The idea worked itself up the chain of command, and eventually Vapula himself devised this attunement. Anyone with this attunement has the ability to change certain properties of a vehicle by painting the majority of its exterior with certain colors. The most commonly-known application is red; by painting the vehicle red, you increase its maximum speed by 10%. There are other applications, though: white or light blue -slows- the vehicle's maximum speed by 10%, black forces anyone trying to spot it in a crowd or at night to make a Perception roll at -2, and canary yellow or lime green increases its endurance (increase the vehicle's Body Hits by 20%; the vehicle does not take any visible damage until these extra hits are lost). Multiple applications of paint do nothing to increase the effectiveness of these modifications, and only one color can be in effect at any given time. A damaged paint job can be repaired, however; the enhancement stops taking effect as soon as the coverage of the paint drops past 50% of the vehicle's surface. It is interesting to note that at least one Vapulan has claimed to have made relic paints based on this attunement; no evidence of this is forthcoming. Sword Shooting (Laurence) The moral here? Never introduce a War-faction Archangel to video games. This attunement only works on swords, and can only be activated when the user is at full Body Hits. The method is simple; the angel simply points his sword at the target and concentrates, and a blade of light spears out from the tip of the sword and strikes the target (if he's within range). This is an effectively instantaneous effect, and is the user's action for a combat round; after using this attunement, the user is effectively stunned for one round. The range of the beam of light is five times the length of the sword used, and the damage done is equivalent to the sword's damage; however, the user may choose to make either a standard attack roll or an attack roll which substitutes Precision for Strength. There is no limit to the number of times this can be used per day, so long as the user is at full health. And yes, this counts as a ranged attack. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 18:01:52 -0400 From: Elizabeth McCoy Subject: Re: IN> Bonsai Kitten's At 2:16 PM -0700 7/23/01, Daiv wrote: > It had to happen... I don't normally do these, but I was inspired. BTW, Guiness' report was originally entitled "Yoghurt: Death in a Plastic Cup" but I couldn't see it on the screen without laughing... Sam Lying with Statistics The Angel of Statistics, a Seraph of Lightning in service to Trade named Guiness, has always had a rivalry with the Demon of Statistics, a Balseraph of the Media named Cathraxis. Neither of the two has been successful in crushing the other, and sharing the same Word has affected both of them. They've found themselves inadvertently picking up traits of each other. Cathraxis has found himself blurting out the truth at inappropriate moments, embarrassing, to say the least. More seriously, Guiness has lied and convinced himself that he was telling the truth. Both are under the respective watch of the Game and Judgement. Cathraxis has been instructed by Nybbas to help Rex, the Demon of Cool, to popularize yoghurt. Rex is busy making yoghurt cool on another continent (in Montreal or Cannes, depending on where your game is set). Rex is working the youth angle, Cathraxis is to make the country club elites crazy for it. Cathraxis (in his role of Maxwell Germaine, a statistician and a friend of the young heir to the Doyle family of New York) isn't having too hard of a time with it. After all, yoghurt is fairly healthy, and he has several statistical studies showing that it is good for you. Slowly, yoghurt is making its way to the buffet table at posh receptions. Guiness has tracked down his nemesis and is none too happy with this. Wanting to stymie the demon in any way possible, Guiness is about to release a statistical study showing how bad yoghurt really is. This study is technically statistically sound, but works off of completely specious assumptions. Creating the study made Guiness dissonant, and if he were to release it to the public in a press conference, as he intends to, it would make him more dissonant, possibly on the verge of Falling. Angelic PCs have one main goal: Make sure Guiness doesn't Fall. Getting him to not release his report would be difficult, but a step in the right direction. Destroying Cathraxis' plan would do just as well. Demonic PCs can have multiple goals. The Game is interested in information that Cathraxis is a traitor. Servants of the Media want Cathraxis to succeed, and getting a copy of Guiness' report before it is release, so a rebuttal can be written and immediately given after would be an excellent piece of damage control and bring more attention to yoghurt. Rivals of the Media would want Rex to suffer his first setback, knocking Nybbas down a notch or two. Guiness is a 13 force angel, with about 7-9 Word Forces. He should have a distinction or two, as well as Generator and Remote Control. He can also call upon some of Marc's organization, though if they see his report, they may think twice before they support him. Cathraxis is a 12 force demon, with 8 Word Forces. He's not too flashy, strange for a servitor of the Media, but he has a fairly good track record. His current servant is Brandon Doyle, his "in" to society. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 20:48:47 -0400 From: "Eric Bertish" Subject: Re: New Angel (Was: Re: IN> Bonsai Kitten's) > Moe, whatever it is that you've been smoking, I must get some. Cats would be better at this then humans, as they can sneak into all sorts of places. Further, they'd spend most of their time learning Songs by spying on the enemy- or their "friends". Dogs would make useful guards. Teach them Corporeal Tongues, and get them to patrol the borders of Tethers - the moment they smell anything, they can report back. Hopefully the write-up on Jordi will include more detailed rules for animal vessels. My home-grown rule is that any animal vessel includes (animals total Forces) levels of permanent NC, and a base penalty of -5 to Precision based tasks [humans have NC(Fine Manipulators)/5; other animals eg primates, octopodes can have 1 or 2 levels]. And for living animals, making maximum levels of toughness equal to their Corporeal Forces works well. At that point, he settled in the lower part of Italy and has been farming successfully ever since. Nice but gruff, the Malakite is one of the few who dislikes being called on to fight; he'd rather be helping the War by making sure that the village of Soldiers that's sprouted up around his farm is well-fed and prepared to fight off any infernal incursions. Harchus is more local spice than anything else, though he's not averse to harboring passing angels (and feeding them, dammit). On the flip side, he and his Soldiers will be out in force if there's anything like a demonic presence detected anywhere nearby - and Harchus assumes that angels nearby won't be making disturbance, if you catch his drift. Harchus can be readily relocated if you (as GM) feel like placing him elsewhere; he could just as easily be one of the original New World settlers, a forward-thinking pioneer anywhere across the Americas, or the owner of vast acres of paddies in Asia, to name a few. His Soldiers should be a mix of ethnicities, though the majority will be what is typical in the area. His is -not- a commune; the Soldiers do work together, but in the end, they all must fend for themselves. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 19:02:44 -0700 From: Kish Subject: Re: IN> Superior Dissonance james walker wrote: > > > To tell you the truth, I've never really been very clear on how > > superior dissonance functions. The GM's Guide talks about this. It wouldn't cause him dissonance in the "roll the dice and risk becoming Outcast" sense at all--after all, he can remove his own dissonance. But he never would consider striking first; the idea would never occur to him, and would seem abhorrent if it did. - -- Kish ICQ# 28085879 AIM Kish K M ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 07:30:17 +0000 From: "cassandra benner" Subject: Re: IN> Iron Rev III: Excessive (s)Wordage Puzzle? i put a puzzle on the group? dang thats the first time i done that and not noticed, unless you mean spelling mistakes that is. Not quite accurate, there. Cephalopods have independent control over each individual sucker on their tentacles, which allows for some really fine manipulation. If they were sentient tool-users, they'd be capable of some really scary stuff. Hmm... Ironic deaths are Kobalite specialties, especially when the death comes out as a horrible pun. Here's an example: In the middle of the night, a lawyer, driving home on a dark road, sees a figure suddenly rear out of the night. In a panic, she slams on her brakes, swerves, hits a tree at 60MPH, and goes through the windshield, instantly killing her. When the cops find the car in the morning, they find a mysterious spray of straw on the pavement around the wreck and some scratches on the pavement. See, the Servitor of Dark Humor put a scarecrow in the middle of the road. When the headlights from the car hit the scarecrow, the lawyer freaked. She was killed by a straw man! Get it? Get it? ********** Emily K.
