Matt -- Matthew Goldman E-mail: goldman@orac.cray.com Work: (612) 683-3061 My day today? Nothing major, just Xenon base gone, Scorpio gone, Tarrant dead, Tarrant alive and then I found out Blake sold us out. ___ To: hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu Subject: Re:GEV List Thingy, May 12th From: Emilio Desalvo > Hi there! Ideas welcome (I have a couple, hush Ground Zero! ___ [GZ is a term used when you have one BIG nuke and need to triage a City, GEV's toss around a lot of little nukes. (So that future generations might know all the joys mutation has to offer...) -HJC] ___ Sender: "RMeaden" To: hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu Subject: Re: GEV List Thingy, May 12th <<[Gee, it costs my lab $3 for each full color full page printout. You might be surprised at the lack of sufficent interest. SFB supports several newsletters, but I gets ten times the traffic for SFB as I do for GEV, and SFB has other, more official, net-channels. At it's height, Ogre/GEV never took over half the Space Gamer, the way Melee-TFT or Car Wars did. (Mostly because they supported expression of ideals beyond their base, such as Deryni, Overmen, Superheroes and demon mechanics...) Maybe the upcomming computer version will rekindle some spark, but if the MS-WOS client does not have a seperate stand-alone mode (in addition to the networked ability), I suppect that it's impact will be rather limited. -HJC]>> Well, we'll see. I working in the graphic/printing, and have access to all kinds of goodies and 'favors'. Color printing done GTO-DI format (I've found a new supplier!). With the recent installation of a Canon CLC350 with Fiery 200i, color copying pretty well free. Color is not an issue, yet, only if the mag lasts more than a year! Another 2 options are: 1) Bung the whole lot of ideas over to SJG and let em publish as articles in PYRAMID, 2) Go the Postscript route, like I've seen for freebie microgames on the Net, or 3) Maybe a portion of PYRAMID an be set aside every once in awhile for an Ogre issue, or like they do for Car Wars. Or maybe 4), do what you're doing! Did I say 2 options? I've got enough poop scribbled on the kitchen tablecloth to keep things going for a while anyway. With Winchell Chung, Mike and Kerry helping here and there, it's worth a long-shot, right? Cheers! - Richard ___ [Well, why don't you exercise #4 to start, and offer an "at cost" paper version to any interested parties? Just like cdrom.com sells quite a few CD's that have nothing that is not offered freely on their FTP site. -HJC] Henry J.
