=============== OGRE/GEV list, May 25th (Last: May 15th) =============== ===== Ogre on PC From: Bliss Bignall ===== Kitbashing Battletech stuff into Ogres From: Tony Reynolds ------------------------------ From: Bliss Bignall To: hcobb@slip.net Subject: Ogre on PC Greetings from sunny San Angelo Texas! I'm wondering if OGRE is available anywhere for the PC (IBM type)? I've played on both Amiga and Atari 800, and heard rumors of a PC version, but... BTW, I'm off to check the FAQ right now. Just thought I'd ask the question first. Bliss ----- [It is out of print and severely out of date. If you do find it, you can beat it with fuzzy-wuzzie behind a screen of single-point infantry. -HJC] ------------------------------ To: "Henry J. Cobb" From: Tony Reynolds Subject: Kitbashing Battletech stuff into Ogres Okay. The Plastic Minis will be here "One Day." I don't feel like waiting until "One Day" comes along. So, my wallet and I went to the hobby store in town. We came back with our good friends, new saw blade, super-wide Battletech heavy tank minis, and new mitre box. The heavy tank mini is wide, but it doesn't *look* wide enough (from the picture of the MkIIIs I see in the book, or MkVs even) to quite be an Ogre. Listen to this: ZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzz Thunk. That's the sound made by cutting the heavy tank in two. I shall widen it by connecting it with a flat wide metal piece and some glue. It might require mechanical fastening. I'll see. I might use one flat wide metal piece to which I'll fasten both sections of the Ogre. I may even be able to shape a coupler design out of the middle part. Here's an overhead view of the flat piece. The coupler is in the middle. ____________ ___________ | |___| | | | | ___ | |____________| |___________| A cut-in-two heavy goes on each of the long sides. I'll cut grooves into the heavy to provide lots-o-surface area for the glue to hold. Then, I'll get a thick, long, squarish-in-section piece of metal and shape it into an Ogre tower. A little more kitbashing from the RP Btech medium weapons collection and some modelling putty may produce an acceptable main battery. Has anyone else been this industrious (or desperate?)? :) I decided last night to wait until I buy some film to document the process. Maybe someone else will want to do this after me. I'll snap pix and put them on the web. I'll also snap pictures of the kitbashed Btech Heavy Howitzer that turned into an acceptable HWTZ unit by moving the big gun from the deck of the unit to the arm that's supposed to hold a point defense-lookin' thing. Putty in the giant hold for the big gun's turret and bing!, you're done. Tony Reynolds|cctony@tp.backbone.olemiss.edu|Telecomm Analyst II|(601)232-5030 I promise, it's boring! ----- [Go ahead, I'll provide a web link from my page. If I only had a digital camera I'd post mine. (Still haven't settled on the scheme for the Fencer, which at 8 x 3.5 x 2 cm is only a size 8 OGRE) -HJC] Henry J.
