From: peletier@grolen.com ============================== From: peletier@grolen.com To: hcobb@slip.net Subject: E mail game going on! I have started an e mail game with grendel@cdsnet.net (Paneuropean) and droberts@cs.uiuc.edu (Combine) with a simple Breakthrough GEV game. I will let you know how it turns out. One question. Can a GEV cross a stream on its secondary movement phase? Some have played the game where you must wait by the stream until the next full movement phase. mike p peletier@busstop.com ----- [5.083 Streams: does not use the term "full movement phase", and as far as I know, that phrase is not used anywhere in the rulebook. 4.02 does note that GEVs do get two movement phases per turn. Ogre Minis does not cast any further light on this topic. I've been looking at Reserve Engineers (RE), they move and defend as Militia but have an attack of only one point, only in overruns (not doubled), and they can almost anything CEs can do, but they take a turn to prepare before each action. Examples: A RE squad moves forwards one inch on turn one and is informed that it has entered a minefield (they are never effected by mines, while on foot), on turn two it "prepares to clear mines", on turn three it clears a square inch around it, on turn four it moves forwards another inch and renters the minefield, on turn five it prepares to clear mines, on turn six it clears another square inch, etc. (REs can't detect mines at range, they use the mine detecting Hovertrucks for that) The REs don't come with the big nuclear charges, but they can buy one per squad (at the same cost as the CE reloads) and they do have the same structure mining charges (remember that they take an extra turn to prepare before counting off the SPs). RE's have specialised tools and knowledge, but not the battlesuits, and so only count as one "point" per squad for moving hulks (after taking a turn to prepare). The one thing I haven't decided is how much each squad should cost, any ideas? -HJC] Henry J.
