(Its mission is to crush GEVs) I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT, GEVs ARE THE MAIN SMALL CRAFT IN USE > Will we see "Sea states" (BCP ships and plastic men?) (The first > cavalry starts out from San Diego and proceeds just above the waves to go > strike Tokyo...) -HJC] THAT'S THE IDEAL FOR A COUPLE OF SCENARIOS, CARRIER IS NOT REALLY THE PROPER NAME FOR THE TYPE OF SHIP I'M LOOKING, COMMAND SHIP MAY BE BETTER NOMENCLATURE, IT'S SOMETHING NOT AS HEAVYLY ARMED AS A BATTLESHIP BUT HAS A GOOD BIT OF FIREPOWER CARRIES LOTS OF DRONES, GEVs, MARINES, and LOTS OF REPAIR SECTION EQUIVLENTS. Kerry ___ [An Ogre would be about the smallest landmobile unit that could carry an nuclear X-ray laser, if it's really a superconducting ring fed electric laser then all bets are off. Once a raid does take down your missile defence, you'd like to have a mobile unit to reestablish it quickly. Ask Steve to show you a copy of the first Ogre book (lost mine :-(, it should have a reprint of the first sub variant. If I remember the "Firepower" show correctly, currently the US marines have large amphibious assault ships, that carry attack and transport helios, harriers, amphibious armor, normal armor, the hovercraft landing boats for their armor and a bunch of marines. In the 21st century, GEV's will have taken over from the aircraft, and the marines can wade ashore themselves, but they still will need armor (at least the MHWTZs to back up the infantry and the tanks to go through woods). For a while I was working with a variant of the hovertruck that could carry a single armor unit. If I could straighten out the formula, I'd know if my "duck" (Atk 3/2, D2, M4 as light tank, except for swamp and water which cost two MPs, but do not effect attack or defence) was worth an armor unit or not. -HJC] Henry J.
