Hi there! I want people's comments on an Ogre Fanzine. I've talked to SJG
about this, they're keen, and right now I'm pieceing together a proposal,
along with layout concepts and other fun stuff. I'll just post the messgae I
left on America Online. I'd be interested in your comments, please!

<<Righto, as promised, here's a list of initial ideas for the Ogre Fanzine. I
want you folks to comment on each of the below ideas, and/or whether you'd be
interested in having such an article included. I still haven't decided
whether to include the Microgame Quarterly into the Fanzine, as MQ is still
entirely conceptual, OF is considerably closer to reality.

But firstly, we need a bloody NAME! Ideas welcome (I have a couple, hush
hush), and I'd be thoroughly disgusted at those who think a good un' up. Down
to business!

1) Scenarios: Each ish. would have one or more scenarios, detailled with
advanced & optional rules. I have a couple,names are fairly explanitory:
Waltzing Matilda, Operation Jericho, Steel Souls, Blood & Rice, Rorke's Drift
Revisited - these ones have pretty solid ideas, and there could be tons more.
Of course, suscriber's own scenarios make the bulk of this stuff up.

2) New Units: New ones, experimental ones, even lemons could be showcased!
Some could become part of the unit mixes, some very special, or scenario
specific. New Ogre fall into this, too. Counters would be provided for them,
and modelling hints to the minis version.

3) Fiction: Ogre history is fun - and stories are, too! Stories could even be
backed up with a scenario based on it, if possible. At the least, the stories
should also be informative, lending a useful facet on fleshing out Ogre
stuff. I'm a graffiks guy, no story writer in me!

4) "Behind the Lines": Stuff detailling life in the world of Ogre, stuff on
uniforms, technology, even medal and awards. Again, fleshing-out stuff, and
would be more of the "Not a lot of people know that" (Michael Caine accent)
stuff than gaming material.

5) Modelling stuff: Build a factory! How's about a Reactor, or a wrecked Ogre
model. Useful, but does leave out the board gamers...

6) Totally New Stuff: Deep sea naval stuff, warfare in space/Moon, low tech
warfare in the Factory States, even wierd cross-overs (crossed streams?),
like the Starship Troopers Miniatures idea, or other lunacy.

New maps & color madness!: If things go well, full color cover and/or center
spreads allow new maps for the board gamers, or maybe neat infographics of
the Ogre world, or whizz-bang artwork or peoples minis pics. Ve haf vays of
gettink zis dunt for cheep... I think.

Each ish will be at least 16 pages (8.5 x 11) all the way to 32 pages(!), but
we'd need a lot of material for that size. The issues could get bigger as
things improveed, and out name got around. It would be B&W (see above) with
me looking after graphics & production, and maybe checking some speeling &
proufreeding. People's interested in helping/writing/getting donuts would be
muchly appreciated. HOWEVER, I CANNOT guarantee money, just satisfaction in a
job done, and getting a free ish with your article in it. I'm making this a
labor of love, and I think there are others that feel this strongly about
Ogre.

This stuff will all be considered 'unofficial' to real Ogre timelines, though
Steve DOES trust in what I (and others) will do that won't throw things outta
whack - Trust Me!>>

Support would be for BOTH minis & board game versions, with new counters
being provided on new units

	[Gee, it costs my lab $3 for each full color full page printout.

	You might be surprised at the lack of sufficent interest.  SFB
supports several newsletters, but I gets ten times the traffic for SFB as I
do for GEV, and SFB has other, more official, net-channels.

	At it's height, Ogre/GEV never took over half the Space Gamer, the
way Melee-TFT or Car Wars did.  (Mostly because they supported expression
of ideals beyond their base, such as Deryni, Overmen, Superheroes and demon
mechanics...)

	Maybe the upcomming computer version will rekindle some spark, but
if the MS-WOS client does not have a seperate stand-alone mode (in addition
to the networked ability), I suppect that it's impact will be rather
limited. -HJC]
