To: hcobb@io.com (Henry J. Cobb) Henry, Has anyone done anything with firing arcs for the OGRE? From the drawings I've seen, it seems as though there would be definite arcs for the Main Batterys and perhaps the secondarys as well. Perhaps in the next generation of battlesuit. (I would like to see the differences in armor between the forward "gun shield" and that weak link between the power and brain hulls). -HJC] ------------------------------ From: marms@nmol.com Subject: Ogre mailing list idea To: hcobb@IO.COM Henry, I was wondering if you could put the Ogre Mailing List articles up on the WWW. As a nice example, ake a look at the Up Front Mail List http://www.harte-lyne.ca/listserv/upfront/ Messages can be sorted by thread, date, subject, or author. The threading is nice, but their mailing list is not in digests as the Ogre ML is. So threading could be forgotten. Simply providing a nice user-interface for retrieving old digests would be great for people joining the list to see what has been discussed before. I'm not sure how much of your old Ogre/GEV ML you archived, but I saved most of it for the time I was on it. So if you want/need that old stuff I can get it to you. Rabinowitz" To: "Henry J. Cobb" Subject: We want our Minis! So when did you say new Ogre minis would come out? Or am I just better off fudging with Battletech minis? On that note, does anyone have some good suggestions as to what specific Battletech minis are best for different Ogre units? Thanks. "Watch," said I, "beloved." ----- [Last I heard the minis would be released after Killing Zone, which I'm waiting on before passing final judgement on the formula. (maybe Steve's waiting for the formula before putting out Killing Zone? ;-) I forgot to include any references for the Missile Tank articles, so here's one on recon by smart weapons fire: Another type of engagement should be explored. Since a "smart" tank munition will carry its own target acquisition, there is a possibility for reconnaissance by main gun fire. A "smart" munition could be fired toward suspected, but unconfirmed enemy locations; a suspicious berm, a hot spot in a woodline, a muzzle flash, or a diesel plume behind masking terrain. If the round finds a target, it will be destroyed and an enemy location revealed. Such a capability for direct fire reconnaissance is currently lacking. but the potential benefit is clear. "Tomorrow's Smart Tank Munitions" by Major Bruce J. Held http://www.pica.army.mil/orgs/fsac/sad/1995/mayjun/art3.html Sounds like a good way to deal with refugees, journalists and other hazards of the battlefield. -HJC] Henry J.
