--------------------GEV List Thingy, Dec 2nd-------------------- From: Shaun Travers Subject: Ogre Minis Is it possible to have a run down or review of the Ogre miniature rules. Over here is AUS the rules are AUS$29 which is about US$42. I need to know what they are like before buying them. What are the chief differences between Ogre/GEV/Shockwave and the miniature rules? Do they have a good feel to them? My background is WW2 1/72 and 1/300 wargaming and boardgames, if that is any help. -shaun ___ [If you already have Shockwave then you have most of the units that Minis adds to the game. The rules are more-or-less straight-forwards GEV with one hex == 2 inches, but the terrain rules are a bit more involved. We get one totally brand new Ogre (hint: same cost as a Mk VI!), and a lot of the "Space Gamer" units are folded in. A few holes in the rules get plugged, and we get to see Stevies Tables of Organization and future histories, plus a nice painting guide. For $15, if you had all the original sources this is based upon, you're nuts enough about the game to pick it up anyway, but at over forty you'd probally get it, if you already do miniatures and know that you can find somebody who'll play it. Naturally you best read a true review before forking over the big bucks. (Maybe Stevie could restart the Space Gamer so he'd have a place to review his games...) -HJC] Henry J.
