--------------------GEV List Thingy, August 7th-------------------- NOTICE: THIS IS THE LAST GEV LIST THINGY, PLEASE READ BELOW: From: Kerry Harrison Subject: Re: GEV List Thingy, August 6th To: "Henry J. Cobb" Henry, I've finally got the Ogre Mailing List up and running on Illuminati Online, to suscribe to it just send an email message to majordomo@pentagon.io.com with "subscribe ogre-l" as the body of the message. The address to post to is ogre-l@io.com. Kerry ___ [OK, I'll now turn the reponsibilty over to you'll. During the next week, I'll firm up a FAQ for Ogre/GEV and post that on Usenet, then take another look at the formula. Once again: The GEV list is dead, long live the Ogre list. I look forward to seeing all of you there, but you must send the e-mail message as above to join. -HJC] ___ Sender: "RMeaden" To: hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu Subject: Re: GEV List Thingy, August 6th Plastics are an eventual option that may be considered. The real problem with this is the cost of the moulds, which are VERY expensive to produce, forcing the concept of having to sell lots to justify those costs. Who knows, it may be considered for a 20th Ann. Ogre set, or those really big Continental Seige Ogres like the Mk. VI. Actually the costs for the box sets work out to just about equal (or less than two Ral partha blisters for normal units, way cheaper for the light stuff and about the same for the Ogres (but better for the smaller ones). Infantry are going to be much cheaper, and you get 36 in a box. We're also doing Special Forces (Engineers & Hvy Weapons). Remember, you get 4 normal armor unit, or 6 light units, or 2 heavy units in a box - basically a platoon, or 24 points in a box. Infantry: there's about a battalion. Best bets are to buy stuff in 100 point increments, as well as an Ogre hee or there - they cover at least 100 points right there. Future minis questions: Need your input here. Is there a need for an *Ogre Accessory Pack*? Basically a box of bits to customize your Ogres, whatever Marks you possess. Stuff like Drone hangers & Drones (probably the only way Drones would be available - easy to scratch build!), towing gear, Ogre-size bulldozer blades, and coversion bits like a non-conning tower type unit to make a Paneuro Huscarl Mk. V, Strap-on weapon packs and Zimmeraut plates for the tread units? Other stuff too, but you get the idea. Also, what's all your opinions on transfer sets for each different empire? Rub down, or water based? Richard ___ [What would be the effect of a Drone squad, would the Ogre get the effect of a squad of Engnrs? I got the new SJG catalouge, and Ogre minis is there, alone, on the last page, underneath the many Toon suplements. What we need is a "new world order" to realign Ogre from it's Cold War background. How about an arternate background where the single superpower, capable of building Ogres, is run by leaders too whimpy to "risk the life of a single american marine", but who still like to meddle in foreign affairs? (Yes, I know, that's very fantastic, but suspend your disbelief, OK? :-) Setup: CP (d1), 60 points of manned units, in a large city complex, against a single attacking Mk-III. The defenders loose normal points for any infastructure damage (buildings, bridges, roads) done by either side, the Ogre looses 10x normal points for any infastructure damage it does. Both sides get normal points for blowing each other up. The ogre gets 20 points if it destroys the CP, and looses 200 points if it has not left the map by the end of the tenth turn. If neither side scores postive points, they both loose. Optional rules for besieging the CP with Rock & Roll, etc. are left as exercises for the reader. One last time, do not reply directly to me, join the Ogre list and send it there. -HJC] Henry J.
