Subject: RAID PBEM game ends

The Combine (droberts@cs.uiuc.edu) fought the PanEuropean
(awflower@midway.uchicago.edu) in a game of basic RAID to NO CLEAR
Winner (a tie).  The game started late October with the PanE using two
howitzers surrounded by infantry defending their territory.  The Combine
took out the 2 groups of a total of 4 southern cities and then proceeded
up the East side of the map.

Unable to take out the howitzer (only disabling it briefly), the Combine
ended up with two GEV's left in the big pond.  Reinforcements for the
PanE consisted of mainly GEV's and MIssile tanks.  However, due to a
PanE error, a GEV overran a disabled Combine GEV in a city.  The Combine
took out the PanE and then killed the howitzer.  This enabled the
Combine to kill enough cities to tie the game.  And this is how it
ended, two Combine GEV's in the pond with nothing to shoot at.
