--------------------GEV List Thingy, March 24th-------------------- From: donelan@sunrise.comm-data.com (Mark Donelan) Subject: GEV/OGRE: submerged Ogres To: hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu (Henry J. Cobb) A few more questions for everyone about water combat. 1) If a swimming ogre is overrun by marines what happens? A) A normal overrun for the marines except that the Ogre is helpless. B) Nothing it is the same as a GEV-swimming Ogre overrun. The awnser has some interesting tactical implications. If the awser is (A) then no defender with a lake on his map should decline to get a few S.P. of marines. If (B) then marines are less useful. 2) Mobile Howitzers. With thier incredibly slow movement (2" I believe) are they overpriced at 12 points? thanks in advance Mark Donelan donelan@comm-data.com ___ [Ogre mini's is fairly clear that 1A is the case. The old GEV tactics articles suggested keeping the MWHZ at a road crossing to give it extended movement (and therefore range) in several directions. Underwater Ogers are not much faster than a MHWZ on a road, and it is one of the few mobile weapons that can hit submerged targets. -HJC] ___ Subject: Re: GEV List Thingy, March 23rd. I hear GEO-HEX > is great but a bit pricey :-(. Any other [cheaper] ideas? I have a bunch of felt (light green (6 feet by 9 feet), dark green into various shapes for forest, light blue in strips and ponds, dark blue for deep water. Then I have one of the smaller GeoHex boxes of slopes for some terrain. I have bunches of high-tech looking office supplies for buildings and some of the bubble feet off of heavy crates for reactors. Then there is the Cray X-MP model for the office complex. I'm also thinking of picking up a few Micro-Machine bases for nifty background things.
