and Vapula fit right in. Well-versed Servitors of Malphas can play the part above. But it probably works best for all the other groups out there... just have them happen to be around the hotel when the powderkeg goes off, and the demons start trying to kill each other in the middle of a full scale orgy in the back room of one of the biggest and "poshest" hotels in town. GMs with a taste for overkill can have a Shriners convention in town with a few dozen Servitors of Kobal in tow... it's all about those funny hats and the cars, y'know. Season to taste, and don't forget about the obvious followup adventure... nine months later.... - -- Rev. Pee Kitty, of the order Malkavian-Dobbsian, Q4B4L! Meow! STEP 21. Frost the nuts. Big bag of nut in grocery store, why are they there? There for buying, and then to frost. Much like cake frosting, nut frosting sweet and smooth. Spread much like butter, but without grease and bubble. Allow nut to dry, then place on very best noodle tray. While allow for nuts to dry, think about new form of punishment. No frost for nut go bad, so take away and replace.
