=============== OGRE/GEV list, April 21st (Last: April 14th) =============== ===== The Laser Ogre From: Henry J. Cobb ============================== Subject: The Laser Ogre From: Henry J. Cobb Nothing came in this week, so I'm forced to reach into my gunny bag. The operative theory for this unit is that the battlefield lasers are electric ultraviolet units, so why not mount one on a Mk-III-sized Ogre with a beefed up power supply? Laser Ogre points: 150 Size: 7 Four Laser Grid Array Elements (4 x LGAE) (range 60 inches, Defense: 2) Two Mini-Missile Launchers (2 x MML) (attack 3, range 8 inches, Defense: 2) Six Antipersonnel (6 x AP) (attack 1, range 2 inches, Defense: 1) 36 Thread Units: Movement starts at six inches. 6 threads: (move drops to 5 inches) 6 threads: (move drops to 4 inches) 6 threads: (move drops to 3 inches) 6 threads: (move drops to 2 inches) 6 threads: (move drops to 1 inches) 6 threads: (move drops to 0) The LGAEs form a single laser beam, and work together to have the same attack and LOS rules as a Laser Turret, whose effect depends on the number of surviving elements. (Multiple elements cannot "split" to perform multiple attacks) Number of LGAEs Roll vs Cruise Missiles strength vs land units 4 9+ attack: 2 3 10+ attack: 2 2 11+ attack: 1 1 12+ attack: 1 0 --- --------- The MMLs have the same 10+ roll vs Cruise Missiles as Secondary Batteries. (I changed my mind, so sue me). My working theory is that the Nihon Empire built a few of these for mobile defense against cruise missiles in the vast expanses of China. Note that like the other Nihon cybertanks we've seen to date it's rather underarmored, especially in the treads. Henry J.
