--------------------GEV List Thingy, Oct 20th-------------------- From: str@qdot.qld.gov.au (Shaun Travers) To: hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu Subject: mostly superheavy My initial impression on the Superheavy change is it is A Good Thing (TM). However, it could be because I like Superheavys (or is that Superheavies?) and making them more resilient can only be better for me :-) However, this change make me feel it would be slightly more expensive than 12VPs, while the objective was to make it worth its point value. How will this affect the Cobb Formula? Is it possible to add one more variable to the equation? > D'ed Superheavy gets X'ed => what? -HJC] My reaction is it is gone completely. It might be messy to treat is as a 'double disable' or whatever. I had a few questions up my sleeve but I have waited until purchasing Ogre Minis before posting them. As I bought these rules only days ago, I have no questions (it was mostly laser/gun armed tanks and LOS rules - all in Ogre Minis as Archaic Armour). Actually - how about a heavy armed with a laser? same defence, less attack, longer range but affected by the LLOS rules? Haven't thought it through much so I might go home and scribble and play a bit. Oh - noticed Winchell Chung helped design the some of the models. I've always liked his stuff. I remember it first from WarpWar. Ah, what a game, I loved it. It's a pity it doesn't relate well to solitiare play. -shaun ___ [Gee, I wrote a nifty computer program to play Warp War, er, I mean, yeah, what a shame. I was under the impression that lasers (the rapid fire nuclear-pulse type that BPC makes obvious), were a little too heavy for Ogres, but I've always wanted to have a laser cruiser (yes, Navy) to guard invansion fleets against missle-sub attacks. (Yes, patrol GEVs with depth charges and all that...), but I never got back to working on the Amphib stuff. If you'll send in "Normandy II, the nuclear exchange", I'm sure that Steve would at least glance at it. -HJC] Henry J. You wrote a program! I never had the time. Does it work well? What is is written in? Do you still have access to a copy? And, asking very nicely, with lots of pleases and grovelling, is it possible to obtain a copy? I really like WarpWar :-) > I was under the impression that lasers (the rapid fire > nuclear-pulse type that BPC makes obvious), were a little too heavy for > Ogres, but I've always wanted to have a laser cruiser (yes, Navy) to guard > invansion fleets against missle-sub attacks. Would people play it? I guess a beach invasion would be interesting. The timeline in OM indicates several Normandys and a Sea Lion! -shaun
