--------------------GEV List Thingy, August 4th-------------------- From: Jonathan McCaleb To: Ogre/GEV Went back through my old issues of "Spacegamer" and found a reference to your "construction algorithm" (Spacegamer, issue #69) in issue #74. Unfor- tunately, I am missing issues #67-70, #75-76, #78 and beyond. So, although my interest has been piqued, I am unable to read the article in question. Is there anyway I can get a copy of this? Are back-issues still available from Steve Jackson Games? I will have to call and find out for myself. How recent is your version of the Ogre Miniatures game? The copyrite date on mine says 1992. I beleive it is the first edition, but I wouldn't lay odds on it. ;-) The only reference to new terrain types are cliffs, craters and rubble. Are these what you were referring to? Speaking of miniatures, I was browsing the newsgroups a couple of nights ago and ran across this announcement in rec.games.miniatures. I reprint it here without permission as follows --- >From nntp.crl.com!decwrl!ames!elroy.jpl.nasa.gov!swrinde!pipex!sunic!trane.uninett.no!eunet.no!nuug!EU.net!uunet!newstf01.cr1.aol.com!search01.news.aol.com!not-for-mail Wed Aug 3 03:24:48 1994 Path: nntp.crl.com!decwrl!ames!elroy.jpl.nasa.gov!swrinde!pipex!sunic!trane.uninett.no!eunet.no!nuug!EU.net!uunet!newstf01.cr1.aol.com!search01.news.aol.com!not-for-mail From: rmeaden@aol.com (R Meaden) Newsgroups: rec.games.miniatures Subject: NEW OGRE Miniatures are coming! Each of the empires will have their own base color for product recognition: Red - North American Combine Blue - Paneuropean Federation Olive Drab - Chinese Hegemony Purple - Nihon Empire We will try our best to release 4 boxes a month. Initial releases will be re-releases of units previously available, but NEW designs (like the Paneuro LGEV, Nihon and Chinese units) will be hitting the shelves in the near future. If you want more info, you can email to ssggames@aol.com Richard "Teamwork Builds Tanks!" - Combine Department of Production slogan (standard disclaimers apply or whatever the legalese is suppose to be) The prices, IMHO, are a bit steep, but I haven't kept up with the prices and I don't remember what I paid for my old ones, a few of which I still have around, including an OGRE MK-V, although sadly incomplete. :( I'll keep looking for the "Icepick" scenario Bye for Now Jonathan L. McCaleb (sorry, my SIG's out to lunch!) ___ [Yes, I posted that recently. When I get the latest catalogue from Steve, I'll slap together a FAQ with current, and expected products. I've always been a bit troubled by some of the effects of the attack footprint + defense footprint formula, and so have been trying out a new one, that I still lack mathematical confidence in. It looks like I need to rig a genetic testing rig for the formula, and I'll know I've got it right, when the "observed forms" are favored.
