--------------------GEV List Thingy, Dec 30th-------------------- Subject: Re: GEV mailing list... From: goldman@orac.cray.com (Goldman of Chaos, postmaster CRI-US) Henry, I seem to have misplaced the address to send messages to the GEV mailing list. Would you please let me know what it is? Would you pass the following onto the list please? Matt ----- cut here ----- cut here ----- cut here ----- cut here ----- Hello, I'm just getting into miniature wargaming with the Ogre system. I've purchased a number of the Armor units, and I'm at a loss as how to paint them. I understand stuff such as primer, undercoats, washed, and dry brushing. What I'm looking for is suggestions on what colors to paint things. Are there picture books that show examples of modern armor unit's various paint schemes? I've thought of just olive green for forest work, and tan for desert combat; however, I'd really like some examples, or pointers to examples of how to paint 'realistic' camouflage. Gaudy for the Ogre I can do. Thanks in advance for any help and or advice you can offer. Matt Goldman goldman@orac.cray.com P.S. Is there anyone else in the Minneapolis/St. Paul region who is interested in Ogre? Northfield is nearly local based on my driving habits... -- Matthew Goldman E-mail: goldman@orac.cray.com Fax: (612) 683-3099 Work: (612) 683-3061 "Say George, I don't mean to interrupt, but there's a glowing red dot on your forehead." ___ [I am the list and the list is me, so to speak... Ogre Minis includes a 4 page painting guide, along with lots of full color photos. -HJC] ___ From: rleroux1@ra.UVic.CA (Roger Leroux) Subject: Re: GEV List Thingy, Dec 29th. > Limited Perception: Each enemy unit is only identified as to > location and size (Squad of "Infantry" or Armor Unit size 3), until it is > overrun. Sure, sounds fine to me. Of course, it would be a lot of work on your part... Roger ___ [My fears are twofold: A: The Players will get confused and loose track of which enemy units have gone how fast in what terrian. and B: Not everybody'll have Ogre Minis (shame on them! ;-), and therefore not have the new unit listing with the sizes and such. BTW: How should I handle the SJG <=> rec.games.board gateway WRT this list? I've assumed that every internetter can read r.g.b if they like, and will tell me if they want a missive to get passed along to the BBS and this list. I see the three pieces as having greatly different natures: rec.games.btech is for temporal interaction amounst a wide audience. SJG's BBS has limited disk space and bandwidth, but holds anything forever, and so should be viewed as a "permanent" archive of arcania. This list (whatever its true name is...) is both temporal and limited and therefore suited to broadcasts of in-play game results and tentative musings. For example, I'll shortly air out my notes on the unit design formula here, long before they're ready to play to any other audience. -HJC] Henry J.
